SPeekSunday - 3/30/14 - Mortal Illusions - Claire catches a stranger kissing her hospitalized mother #SPeekSunday #Vampires #Paranormal Romance

For a vampire, love means watching someone you care about die.

Sneak Peek Sunday is a weekly excerpt hop where each author shares six paragraphs from a published work or a WIP (work in progress).

My submission for this week is from my 1st book, Mortal Illusions. A vampire romance published by New Concepts Publishing, Mortal Illusions is currently the first in a series of 3 books.  Its sequel, Fatal Desire, is currently under production.

In this excerpt, which is the beginning of the first chapter, Germaine St. Justine has sensed his former lover's pain and visits her in the hospital in an effort to ease her suffering.  After some gentle teasing combined with a soothing back rub, he gently bites her neck and draws out a few seconds worth of blood, then uses a hypodermic needle to withdraw blood from his arm.  Germaine adamantly refuses to make another vampire, but he doesn't want Marguerite to suffer.  Unfortunately, she wants more than he is willing to give, so to reassure her his affections haven't altered despite the many years they've been apart, he kisses her.

"Who the hell are you, and what are you doing to my . . ."
Germaine turned in time to see the young woman's luminous blue eyes grow wide with astonishment.  "Mother?" she asked, then blinked as if she didn't quite trust her vision.
"Yes, dear, it's me." Marguerite Danielson responded quietly and Germaine knew without being told that the livid young woman was Marguerite's daughter, Clarissa.
"You look surprised.  Were you expecting someone else in my bed, dear?"  Marguerite asked with a slight rise of her brows.
The daughter flushed a shade of pink that Germaine thought becoming and vaguely familiar until the lovely creature said, "Certainly not in there with you.  Or more accurately on top of you!"
Feeling a little like a confirmed priest being labeled as a French Romeo, Germaine retreated into polite aloofness.  "Pleased to meet you, too," he murmured smoothly before whispering to Marguerite, "Should I salute her or will a mere bow suffice?"

Marguerite's feisty daughter tends to attack first and ask questions later, a trait that is going to get her into a lot of trouble.

SatSpanks - 3/29/14 - A Dom's Dilemma - Kelly keeps her lips sealed #SatSpanks #BDSM #Spanking

She needed his protection, except he insisted on her honest submission first.

Reading this material at Work could get you spanked.

Welcome to the Saturday Spankings blog hop.  My stories are all M/f with the dominant male determined to protect the woman he cares for and loves, or grows to love, by doing whatever it takes to ensure her safety and continued health.  This includes administering a spanking when she needs one.

My submission for this week is from my first BDSM novel, A Dom's Dilemma, published by Blushing Books.  I'm picking up exactly where we left off last time.

In this scene, Jim, a former Texan who works as a police detective by day and lives and plays as a Dom by night, is in the Velvet Chains BDSM medical station working with his new submissive, Kelly Franklin.  When Kelly balks, Jim suspects fear, rather than brattiness, is responsible for her reaction.  After giving her repeated opportunities to tell him what's bothering her, he decides to continue with his original agenda.  However, when Kelly discovers he intends to give her an enema, her fear increases exponentially, which validates his suspicions, but doesn't address Kelly's lack of trust or stubborn refusal to submit.  So, after reminding his reluctant sub what BDSM is about, Jim gives her an ultimatum.  Say her safe word or submit.  Kelly agrees to do what he wants, but does so with grave reluctance.

(Note: excerpt has been altered to comply with Sat Spanks rules)

Though his spanking had hurt, and she was still a little sore, Kelly thought the cuddling Master James offered her afterwards did much to alleviate her discomfort.  Except he wasn't giving her a lot of leeway in the area of choices.  He intended to probe and test every part of her, whether she wanted him to or not.  And he clearly didn't tolerate resistance of any kind.
Kelly wasn't lying when she told him she'd had an enema before and it hurt.  The activity had been a BDSM punishment that had been closer to torture.  Kelly didn't think Jim would ever hurt or humiliate her so cruelly, but because of what Mike eventually did to her, Kelly couldn't stand anyone touching her back entrance, which made all anal activity a hard limit for her.  Unwilling to answer the many questions such an admission would bring, she normally sidestepped a Dom's interest through redirection.  However, eluding tactics were doomed to fail with Master James.
Kelly knew he suspected someone had hurt her, but she wasn't even close to being ready to tell him about Mike, yet.

