#MFRWHooks - 12/30/15 - Acting Lessons - Always read the fine print #DD #SpankingRomance

Splendorous things can happen when the mind and body are in tune.

This material is NSFW (Not Safe For Work). If you’re not over 18, please explore elsewhere.

Welcome back to Book Hooks, a regular Wednesday feature! In this blog loop, we hope to provide you with some tantalizing tidbits in our books.

My submission for this week's Book Hooks is from my 5th novel, Acting Lessons.

He was a strict and demanding college professor turned professional director who excelled at giving acting lessons.  She was his shy and uncertain former student who became a professional actress under his tutelage.  They fell in love, married, and won two Tony Awards before tragedy struck and a simple kiss ripped them apart.

After a six month separation, Peter Thorton decides to take matters into his own hands by making his famous wife, Kate, an offer she wouldn't refuse.  Plainly put, he wants her back and he intends to do whatever is necessary to achieve his goal, even if it means giving his stubborn, willful leading lady a daily reminder over his knee that she promised to obey him.

In this scene, which occurs in chapter six, Peter Thorton has just finished giving his wife, Kate, a relatively mild spanking for defying his instructions, and is preparing to make love to her for the first time in over two years.  Peter adores Kate, but he's not above teasing her a little before giving her what she wants and needs as he gently nibbles her into a writhing mass of desire.  However, given her injured knee, he also wants to ensure nothing they do aggravates her torn meniscus, so he gently restrains her when she tries to counter-thrust against his pleasuring. Since they haven't been together for nearly six months, Peter enters Kate slowly to give her body time to adjust.  However, passion soon claims them and when Peter climaxes, Kate realizes they didn't use protection. But what stuns her most is Peter's confession that he didn't sleep with anyone else during their six month separation. Peter, however, doesn't want to get into a conversation over the way Kate jumped to conclusions over the kiss she witnessed, so he tells her they'll discuss the issue another day.

She considered his proposal.  Perhaps a fresh beginning would allow them to put aside the past, except….  "Won't we have to get married again?"
He frowned for a moment, then shook his head.  "As of right now, we are separated, but still married.  So, unless you want us to repeat our vows, it's not necessary."
She sat up.  "What do you mean?  I have legal paperwork in a file at the bank with both our signatures.  As of Saturday, our divorce is final.  Right?"
His brows drew even closer together.  "This is only Thursday.
"I realize that!" she snapped back.  "But the current day of the week doesn't alter the dissolution of our marriage, does it?"
"No.  The fact we were legally separated this morning doesn't change a thing about what happens Saturday.  However, from the way you're glowering at me, I suspect you didn't read the fine print on the document you signed, did you?"

Peter is finally back with Kate, though their issues are far from resolved. Even so, he wants to do whatever it takes to get their marriage back on track.
M/F, DD and a staged production of Kiss Me, Kate.

Guest Post - 12/29/15 - Laura's Longing by Jessica Brand - #BDSM #Erotic #Spanking

Today Jessica Brand is visiting to share information on her latest novel "Laura's Longing." Jessica writes extremely explicit stories that I assumed were out of her imagination, but I asked "When you write, do you ever model any characters after actual people?" and she answered, "My inspiration comes from my own fantasies and experiences then I weave them into a story that, hopefully people can relate to. I want people to read my stories and be able to imagine themselves in the thick of the action – either as the dominant character or as the submissive. Some but not all of my characters are modeled on real people I’ve met and played with." So, she definitely knows whereof she writes.

Excerpt:

