Peter loved Kate with all his being, but that didn't mean he'd tolerate an ultimatum from her.

For Sneak Peek Sunday we share six paragraphs from a published work or a WIP (work in progress).

My submission for this week is from my 5th book, and newest release, Acting Lessons.

 He was a strict and demanding college professor turned professional director who excelled at giving acting lessons.  She was his shy and uncertain former student who became a professional actress under his tutelage.  They fell in love, married, and won two Tony Awards before tragedy struck and a simple kiss ripped them apart.

After a six month separation, Peter Thorton decides to take matters into his own hands by making his famous wife, Kate, an offer she wouldn't refuse.  Plainly put, he wants her back and he intends to do whatever is necessary to achieve his goal, even if it means giving his stubborn, willful leading lady a daily reminder over his knee that she promised to obey him.

In this scene, which occurs early in the first chapter, Peter Thorton, seated comfortably in an agent's office, is attempting to convince his wife, Kate, to give their marriage a second chance by signing her to appear with him in a College Summer Stock production of "Kiss Me Kate."  Kate isn't sure she can trust Peter with her heart again, since she believes he's been unfaithful to her, but she's never stopped loving him.  And though Domestic Discipline originally played a part in their marriage, their last two years together had them living like polite strangers sharing the same house.  Peter realizes he made a mistake in letting Kate do as she pleased, so he's determined to rectify matters immediately, however, Kate is suspicious.

             Narrowing her eyes, Kate crossed her arms and sat back.  Peter grinned at her like the cat that had devoured the canary and lapped up a saucer of cream as a chaser.  She didn't trust that look.  More to the point, though, she didn't trust herself--not when she was with him.  She'd never forgiven him for cheating on her, but she'd never stopped loving him, either. However, he loved another woman, so why was he coming to her with an offer?

            He wanted something.  Something he wasn't ready to reveal, yet.  And, he'd changed.  He seemed more commanding and insistent, like he'd been in the early days of their relationship.

            Back then, he hadn't let her get away with much.  He insisted she do things the way he wanted.  If she dared argue the point, she'd find herself panties down, draped over his knees, regretting her obstinacy.

            She hadn't forgotten the burn of his iron palm when it descended with displeasure.  But what she remembered most about those days was the way he'd kissed and hugged her once she'd promised to do what he wanted.

            And, more often than not, what he wanted would only help her become a better person or actress.

            During those moments when she curled up on his lap seeking the reassurance he all too willingly gave, he surrounded her with security, love and protection.  She missed those days, but they bore little similarity to his attitude toward the end of their marriage.

Hmm.  Kate's not quite ready to trust her former husband again, but he can be very convincing when he chooses to be.

My submission for this week is from my first spanking novel, Arrested by Love, published by Blushing Books.

  In this scene, near the beginning of the book, Kyle, a traffic patrol officer, has pulled over a young woman for speeding in a school zone.  Tiffany has been in love with Kyle since she was ten, so this isn't the first time she's faced the strict police officer because of some prank she's pulled.  It's not even the first time she's been caught speeding, which means she's spent a fair amount of time over his knees.  Even so, Kyle is prepared to let her go with a warning and a ticket until she propositions him.  Angry, partly because he's tempted to accept her bribe, Kyle decides to offer her a choice.  She can either spend a night in jail, or place herself over his lap and receive a harsh spanking for her reckless driving.  Tiffany knows Kyle isn't kidding, and she's scared, so she tells him she can't submit to a spanking.

            He gently swiped his thumb along her chin.  "I understand completely.  I don't agree with your decision, even though I do understand it," he said, giving the door a small push to open it.  "You will be allowed one phone call when we get to the station.  I suggest you call your dad, first.  He's going to be pretty upset by this, I'm afraid."

            He started to step out and shut the door, when she cried, "Kyle!"

            Turning back, he gazed down at her.  "Yes?"

            She crumpled upon seeing his resolved expression, then started to cry in earnest.  "Okay.  I'll do it," she finally managed to get out.

Kyle doesn't like seeing Tiffany so distraught, but he has to remain firm or he'll lose all credibility with her.

This post for HHD is from my 2nd book, Deadly Enchantment, a shape-shifting wizard romance published by New Concepts Publishing.  The story revolves around a young psychic woman facing off with the dark wizard of Ravenscroft, who she is convinced has brutally slaughtered her sister in a fit of jealous rage on their wedding night.

In this segment, Dominic's deepening feelings for Serena make it more likely his evil brother will target her.  Rather than risk losing her for good, Dominic decides to send Serena home directly after the funeral of his sister.  Serena doesn't want to leave, but arguing will gain her nothing but his anger and the likelihood of a more speedy departure, so she remains silent. Though Dominic is suspicious of Serena's new found docility, until she is safely away from him he insists she sleep in his bed.  So, he enters her bedchamber, kisses her, sweeps her up in his arms and carries her into his bedroom.

             “I can’t stop thinking about you,” he admitted hoarsely as his hands deftly removed her robe and nightgown.  “And my thoughts haven’t been the least bit civilized, no doubt making them rather obvious to any who might care to look.”

