Corbin's Bend #BookBlitz Maren Smith spotlight on "Last Dance for Cadence" #CorbinsBend Book 8 #SpankingRomance

For my Saturday Spankings entry click HERE!

I'm such a fan of Maren Smith, that I'm super pleased to be able to showcase her new novel
Last Dance for Cadence
It's being released on Wednesday, and I can't wait to read it.

And not that I want you to leave, I love visitors, but don't forget to click the graphic on the right to visit all the other wonderful blogs participating in the Corbin's Bend Blitz.

The ad read: “Full-time housekeeper/nanny position. Live-in preferred. References and experience required. Salary negotiable.  Apply in person.”

Cadence Westmore knew she wasn’t qualified for the job, but for a paycheck and an apartment, she was determined to apply. As an ex-dancer with two bad legs and no experience with children, she expected to be turned down. What she didn’t expect was the instant attraction she felt when Corbin Bend’s resident doctor took her in his capable hands.
A widower with three boys to raise, Dr. Marcus Devon knew he needed help. But he also knew Cadence was the last person he should hire. Still he gave her the job, opening his home and his life to a woman as stubborn as she was lovely and as determined not to need him as he was to make her his.
She was her own worst enemy, pushing herself to exceed her wounded body’s physical limitations until the doctor finally stepped in to apply some good old-fashioned bare-bottom medicine. The more she rebelled, the more he took her across his knee until at last Cadence realized if she wasn’t careful, she just might lose everything all over again.

She got down off the exam table, evading his steadying hand when she wobbled, both knees screaming at the suddenness of having to take her full weight. They were going to scream even more during the long walk back home to Venia’s. Thirteen houses—it may as well be a thousand. How was she going to survive that distance?

The same way she survived everything else—one step at a time, teeth gritted, eyes staring straight ahead.

“Let me drive you—”

Oh, she must really look feeble. She almost laughed, except that might have come out sounding bitter and that just smacked too close to weakness. “No, thanks,” she said tightly, forcing the cheerfulness as she limped toward the door. “I can walk.”

He made another soft, puffing sound. The sort of sound a man made when he didn’t know whether to be amused or annoyed. “It’s not a bother,” he called, trailing behind her.

“Neither’s walking.” Stepping out onto the porch, she tried to close his front door behind her, but he caught it—damn it—and followed her outside. She kept her head up and struggled to control the limp, which hurt like hell, down each descending stair of those three stone steps.

“Are you always this stubborn?” Marcus asked. She shot him a withering look over one shoulder. Arms folded across his chest, he had propped one broad shoulder against a front porch post while he watched her go. His eyes were sparkling. Apparently, he’d settled on amused over annoyed. Already one corner of his mouth was losing its fight with the smile he was trying halfheartedly to hide.

That smile was her undoing. Her own annoyance erupted, surpassing all her best intentions to just leave and leave gracefully. “No, sir. As it so happens, this is my good girl behavior.”

Available for purchase on July 23rd!

When I was first asked if I wanted to do a story for the Corbin’s Bend series, I thought, ‘I can’t possibly fit another deadline in this year…Interesting concept, though. They’re going to make a whole community for people who like to spank. Ooo! They’ve got a community doctor. OOOO! I wonder if he’s taken already!’

Next thing I knew, I had another deadline and I don’t regret it. I had a lot of fun writing this story. I’d never been a part of a series created by one person but built up out of the collective imaginations of nine others. And frankly, I envied my character, Cadence.

Cadence was as much an outsider to that community as, well, I am. She was in the process of losing everything she had; I was in the process of moving. She packed all her worldly possessions into a single duffel bag and kissed the rest goodbye; I tried to do that, but my husband said no. Like I said, I envied her.

To me, Cadence is one of the more realistic characters I’ve yet done. Her independence and determination to do things for herself, regardless of whether it’s good for her or whether it hurts is based off someone I both know and love. My sister is my primary beta reader. She is also disabled from an accident that occurred almost twenty years ago. Every day I watch her do things she shouldn’t because, let’s face it, no one wants to admit they can’t take care of themselves. No one wants to admit they can’t do something as simple as stand up long enough to wash dishes or cook a meal (Cadence) or lift anything heavier than a can of pop (my sister).