Picking up one of the ankle cuffs, she studied it closely. It was multi-layered brown leather with a shiny chrome D-ring on one side and large chrome buckle on the other. Bending over, she closed the cuff around her ankle, surprised at how comfortable it felt without even buckling it up. Straightening up to return it to its place on the bed, her hand slipped inside her panties, confirming what she already knew. Her body was ready but she was still unsure about her mind. She had two and a half hours to decide.
Taking the collar in her hand, she held it up against her neck. The skin of her neck was particularly sensitive and she had always loved it when Brandon had kissed and gently nibbled it, not that he did it as often as she would have liked. As the leather touched her skin it caused a little shiver to pass through her and she wrapped it around her completely, doing up the buckle just tight enough to be comfortable. Looking at herself in the mirror, she smiled at her reflection, thinking the collar made her look like an innocent little puppy. As she was considering the potential for the evening she wondered whether she was really as innocent as she liked to think.
Switching her focus to the shiny steel handcuffs, she reached down and carefully picked them up, surprised at how heavy they felt. She played with the two halves, swinging one around to see how it slotted into the locking mechanism. She had never handled handcuffs before and they scared her and fascinated her in equal measure, representing helplessness and control. Hearing a click, she realized she had accidently locked one of the cuffs. "Shit. No," she said, panicked. Yet, she felt a little gush inside her panties she knew was not from her excitement, but fear.  "No, no, no," she repeated as she tried desperately to pull the cuff open.
Realizing her efforts were fruitless, she tried to slip her hand through the locked cuff but found that, as dainty as her hands were, it would not fit through the hole. Tears sprung to her eyes as she slumped down on the bed in utter frustration, trying to work out what to do. She had just failed her first test and she was shattered. Noah's note made it quite clear. She was to be very careful with the handcuffs and if she didn't follow his instructions, he would not see her. As she sat there in despair, a thought struck her.
Racing to the bathroom, she grabbed a hairpin. People always used hairpins to pick locks in the movies! It looked easy enough. Surely she would be able to unlock the cuff and save her evening. Slipping the end of the pin into the lock, she began moving it around with no real idea of what she was doing. Sliding it and twisting it this way at that in the forlorn hope that the lock would release, she became increasingly frustrated when nothing happened. Finally she threw the hairpin to one side and desperately pulled on the unrelenting cuff. "Aaarrrgghh," she squealed as her anger got the better of her.

#6BestHop - 12/27/15 - A Simple Misunderstanding - Jerry offers Elly his protection #DD #CorbinsBend

He came to her rescue when she needed him most, almost to lose her when she disobeyed him.

Welcome to Sunday's Six of the Best Blog Hop, where we share six paragraphs from a published novel or a work in progress.  My stories are all M/f with the dominant male determined to protect the woman he cares for and loves, or grows to love, by doing whatever it takes to ensure her safety and continued health.

This week's excerpt is a sneak peek from my fourth spanking romance, A Simple Misunderstanding, which is the seventh book in the Corbin's Bend series.  I hope you enjoy it.

In this scene, which occurs near the beginning, Eleanor Benson (Elly) has some exciting news she wants to share with Gerald Douglas (Jerry).  She's seen Jerry in the dog park on an almost daily basis since she and her husband moved into Corbin's Bend, but only started opening up to him a few days ago.  As the Corbin's Bend vet, Jerry has expressed an interest in Elly's dog, Muffin.  His calm, steady manner soothes Elly's wounded spirit, and the fact his observant eyes seem to notice more about her than she'd like both attracts and frightens her.  All the same, he's the first person she thinks of when she has news to share.  So, she heads over to the dog park with her toy poodle, Muffin, in the hope he'll meet her there.  He does.  Excited, she tells him she had three women visit her that morning.  Wanting to hear more, Jerry starts asking questions and when he discovers Elly risked getting in trouble with her husband if he discovered she'd come to the dog park without his permission first, Jerry gives her a swat for putting herself at risk, then immediately apologizes as he admits that he worries about her. Surprised, Elly tells him he doesn't need to worry. Arthur loves her.

Jerry nodded, but Elly got the impression he didn’t believe her. She couldn’t blame him since sometimes she had trouble believing it herself.
“All the same, I don’t want you risking his anger, okay? Collect Muffin and go home as fast as you can. If he finds out you left without permission, and loses his temper, leave and come to my place. If you can’t get away, call me. I’ll come get you.”
“Jerry, please. You sound like I’m in need of rescuing, and I’m not. I mean I make mistakes on occasion, but we’re fine. Still, I was wrong to leave without calling and telling him first; so I deserved the swat you gave me.”
He ran a finger down her cheek. “No you didn’t. I was the one who was wrong, Elly, not you. That’s not to say breaking the rule you and Arthur established wasn’t a mistake, but even breaking a rule doesn’t merit a hide ripping every night. And every one of us makes mistakes. You’re a beautiful young woman who deserves love, romance and mind-blowing sex, not beatings. Remember that.”
With a nod, Elly thanked him then called Muffin to her and ran away before she did something stupid, like beg Jerry Douglas to kiss her.