            “I’ve been thinking of you also,” Serena confessed a little breathlessly as Dominic spared little to no ceremony in removing his own clothing.

Though Dominic believes he is doing what is best for the woman he loves, she has entirely different plans.

Sneak Peek Sunday - September 22 - A Dom's Dilemma #SPeekSunday #BDSM #Spanking

He demanded her obedience, but what she wanted was his love.

It's Sneak Peek Sunday again and that means I get to share another 6 paragraphs from one of my books.  Yay!

My submission for this week is from my 4th book, A Dom's Dilemma, a BDSM/spanking novel that is sometimes playful, sometimes serious and sometimes terrifying, published by Blushing Books.  Kelly and Jim, the two main characters, were secondary characters in Arrested by Love.  Though this story stands on its own, if you read Arrested by Love, you'll most likely recognize some of the scenes, since we see a little bit of Kyle and Tiffany in this book, too.

In this excerpt, near the end of Chapter Five, Jim Evans and Kelly Franklin are together at "The Velvet Chains," a BDSM club where they met that evening.  Kelly is receiving some aftercare after a session of intensive medical play she did with Jim that seemed a lot more real than play.  Aftercare is an important part of the BDSM experience.  Both the Dom and the sub seek reassurance from the other.  Jim enjoys holding Kelly, and she likes being in his arms, so this is a quiet period of reflection and getting to know each other.

            Under this lighting, which was softer and more intimate than the lights at the chaining station, his hair gleamed a medium golden brown, like mahogany with gold streaks.  Though similar in color, his eyes appeared darker and richer than his hair, which, she noticed, was beginning to sprout a few gray hairs near his temples.

            He was a large man, near 6'6" or a little taller, and she expected he weighed around 230 or so.  Firmly muscled, but not overly so, with enough brawn to make it difficult for anyone to take him down.  She was small in comparison, a fact made even more obvious when she placed her hand over his and the tips of her fingers reached only halfway between his knuckles and the first joint.  His long, lean fingers could be incredibly gentle, just as his slightly calloused palm had a sharp bite when it came down hard on her backside.  Everything considered, she found him attractive and not half as scary as she'd first thought.

            "So, if you don't wanna rest, how 'bout we talk for a bit?"

            "All right."

            "You ready to tell me who hurt you so badly in your back entrance?"

            Oh God, he would have to ask about that.  "Can we postpone that discussion until later, Sir?"

Kelly wants to know more about her new Dom, and at the moment he seems amenable to answering her questions.  But the questions he wants her to answer, make Kelly more than a little uncomfortable.

Kate, however, believed he was bluffing, so to prove his point, Peter reminds her what he will do by taking her over his knee.

            When Peter eased his grip on her wrists, Kate suspected the reprieve was temporary.  So, at the sound of the door opening and closing, she tightened her fists in preparation for what would happen next.

            "Unh uh," he murmured in warning.  "Just relax, Kate, so I won't feel compelled to prove you are currently positioned for a purpose I have yet to properly fulfill."

            She arched back to glare at him.  "Lay off the caveman tactics and let me up."

            His gaze resolute, she grimaced at the sight of his palm rising a fourth time.  Ruing her inability to keep her mouth shut, she tensed as this swat fell with a painful smack that had her kicking out in response.

Kate's is not in an enviable position at this point, even though Peter desires her agreement to his plan.

This snippet occurs about a third way into the book after Claire Daniels has finally convinced Germaine St. Justine, the two hundred year-old vampire, she hopes will ultimately save her brother's life, to make love. Claire's convinced herself she knows what she's getting into, but she's about to discover she's wrong.  Possibly, dead wrong, because making love to a vampire can be fatally addictive.

             Her body experienced countless orgasms, each more powerful than the last, yet she was denied even a moment's breath before the next one claimed her.  All she could do was ride each wave of the incredible, mind-robbing pleasure until she wondered if she would die of the onslaught of exquisite sensations.  At that very moment, Germaine carefully eased himself from her, but even then, she gripped his shoulders, not wanting him to stop, wanting it to go on and on, until....

Though a vampire's bite can be painful, the pleasure it ultimately brings is pure ecstasy.

My submission for this week is from my 3rd book, Arrested by Love.  A handsome, but strict, police officer  decides a spoiled socialite needs a special lesson in obeying the law.

Tiffany Morgan has been in love with Kyle Sinclair since she was ten years old, when he'd turned her over his knee for attempting to swim in a raging white water river. Though she'd been furious with him at the time, Tiffany never told her family what Kyle did. Instead, she began trailing after him like an annoying younger sister as she tried to gain his attention.

Now, eleven years later, Kyle, a patrol officer, is finding it much more difficult to maintain his distance from the irresistible and vivacious redhead who continues to invent ingenious ways to attract his interest. Though he dismissed her initial attraction to him as infatuation, as she grew-up, his own feelings of desire and protectiveness deepened. So, despite his constant struggle to resist the spirited little minx's lures, Kyle finally has to admit that he is losing the battle--badly.