When my sister read Last Dance for Cadence, she told me Cadence was being ridiculous for constantly doing things that could result in greater injury to herself. It wasn’t until she caught me staring at her, that my sister realized she was Cadence. My sister is also a writer, so I fully expect to see myself as a character in her next story. I also fully expect that my character will meet a horrible end somewhere around page three, but I do believe I’ve made my point with Cadence.

Most people fight the need to ask for help because we think we’re being a burden to those around us or we think it somehow weakens us as independent human beings. When Marcus looked at Cadence, the last thing he saw was weakness.

We should all have someone like that in our lives.

#SatSpanks - 7/19/14 - A Simple Misunderstanding - Establishing pain levels #SpankingRomance #CorbinsBend

He came to her rescue when she needed him most, almost to lose her when she disobeyed him.

Reading this material at Work could get you spanked.

Welcome to the Saturday Spankings blog hop.  My stories are all M/f with the dominant male determined to protect the woman he cares for and loves, or grows to love, by doing whatever it takes to ensure her safety and continued health.  This includes administering a spanking when she needs one.

My submission for this week is a sneak peek from my fourth spanking book, A Simple Misunderstanding, a Corbin's Bend novel due to be published on July 16 by Blushing Books.

In this scene, which occurs in the last third of the book, Eleanor Benson (Elly) has moved in with Gerald Douglas (Jerry) after she is released from the hospital, still recovering from injuries she received from her husband.  Jerry insists she stay close to the house and not take her dog walking in the park on the first day she's home.  However, when an older neighbor calls to her from the dog park, Elly disobeys Jerry's instructions and takes their two dogs with her, unaware her abusive husband is lying in wait for her.  When her actions nearly get her killed, Jerry determines Elly needs to learn obedience to him is not optional. After making sure she's healthy enough to withstand punishment, he orders her to stand in the corner.  When he gives her permission to turn around, he's seated on the bed holding a blue plastic thong (shoe, not underwear).  Ordering her to hold out her hand, he gives it a smack with the flip-flop.

“Pain level 0 to 10. Where would you rate that?”
Elly shrugged. “Zero.”
He rose. “Good. I want this punishment to be more symbolic than painful, since you’re still healing. However, I also need to make an impression, so we’re going to address several of your transgressions at once. We’ll take them in sequence of occurrence. First one. You walked to the dog park after I specifically asked you to go no farther than the backyard.” When she nodded in agreement, he continued. “Second one. You lied by telling me your bruised arm was nothing.”
“It wasn’t important to me. It was ‘nothing’ given what else was happening.”
“Okay. Fair point. However, did you think the injury would mean ‘nothing’ to me?”
“No.”
“No. You realized I wanted to evaluate the damage to your arm, and you refused to let me do so. Correct?”
“I didn’t want you more upset than you already were.”

After being abused by her husband, Elly is nervous about entering into another DD relationship, but she's disobeyed Jerry, and despite her stated excuses knows she was wrong to do so.  So she willingly, if not a little regretfully, accepts whatever punishment he decides is appropriate.

Blurb:

Though Arthur and Eleanor Benson have been practicing domestic discipline for three months since their wedding, he insists moving to Corbin's Bend, where domestic discipline is the norm rather than the exception, will revitalize their marriage. Elly has doubts, but since Arthur is the undisputed head of their household, they move. However, once Arthur becomes immersed in a community where spanking is not only permitted, but encouraged, his personality undergoes a dramatic change. Accusing his submissive wife of being lazy, disorganized and disobedient, he employs creative methods of pain and humiliation to mold Elly from the imperfect woman he married into the perfect woman he desires. And Elly finds herself a virtual prisoner in her own home, accountable only to the man who rules her life with a cane.

In his years as a vet, Jerry Douglas has seen what abuse does to animals, and he recognizes those same signs in Elly Benson during her daily escape to the dog park with her tiny poodle. Jerry steadfastly supports the tenets of domestic discipline and enjoys the freedom Corbin's Bend offers its residents, but he remains fiercely protective of anyone in need of a champion. And when he witnesses evidence of harsh handling, his instinct is to rush in and rescue. Problem is Elly Benson is a married and consenting adult who insists all her bruises and welts are nothing more than a simple misunderstanding between her and her husband, until the day Arthur Benson takes his authority and discipline one-step too far, endangering Elly's life.