Jerry already suspects Elly's husband is harsher with her than he should be and wants to help her, but he is unable to intervene until Elly can admit she and Arthur are having problems. However, the notion that she's actually courting trouble doesn't sit well with him at all.

M/F Domestic Discipline in Colorado.

Blurb:

Though Arthur and Eleanor Benson have been practicing domestic discipline for three months since their wedding, he insists moving to Corbin's Bend, where domestic discipline is the norm rather than the exception, will revitalize their marriage. Elly has doubts, but since Arthur is the undisputed head of their household, they move. However, once Arthur becomes immersed in a community where spanking is not only permitted, but encouraged, his personality undergoes a dramatic change. Accusing his submissive wife of being lazy, disorganized and disobedient, he employs creative methods of pain and humiliation to mold Elly from the imperfect woman he married into the perfect woman he desires. And Elly finds herself a virtual prisoner in her own home, accountable only to the man who rules her life with a cane.

In his years as a vet, Jerry Douglas has seen what abuse does to animals, and he recognizes those same signs in Elly Benson during her daily escape to the dog park with her tiny poodle. Jerry steadfastly supports the tenets of domestic discipline and enjoys the freedom Corbin's Bend offers its residents, but he remains fiercely protective of anyone in need of a champion. And when he witnesses evidence of harsh handling, his instinct is to rush in and rescue. Problem is Elly Benson is a married and consenting adult who insists all her bruises and welts are nothing more than a simple misunderstanding between her and her husband, until the day Arthur Benson takes his authority and discipline one-step too far, endangering Elly's life.

#SatSpanks - 12/26/15 - Past Interference - What you ask for isn't always what you want #CorbinsBend #Spanking

Sometimes you have to break the rules to get what you need.

Reading this material at Work could get you spanked.

Welcome to the Saturday Spankings blog hop.  My stories are all M/f with the dominant male determined to protect the woman he cares for and loves, or grows to love, by doing whatever it takes to ensure her safety and continued health.  This includes administering a spanking when she needs one.

My submission for this week is an excerpt from my new spanking novella in the Corbin's Bend series, Past Interferencethe sequel to A Simple Misunderstanding. Past Interference is part of the Corbin's Bend Valentine's Day collection "Love in the Rockies," and is not being sold separately.

In this scene, which occurs in Chapter Five, Eleanor Benson (Elly) has made more than a few mistakes, one of which results in her throat being injured when she experiences another run in with her ex-husband.  Not permitted to talk until the doctor gives her permission, Elly is reduced to communicating with a white board.  With her wedding to Jerry scheduled to take place in three days, Elly refuses to spend one more night in the guest bedroom.  Knowing Jerry will do nothing to address their issues until after she's been cleared by their physician, Elly decides to confront the matter the only way she knows how.  Head on. Jerry gives Elly a chance to avoid the inevitable by ordering her to pick up her board one last time, but she stubbornly refuses to comply, so he makes good on his promise. When Elly finally gives in, Jerry wants to make sure she understands he's serious about her health, and that further disobedience will only get her in worse trouble. So, after he finishes administering her spanking, he tells her she deliberately sought to make him angry and she succeeded, so without further ado he grabs her arm and orders her to follow him.

Given little choice but to follow, Elly protectively covered her backside with the whiteboard as Jerry marched her back to “her corner.”
He removed the board from her grasp, placed it within reach before her, and raised both her hands to rest on the top of her head. “Keep those naughty fingers there. No rubbing until I give permission. Understand?”
Tears flowed down her cheeks, but she nodded. This time only a non-verbal agreement would be permitted, any attempt to talk, even to call him ‘sir,’ would no doubt earn her another volley of spanks.
“Better. Nose to the corner. I expect you to remain in this position until I say you can move.”

Though Elly knows her disobedience will push Jerry into taking action, she hopes the spanking she's about to receive will help clear some of the very uncomfortable tension developing between them and allow them to begin repairing their broken relationship.

