Guest Post - 12/22/15 - Betrayed by Blood by Allison West #DystopianFantasy #BDSM #SlaveTrade

Betrayed by Blood is Book Two and the riveting conclusion of Allison West's Courtesan Slave Trade series, which in turn is a spin off from the Gem Apocalypse series by Raven Rayne. Though it is not necessary to read The Murderess first, it is recommended.

Excerpt:

Rhys glanced from Lorelei to Aaron. “The former king of Brayleigh will be put on trial, along with his son, August. I want the palace presentable and the guillotine ready should the verdict be guilty.”
Aaron swallowed the lump in his throat. “Don’t you find that a tad bit harsh?” He no longer could sit quietly and listen to such talk of his father and brother being executed. Being at his former home, it made the pain all too real.
“Harsh?” Rhys said and laughed. “I find your father’s advances toward the women of Brayleigh harsh. Taking their virginity, selling them to the highest bidder. Do you not see how better a world we’ll have without him in it?”
“You have his crown and the power that goes with it,” Aaron said, reminding Rhys that he’d won. He had the country in the palm of his hand. Why did he need to go on and execute its former leader? Could he not be exiled instead? There was plenty of land abandoned after the Gem Apocalypse.
Rhys nodded. “I do, but it’s not enough. I need the people to know that I want what’s in their best interest. I’m not angling for taking over or even suggesting a leader for our nation. I’d much rather see a free world without boundaries and walls keeping us apart. Where we’re all equal and no one is hunted and murdered for having different color eyes than a sapphire.”

Blurb:

When Aaron discovers his father, King Gideon, and brother, Prince August, are still alive and a verdict for treason to come within a few days, Aaron has no choice but to infiltrate the palace, no matter the cost. Forced to align himself with the rebel leader Rhys, Aaron and Lorelei must return to the palace to seek justice and protect the crumbling nation of Brayleigh. Will she be loved by all who know of her as the murderess or feared for her deadly sins?

Unwilling to let Rhys take command of the country, Aaron will have to become the prince he was destined to be and rise in power to overthrow the new regime. Will Aaron be able to stop Rhys from his rise of power and end the slave trade once and for all? Will Lorelei find herself assimilated as part of the rebel movement or an enemy of the people?