#FriskyFriday - 7/18/14 - A Simple Misunderstanding #SpankingRomance #CorbinsBend

It's Friday!  Yay!  And I'm feeling a little frisky today, so I thought I'd share another excerpt from my new spanking romance in the Corbin's Bend series, A Simple Misunderstanding.  Actually, today is a two-fer, since Natasha Knight has graciously invited me over to her blog today, and I'm sharing another excerpt with her.

He came to her rescue when she needed him most, almost to lose her when she disobeyed him.

In this scene, which occurs in the middle of the book, Eleanor Benson (Elly) is returning to Corbin's Bend with Gerald Douglas (Jerry) after she is released from the hospital, still recovering from injuries she received from her husband.  Unfortunately, she's feeling a little cranky and nervous, so Jerry is receiving the brunt of her displeasure.  He's an understanding and patient man, but he has limits, and Elly is treading close to one now.

An hour later, a mass of butterflies fluttered in Elly’s stomach as she and Jerry approached Corbin’s Bend. “Do you think he’ll be there?” she asked, confident Jerry would realize whom she meant.
“I doubt it. All the same, I want you staying close to the house. No wandering about.”
“Jerry, they didn’t say I had to be confined to bed, and I plan to take Muffin for a walk. I haven’t seen her for so long.”
He pulled over at the next intersection, turned the engine off, and swiveled in his seat to face her. “Elly, you need to take it easy. You were in intensive care only three days ago. Your first day out of the hospital should be a period of rest, not dog walking. Understand?”
“Yes, but—”
“No. I bought Muffin a new bed and brought her into the house with me last night. I was going to move her into your bedroom downstairs. However, if you continue to argue with me about this, I’ll keep her upstairs with me.”
She blinked, then tried to fold her arms over her chest, but that hurt, so she turned away from him. He was trying to control her by denying access to her dog, and she didn’t like that one bit. “Fine.”
“No. It’s not fine. You can’t pick her up and I don’t want her jumping on you, either. I know you well enough by now to guess you’ll try to compensate by giving her attention in other ways. Unfortunately, that’s not possible for a few days, so I need you to do as I say, or I’ll remove all temptation by shutting her in with me and confining you to bed.”
Elly realized it was childish and foolish the moment she considered it, but a part of her didn’t care. Turning her head, she stuck her tongue out at him, then faced straight ahead and stared out the windshield.
He snorted. “Excuse me?”
“You’re treating me like a child.”
“And in what universe is sticking your tongue out acting like an adult?”
“You’re being mean.”
He gripped her chin and turned her so she faced him. “No, Elly, I’m not. It may seem like I am to you, but I have very good reasons for insisting upon my restrictions. I’m not saying these things to control you, or bring you to heel. I don’t work that way.”
She met his gaze. Seeing he was sincere, she apologized, though a part of her resented having to do so. “Sorry.”
“Better. Now, if you want, you may take Jack and Muffin out in the backyard, but no leaving the property and going to the dog park. Not today. Understood?”
“Yes, sir,” she replied, trying to mask the sullenness from her voice.

Elly needs to learn that Jerry will not compromise when it comes to her health. However, it's a lesson she's having trouble accepting with grace.

Wanton Wednesday - 7/16/14 - A Simple Misunderstanding - Jerry makes his point #SpankingRomance #CorbinsBend

For Horny Hump Day, click HERE

Today is the official release day for my new Corbin's Bend novel, A Simple Misunderstanding, but Blushing Books surprised me by releasing it one day early.  A winner has been selected on Maren's blog, and she's giving away another book in the CB series today.  So, to celebrate I'm sharing another excerpt, a sexy one in honor of Wanton Wednesday.

He came to her rescue when she needed him most, almost to lose her when she disobeyed him.