Blurb:

Valentine's Day in Corbin's Bend.  As Elly Benson readies herself for her second wedding, the doubts and misgivings of any new bride-to-be are exacerbated by the abuse she suffered during her first marriage.

Though she's lived with Jerry Douglas for four months now, and been subject to his discipline more than once, Elly's first husband had been kind and careful with her, too, until the day she vowed to love, honor and obey him.  The lessons she's learned from the past make her doubt she can ever find happiness in the future.

Frisky Friday - 12/25/15 - Mortal Illusions - No Santa, merely vampires #Paranormal #Ds #Vampires

Merry Christmas!
I don't think Santa is particularly fond of vampires, so he isn't visiting here today. Just the undead.

Sometimes a monster really is hiding under the bed.

Welcome to another offering for Frisky Friday, where we hope you're getting as excited about the weekend as we are.  This week, I'm sharing an excerpt from my 1st book, Mortal Illusions. A vampire romance published by New Concepts Publishing, Mortal Illusions is currently the first in a series of 3 books.  Its sequel, Fatal Desire, is currently under production.

This snippet occurs at the beginning of Chapter 6.  Germaine St. Justine and Claire Daniels are both attending the opening night festivities of Germaine's newest musical "Dracula." Claire's mother died the day before, and Germaine dedicated their opening night performance to her.  Though Claire is grateful for Germaine's support, she has grown more and more convinced he is a vampire and was once her mother's lover. So, when she begins spouting accusations that Germaine is truly undead, he suggests their backstage doctor sedate her enough to calm her down so she can complete her performance.  Claire is furious with him for avoiding her questions and overriding her wishes in the matter, but finishes her performance and attends the opening night party, since she doesn't want to do anything that might ruin the occasion her mother had most wanted to see. Claire's Broadway debut. However, Claire isn't handling her grief well, and when she begins her third glass of champagne, Germaine intervenes by lifting the filled flute from her fingers with the warning that alcohol and tranquilizers don't mix as he escorts her over to the buffet and begins filling a plate for her. When she presses him for information, he dismisses her questions as nonsense. But Claire is determined to get Germaine to tell her the truth about himself, including the real reason he went behind her back and fired her dresser. When he remains close-mouthed, she demands he prove he's not a vampire.
.

Germaine wanted to shake her.  “You can't prove a negative, Claire.  Besides, why should I make claims to prove I'm not something, when you have no proof that I am?”
She picked up a stuffed mushroom and held it to his lips.  “You could prove me wrong simply by eating this.”
He could, but the price he'd have to pay when his system eventually rejected the offering caused him to discard the notion, as tempting as it might be to finally win this battle.  Perhaps if he truly believed he could dissuade Claire so easily, he'd do it and suffer through the hours of convulsive cramps while his vampiric anatomy rid itself of the offending substance.  But he feared the young woman confronting him would not abandon her quest until she was confident she'd gotten to the truth.  And there were other, less painful ways he could change her mind if she would only be sensible.
Glancing again at the curved fungus cap filled with deviled sea scavenger, he toyed with the notion of planting the idea that he'd actually eaten the damn thing by passing it before his mouth then pocketing it.  Disgusted with himself, he rejected the deception, even more quickly than he'd rejected the reality as he gently pushed her plate back.  “I'm allergic to mushrooms,” he replied quietly.

Though Germaine is concerned about Claire, he's more worried by the notion she has discovered the truth about him. Vampires do exist, and walk among us, but if an uninitiated human suspects, the vampire is supposed to clear the mortal's mind of such foolishness. Germaine finds such tactics distasteful, but he may not have a choice in Claire's case. They are too closely connected.

#MFRWHooks - 12/23/15 - Deadly Enchantment - All cats like to be scratched #Paranormal #Shifter

Fair Warning: Wizards don't always play fair.

Welcome to MFRW Book Hooks, a regular Wednesday feature! Today, I'm sharing a snippet from my second book, Deadly Enchantment, a Victorian paranormal romance concerning the deadly rivalry between two shape-shifting wizard brothers.  The legitimate heir, Terrence, received his father's money and title, but his illegitimate half-brother, Dominic, received all their father's affection and love, earning all of Terrence's resentment.