Kelly isn't ready to end her association with Jim, yet, which is the only way she can avoid this procedure, so she reluctantly gives her consent.  But inwardly, she fears she won't be able to relinquish control to him in the way all Doms expect a proper submissive to behave.  And that means more trouble for her.

HornyHDay - 3/26/14 - Arrested by Love - Tiffany pulls the emergency brake #HornyHDay #Spanking #Romance

Take one dominant police officer, add in a slightly spoiled socialite, toss together and savor the tangy result.

This material is Not Safe For Work. If you’re not over 18, please explore elsewhere.

Happy Horny Hump Day!  If you've visited before, you already know this is a regular Wednesday feature on A Writer's Naughty Thoughts. In this blog loop, we hope to provide you with tiny erotic tidbits of the most sexy and sensuous moments in our books. Just 3 sentences.  And boy is that hard to do, sometimes....

My post for this Wednesday is from my 3rd book, Arrested by Love. A spicy spanking romance published by Blushing Books.

In this scene, Kyle takes his recently engaged fiancee, Tiffany, on a secluded picnic where he plans to give the woman he adores everything she'd been attempting to seduce out of him for the past three years.  Her inexperience is a great turn on for him, but it also means he needs to take things far more slowly than his body desires.  But he wants her first time to be a pleasurable memory, not a painful one, so he does what he can to make sure she's fully aroused before he takes her. However, Tiffany is less than sure he'll fit inside her, and once she gets a glimpse of him unclothed she calls her safeword.  Realizing Tiffany is serious, Kyle promptly pulls back and asks if she wants him to stop.

"Would you?" she asked, and he could hear the fear in her voice.
"Most definitely, if that's what you need me to do."
"And you wouldn't be angry with me?"

An innocent in every sense of the word, Tiffany has wanted Kyle to make love to her for years.  In this case, however, size does matter and larger isn't necessarily better.

SPeekSunday - 3/23/14 - Acting Lessons - Kate gets a spanking #SPeekSunday #Spanking #Romance

Peter loved Kate with all his being, but that didn't mean he'd tolerate an ultimatum from her.

For Sneak Peek Sunday we share six paragraphs from a published work or a WIP (work in progress).

My submission for this week is from my 5th book, and newest release, Acting Lessons.

He was a strict and demanding college professor turned professional director who excelled at giving acting lessons.  She was his shy and uncertain former student who became a professional actress under his tutelage.  They fell in love, married, and won two Tony Awards before tragedy struck and a simple kiss ripped them apart.

After a six month separation, Peter Thorton decides to take matters into his own hands by making his famous wife, Kate, an offer she wouldn't refuse.  Plainly put, he wants her back and he intends to do whatever is necessary to achieve his goal, even if it means giving his stubborn, willful leading lady a daily reminder over his knee that she promised to obey him.

In this scene, which occurs early in the first chapter, Peter Thorton, seated comfortably in an agent's office, is attempting to convince his wife, Kate, to give their marriage a second chance by signing her to appear with him in a College Summer Stock production of "Kiss Me Kate."  Kate isn't sure she can trust Peter with her heart again, since she believes he's been unfaithful to her, but she's never stopped loving him.  And though Domestic Discipline originally played a part in their marriage, their last two years together had them living like polite strangers sharing the same house.  Peter realizes he made a mistake in letting Kate do as she pleased, so he's determined to rectify matters immediately, and informs his famous wife that if she keeps acting like a brat, he will turn her over his knee.

Kate's entire body went on instant alert.  "Try it and I'll have you arrested," she warned, inching her chair out of his reach.
"I doubt it, but whether you will or won't makes little difference, since your threats can't stop me from doing what I feel needs to be done."
            "Go to hell."
Though she spoke the words softly, his eyebrows snapped together as if she'd shouted them.  With a subtle shift in his position, he leaned forward and scowled.  A reminder.  Peter had a rule against swearing.  Kate's mouth grew dry with uncertainty as an apology hovered on the tip of her tongue.  Then, with a silent curse at herself for playing into his hand, she surged to her feet and glared at her agent.  "I won't--"
She didn't get one word further before Peter grabbed her arm and yanked her face down over his knees.  "No!" she cried out, beating, pushing and kicking as hard as she could in an effort to get free.  "Let me go, you oaf," she screamed.  "You have no right to--"
His palm descended, cutting off her complaint.  Since the swat had been applied over several layers of clothing it hadn't hurt, but she still shrieked to let everyone know how strenuously she objected to the mishandling.  "Don, help me.  Call the police!"

Kate pushed, so Peter pulled.  Now Kate's regretting having pushed so hard.