In this excerpt from Chapter One, Tiffany Morgan deliberately breaks the law in order to get Kyle Sinclair's attention.  This isn't the first time she's gone out of her way to bait the police officer, so she is familiar with the routine.  Unfortunately, she's just admitted she knew she was speeding, which he considers to be a rash, reckless and punishable offense.  He is the process of writing her a ticket along with a recommendation she attend mandatory driver's training, when Tiffany gathers up her courage and propositions him.  Though she is obviously playing the flirt, rather than see the humor in her teasing, Kyle informs her she's overstepped her bounds and slaps handcuffs on her.

            "Ow, Kyle.  You're hurting me," she complained, struggling to match his long stride in her tight skirt and shiny black stilettos that she'd hoped made her legs look ten miles long.  His grip on her arm lightened slightly, but other than that he was cutting her no slack.  She made absolutely no attempt to resist him, since she already knew it would be useless.  Besides, this was what she'd been hoping for, right?

            "Get in," he commanded, pressing down on her head to protect it as he settled her none-too-gently, she might add, into the back of his cruiser.  Then leaning in slightly with his head, he said, "You can just stew there for a few minutes and think about what you did while I decide what to do with you."  Then he slammed the door.

            That ominous little warning had Tiffany's backside twitching again.

            Sitting obediently where he'd put her, Tiffany fumed--silently.  This part had not been in her plan at all.  She'd imagined him so overcome by his passion for her that he would sweep her up in his arms, place her on his lap, and then passionately kiss her.  He was not supposed to slap handcuffs on her wrists, toss her into his car, then slam the door and lock her in.

            Yeah, he might be a really handsome guy and all, with muscles a girl could drool over, but he was also a chauvinist pig sometimes.  She was sorely tempted to stick out her tongue at him, especially since his handcuffs had effectively curtailed her from giving him the one fingered salute, which she'd also like to throw his way right now.  It would definitely make her feel better.

            Except he stood in the front of the car with his back to her now, so her infantile gesture would be totally lost on him.  Scowling at his back, she scrunched up her nose and stuck out her tongue at him anyway, then groaned when he held up his index finger in response.  One.  Oh, God, that meant he was keeping count and she was in for it now.  She slunk back against the seat and waited.

Tiffany wishes she didn't have to resort to childish tactics just to get Kyle's attention, but he seemed determined not to ask her out no matter how many hints she gave him.  Kyle, however, is determined the young beauty learns once and for all that breaking the law carries serious penalties, and attempting to bribe a police officer is a spankable offense.

When Claire Daniels discovers Germaine St. Justine is a vampire, she sets a plan in motion to convince him to cure her brother of AIDS.  Though an innocent in sexual relations, Claire is savvy enough to realize the best way to secure Germaine's support is to enter into an intimate relationship with him.  However, having a vampire take you to bed isn't quite the same as sleeping with the boy next door.  There are complications. And Germaine is dominant enough to add a few more Claire hadn't expected.

In this segment, Claire has sought Germaine out at his private night club for the first time, only to discover his club offers much more than drinks for those with and without fangs.  The day room at Illusions is equipped to administer punishments as well.  While Claire is trying to reconcile with Germaine, one of his vampires enters the club with his mate in tow and demands permission to publicly chastise her.  What no one expects, however, is for Germaine not only to agree, but call for a supporting vote from his council. When the group unanimously agrees to the punishment, Claire doesn't think, she reacts by picking up a stool and striking the punishing vampire, who, unaffected by the attack, grabs her by the arms and demands to know who she is. Germaine answers on Claire's behalf.

            When Phillip didn't lower his arms, Germaine added, “If you wanted to pick a woman to fight over, Phillip, you chose the wrong one.”

            “I see,” Phillip murmured softly as his hold tightened. Claire gazed at him in confusion. She'd expected him to release her as quickly as Auguste had, not hold her hostage.

            “This woman deliberately sabotaged my council-sanctioned method of dispensing justice,” he announced in a voice that carried across the room. “I demand the right to see her punished.”

            “What?” Claire gasped, trying to wriggle free but finding it impossible to break her captor's painless yet unyielding grasp.

Claire has spunk, but throwing items at vampires who are conducting a ritualistic punishment, is not wise under any circumstances, as she is about to discover very quickly.

In this scene, which occurs in chapter six, Peter Thorton has just finished giving his wife, Kate, a relatively mild spanking for defying his instructions, and is preparing to make love to her for the first time in over two years.  Peter adores Kate, but he's not above teasing her a little to get her to verbalize what she wants and needs from him as he gentle nibbles her into a mass of writhing desire.  Though Kate understands fully what Peter wants her to do, she also finds it difficult to state her needs directly.  However, in this game the body rules over the mind.

             "Are you going to insist I say the words?" she asked, her frustration making the query a bit sharper than she intended.

            Rather than answer, he lowered his mouth to her belly and dipped his tongue into the slight indentation.

            "Peeterrr," she groaned in complaint.

Three sentences only.  Will the lady give in and say what he wants to hear, or is she going to take control and see to the matter herself?