Published by New Concepts Publishing, the story revolves around a young psychic woman unwittingly drawn into the brotherly conflict when she faces off with the dark wizard of Ravenscroft, whom she is convinced has brutally slaughtered her sister in a fit of jealous rage on their wedding night.

In this segment from Chapter Four, Serena decides to confront Westcroft directly by marching into his study and insisting he admit his true goal is to purposely frighten the other women, who'd been selected by his sister as his potential brides, into leaving. Though Serena knows Westcroft possesses magical powers, she's just not sure what form they take other than parlor tricks, so she decides to see for herself just how far he is willing to go, but changes her mind when she recognizes the danger in provoking the beast.  Except she's too late. When she reaches for the door handle she discovers he'd locked her in with him. Magically.

Lifting a shaking hand to the top of its head, Serena rubbed her fingers against the silky white fur and heard a low rumbling purr that sounded almost like a growl.
When she dropped her hand, it wrapped its massive jaws around her wrist and gave a gentle tug.  The moment she tried to pull away, it released her, but when she didn’t move from the door, it mouthed her wrist again and gave another tug.  Realizing it wanted her to follow, she obeyed uncertainly.  So far the animal hadn’t hurt her, but she wasn’t sure how much of the beast before her was leopard, and how much was Dominic Westcroft.
It led her over to the couch, then nudged her hip firmly with its nose.  That push was strong enough to cause Serena to briefly lose her balance, but she steadied herself by grabbing the arm of the couch.  The large white cat regarded her unblinkingly, but made no further move toward her.  Wondering if she’d taken leave of her senses or if they had only temporarily deserted her, Serena sat on the green velvet divan, as it clearly wanted her to.  Once she was seated, the large feline pressed its furry head against her hand again in a plea for more scratches.

Though Dominic Westcroft has done nothing to hurt Serena or her cousin, yet, the potential remains ever-present, and Serena still suspects the wizard is responsible for the brutal murder of her sister. Now, her suspicions may have taken an ugly reality.

Guest Post - 12/22/15 - Betrayed by Blood by Allison West #DystopianFantasy #BDSM #SlaveTrade

Betrayed by Blood is Book Two and the riveting conclusion of Allison West's Courtesan Slave Trade series, which in turn is a spin off from the Gem Apocalypse series by Raven Rayne. Though it is not necessary to read The Murderess first, it is recommended.

Excerpt:

Rhys glanced from Lorelei to Aaron. “The former king of Brayleigh will be put on trial, along with his son, August. I want the palace presentable and the guillotine ready should the verdict be guilty.”
Aaron swallowed the lump in his throat. “Don’t you find that a tad bit harsh?” He no longer could sit quietly and listen to such talk of his father and brother being executed. Being at his former home, it made the pain all too real.
“Harsh?” Rhys said and laughed. “I find your father’s advances toward the women of Brayleigh harsh. Taking their virginity, selling them to the highest bidder. Do you not see how better a world we’ll have without him in it?”
“You have his crown and the power that goes with it,” Aaron said, reminding Rhys that he’d won. He had the country in the palm of his hand. Why did he need to go on and execute its former leader? Could he not be exiled instead? There was plenty of land abandoned after the Gem Apocalypse.
Rhys nodded. “I do, but it’s not enough. I need the people to know that I want what’s in their best interest. I’m not angling for taking over or even suggesting a leader for our nation. I’d much rather see a free world without boundaries and walls keeping us apart. Where we’re all equal and no one is hunted and murdered for having different color eyes than a sapphire.”

Blurb:

When Aaron discovers his father, King Gideon, and brother, Prince August, are still alive and a verdict for treason to come within a few days, Aaron has no choice but to infiltrate the palace, no matter the cost. Forced to align himself with the rebel leader Rhys, Aaron and Lorelei must return to the palace to seek justice and protect the crumbling nation of Brayleigh. Will she be loved by all who know of her as the murderess or feared for her deadly sins?

Unwilling to let Rhys take command of the country, Aaron will have to become the prince he was destined to be and rise in power to overthrow the new regime. Will Aaron be able to stop Rhys from his rise of power and end the slave trade once and for all? Will Lorelei find herself assimilated as part of the rebel movement or an enemy of the people?