In this scene, which occurs near the end of the book, Eleanor Benson (Elly) has moved in with Gerald Douglas (Jerry) after she is released from the hospital, still recovering from injuries she received from her husband.  Unfortunately, she's already broken several of Jerry's rules, so he decides they should continue the punishment spanking he'd started a few hours earlier, after which he would pleasure her until she climaxed.  Since she isn't fully healed, he's using a flip-flop or thong rather than his hand.  The plastic shoe makes a great sound, but barely stings, so the punishment is more mental than physical.  He's asked her to repeat "I will be honest about my injuries," since she lied about some bruises she received, claiming they were "nothing."  We're in Elly's POV, and she's the first one to speak.  Let's see how they're doing

“I didn’t mean to hurt you. Honest. I thought I was making things better, not worse.”
“I realize your intentions weren’t purposeful, Elly, but lying never improves a situation, and it’s one of my cardinal rules. I won’t lie to you, so I expect you always to be honest with me. Understand?”
“Yes, sir. Except I just broke your other rule about speaking without permission—twice.”
“True. I should add swats for such blatant disobedience, but if I do, you won’t tell me what you’re thinking, and I think openness is more important than following rules. So, no extra punishment for attempting to alleviate guilt. Now repeat your words.”
She did as he asked, and with every downward stroke he reminded her why he considered lying to be destructive. His method worked so well, each subsequent swat left her more abject than the previous one; until he reassured her once the punishment was over, the slate would be clean between them. Even so, the slight pain in her backside wasn’t what caused her tears to flow. Her heart ached when she realized how gentle and kind he’d been to her, and how awful she’d been to him in return. By the tenth stroke, she was sobbing again.
“Shh, sweetie. Those first ten are over, done with and forgotten. Now, let’s see what I can do about changing your sobs into gasps of pleasure.” Turning her so she sat on his lap, he pressed his lips to hers while his fingers slipped between her legs.
Her hips jerked as his rough finger pad began teasing tender, sensitive flesh.
With a gasp, Elly leaned against the rock hard shoulder supporting her as she clutched the firmly muscled arm stretched across her hip. Their tongues entwined, she panted into his mouth as her fingers found and wrapped around warm, freckled skin sprinkled with soft curling hairs, and her knees parted and lifted in wanton invitation. His touch remained light, as though seeking to coax her into a passionate frenzy. Elly didn’t need coaxing, she wanted to be taken, not courted, yet pleasure sparked inside her as she jerked again, desperate for more than his fingers, but eagerly accepting what he offered.
Their lips fused and her torso stretched, striving toward the ever-elusive pinnacle of fulfillment she desired so badly her entire body trembled with need. Want, desire, lust, need and love all struggled for dominance as her lover increased the pressure he applied ever so slightly. Then two fingers slid between her slick folds as his thumb continued to tease the tiny aching nub that wept for release.
Pumping her hips in rhythm with his strokes, she dug her nails into his arm and moaned into his mouth. He slid his fingers into her warm wetness and continued to stroke. “I need you,” she murmured against his lips.
“I’m here, Elly. Right beside you.”

Elly needs to learn that lying to Jerry will never be acceptable under any circumstance. However, lying to him about the state of her health or well-being will definitely earn her OTK time.

#HornyHDay - 7/16/14 - A Dom's Dilemma - The lady wants to play #BDSM #SpankingRomance

Wanting and receiving can be two entirely different things.

This material is NSFW (Not Safe For Work). If you’re not over 18, please explore elsewhere.

Welcome back to Horny Hump Day, a regular Wednesday feature! In this blog loop, we hope to provide you with tiny erotic tidbits of the most sexy and sensuous moments in our books. Just 3 sentences.  And boy is that hard to do, sometimes....

My post for this Wednesday is from my 4th book, A Dom's Dilemma, an erotic BDSM/spanking novel published by Blushing Books.  Kelly and Jim, the two main characters, were secondary characters in Arrested by Love.  Though this story stands on its own, if you read Arrested by Love, you'll most likely recognize some of the scenes, since we see a little bit of Kyle and Tiffany in this book, too.

For this selection on Horny Hump Day, I'm continuing the scene in A Dom's Dilemma where Jim is making love to Kelly for the first time.  Though a little nervous, Kelly has been wanting Jim for a few days, and is eager to have him.  However, when Jim unzips his jeans, she begins to grow uncertain.  Jim instantly recognizes the wariness in her expression, and even teases her a bit while he carefully gauges the changes in her expression.  The union is so successful, Kelly is still in a stupor when Jim returns to the bedroom, so he gives her a quick swat and orders her to get some clothes on so he doesn't keep getting distracted.

