#MFRWHooks - 12/16/15 - A Simple Misunderstanding - Taking care of business #CorbinsBend #Spanking

It's Book Hooks Wednesday!  Yay!  And I'm sharing another excerpt from my new spanking romance in the Corbin's Bend series, A Simple Misunderstanding.  It's sequel, Past Interference is included in the Love in the Rockies anthology.

He came to her rescue when she needed him most, almost to lose her when she disobeyed him.

In this scene, which occurs in Chapter Six, Jerry Douglas, who has spent the day with Elly Benson, has been asked to leave the hospital, so he returns to his veterinary clinic to check on his patients. Muffin, a tiny toy poodle, was injured when Elly's husband attacked her. Jerry's technicians have spent the day caring for the dog, and now Jerry is there to check her out to make sure she's healing the way she should be. After giving the animal a quick examination, Jerry takes out her IV, feeds her and takes her out of her cage so she can relieve herself. The smart little poodle knows exactly how to butter the breadwinner.

Chuckling, he picked her up and put her back in her cage, giving her fluffy ears a gentle rub. “Your mommy is going to be pleased to hear you’re so much better. She’s been terribly worried about you.” The poodle gave his nose a lick that time, so after one final pat on the head, he closed the cage door. “Sleep well, little one, and I’ll check on you in the morning.”
After running a quick test for hidden blood in Muffin’s stool sample, which came out negative, he washed his hands, then looked in on his two other guests. Assured they were both fine, he turned the lights to low, flipped on the baby monitors and left the area. However, he still left his door into the clinic open, just in case.
All animals taken care of, he put some leftovers in the microwave and checked his answering machine for the message.

All the animals in his clinic are important to Jerry, but Muffin is special since she belongs to Elly.

M/F Domestic Discipline in Colorado.

Blurb:

Though Arthur and Eleanor Benson have been practicing domestic discipline for three months since their wedding, he insists moving to Corbin's Bend, where domestic discipline is the norm rather than the exception, will revitalize their marriage. Elly has doubts, but since Arthur is the undisputed head of their household, they move. However, once Arthur becomes immersed in a community where spanking is not only permitted, but encouraged, his personality undergoes a dramatic change. Accusing his submissive wife of being lazy, disorganized and disobedient, he employs creative methods of pain and humiliation to mold Elly from the imperfect woman he married into the perfect woman he desires. And Elly finds herself a virtual prisoner in her own home, accountable only to the man who rules her life with a cane.

In his years as a vet, Jerry Douglas has seen what abuse does to animals, and he recognizes those same signs in Elly Benson during her daily escape to the dog park with her tiny poodle. Jerry steadfastly supports the tenets of domestic discipline and enjoys the freedom Corbin's Bend offers its residents, but he remains fiercely protective of anyone in need of a champion. And when he witnesses evidence of harsh handling, his instinct is to rush in and rescue. Problem is Elly Benson is a married and consenting adult who insists all her bruises and welts are nothing more than a simple misunderstanding between her and her husband, until the day Arthur Benson takes his authority and discipline one-step too far, endangering Elly's life.