"Yes, Sir," she replied, more than a little sullenly.  The moment his back was turned, he allowed his inner grin to widen into a full-fledged smile while he strode into the kitchen with a whistle.  The lady wanted to play, and he felt exactly the same way.

Jim is into control, not pain, and he wants Kelly to find pleasure in sex, but the Dom in him refuses to let her take the lead.  Things happen his way, and on his terms.  End of story.  Even so, Jim finds a great deal of pleasure in Kelly's response, and her trust is of paramount importance to him.

A Dom's Dilemma is available for sale at Blushing Books.  If you'd like to read more, I'm providing a 3 chapter preview on my web site's Spanking Romance page.

Now available on Amazon both for the Kindle and in Paperback!

I hope you enjoyed this sneak preview. Your comments are encouraged. Please stop by the  Horny Hump Day blog site  to get a peek at some of the other author's fine offerings.

Twisted Tuesdays - 7/15/14 - A Simple Misunderstanding Sneak Peek - #SpankingRomance #CorbinsBend

NEWS FLASH!: My book was released a day early.  It's available at Blushing Books now.
http://www.blushingbooks.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=2914

Anyone who knows Maren Smith will realize this is an especially fitting location for her.  The lady can write some seriously twisted stuff in a way that leaves you begging for more.  Marcus Devon is the hero in her upcoming release Last Dance for Cadence, and he's a secondary character in my book, A Simple Misunderstanding. To celebrate her new release, Maren is offering a free copy of each Corbin's Bend book.  Today she's doing an excerpt from A Simple Misunderstanding that features Marcus.

She'll be selecting one commenter on her blog to receive a free copy of my book, and announcing the winner the moment the book is released on Wednesday, the 16th (hopefully around midnight).

So, if you want a chance to win a copy of A Simple Misunderstanding, hop over to Maren's Bad Girl's Corner Blog and leave a comment.  But before you go, I'll post a Sneak Peek featuring Marcus here as well.  I mean, it's only fair. Maren shouldn't have all the fun.

In this scene, Elly is in the hospital after her husband's attack. Jerry has been spending all his time with her, so Marcus and Brent have come to spell him for an hour or so.

When Brent returned without Jerry, Elly’s stomach twisted. Her expression must have reflected her unease, for Brent promptly smiled and said, “Don’t worry. He only went downstairs for a cup of coffee. He’ll be right back.”
Though she gave a nod, Elly suspected Jerry’s unexpected absence wasn’t entirely due to sudden caffeine withdrawal. And that worried her.
Marcus Devon leaned forward to touch her hand. “Are you in pain, Elly?”
Smiling back at him, she shook her head. “No. I was just thinking about something. Sorry.”
“Don’t apologize. Your injuries were serious enough to be life-threatening, so you’re a very lucky lady to be sitting here chatting with us at all.”
Elly nodded, then frowned. “I can’t remember much of what happened. It’s all a blur to me now.”
“That’s not unusual, either. Your system has been through a serious shock. The doctors here will tell you what you can and cannot do, but your activities are going to be extremely limited for the next six weeks or so. Your body needs to heal, so no stairs, and no lifting anything above a couple pounds, which includes Muffin. Your dressing will need to be changed at least once a day, probably more often in the beginning. I’d say your temperature should be taken twice a day for a week; more often if you aren’t well. Your blood pressure should also be monitored on a frequent basis. These things are done every few hours in the hospital, and they shouldn’t suddenly stop just because you’re home. In other words, you’re going to need someone to watch you closely for the first week or so.”
“I hadn’t thought about that.”
“Perhaps it’s time you did, then. Given how well you’re doing now, you may be released as early as tomorrow afternoon, but I’d say Wednesday morning is more likely.”
When the room unexpectedly tilted, Elly shut her eyes and put a hand to her throbbing temple, fearing a migraine. Marcus didn’t hesitate to take charge.

Now head on over to Maren's blog and enter for a chance to win.