SatSpanks - 3/22/14 - Mortal Illusions - Taken in by an act #SatSpanks #Vampires #ParanormalRomance

Show me an angry vampire, and I'll show you an unhappy mortal.

NOTE: Reading this material at Work could get you spanked.

Welcome to the Saturday Spankings blog hop.  My stories are all M/f with the dominant male determined to protect the woman he cares for and loves, or grows to love, by doing whatever it takes to ensure her safety and continued health.  This includes administering a spanking when she needs one.

My submission for this week is from my 1st book, Mortal Illusions. A vampire romance published by New Concepts Publishing, Mortal Illusions is currently the first in a series of 3 books.  Its sequel, Fatal Desire, is currently under production.

When Claire Daniels discovers Germaine St. Justine is a vampire, she sets a plan in motion to convince him to cure her brother of AIDS.  Though an innocent in sexual relations, Claire is savvy enough to realize the best way to secure Germaine's support is to enter into an intimate relationship with him.  However, having a vampire take you to bed isn't quite the same as sleeping with the boy next door.  There are complications. And Germaine is dominant enough to add a few more Claire hadn't expected.

In this segment, Claire has sought Germaine out at his private night club for the first time, only to discover his club offers much more than drinks for those with and without fangs.  The day room at Illusions is equipped to administer punishments as well.  While Claire is trying to reconcile with Germaine, one of his vampires enters the club with his mate in tow and demands permission to publicly chastise her.  What no one expects, however, is for Germaine not only to agree, but call for a supporting vote from his council. When the group unanimously agrees to the punishment, Claire doesn't think, she reacts by picking up a stool and striking the punishing vampire.  Phillip, who is unfazed by Claire's attack, demands she be punished for interfering with his council-sanctioned punishment.

When Germaine agrees Phillip's grievance is valid, he informs the room that he will carry out Claire's punishment himself.  Amazingly, the council protests, forcing Germaine into an open challenge with Phillip.  A sword duel to first blood.  Phillipa and Claire are seated on the sidelines to watch when Phillipa admits that she suspected Germaine had caught on to her and Phillip's plan.  Confused, Claire asks what she meant, but Phillipa hesitates before inquiring if Germaine initiated Claire this past weekend.  Despite her anger with the man, Claire isn't ready to discuss her intimate details with a woman she just met, so she declines to discuss it.

Phillipa's brows rose with sudden understanding. “I see. If that's the case, then I think I'd better keep my mouth shut until Germaine has a chance to talk with you.”
Giving the other woman a wry smile, Claire said, “I'm not sure either of us will live that long. Please, don't stop on my account. Believe me, there's nothing you can say that will make matters worse, and you could improve them.”
Though Phillipa still looked uncertain, she nodded. “As I said, with Germaine growling and tossing out insults like he was itching for a fight, Phillip and I thought we'd offer to scratch by staging a little show. Only it seems Germaine saw through our playacting and called our bluff.”
Claire couldn't believe her ears. “You're saying that was all a show? Phillip's accusation--your plea--Germaine's call to the council? Even the vote to have you whipped?

Claire is discovering these vampires live by different rules than those governing the mortal world, and she's afraid she's fallen in love with a man who will only break her heart.

HornyHDay - 3/19/14 - Deadly Enchantment - Dominic returns the favor #HornyHDay #Shapeshifters #ParanormalRomance

When a man gets carried away, it's the woman who's swept off her feet.

This material is Not Safe For Work. If you’re not over 18, please explore elsewhere.

Welcome to Horny Hump Day, a regular Wednesday feature! In this blog loop, we hope to provide you with tiny little tidbits of the most sexy and sensuous moments in our books. Just 3 sentences. The books might be already published, works-in-progress, or even classic literature we think you’ll like.

This post for HHD is from my 2nd book, Deadly Enchantment, a shape-shifting wizard romance published by New Concepts Publishing.  The story revolves around a young psychic woman facing off with the dark wizard of Ravenscroft, who she is convinced has brutally slaughtered her sister in a fit of jealous rage on their wedding night.

In this segment, Dominic's deepening feelings for Serena make it more likely his evil brother will target her.  Rather than risk losing her for good, Dominic decides to send Serena home directly after the funeral of his sister.  Serena doesn't want to leave, but arguing will gain her nothing but his anger and the likelihood of a more speedy departure, so she remains silent. Though Dominic is suspicious of Serena's new found docility, until she is safely away from him he insists she sleep in his bed.  Dominic knows he is endangering Serena's life by keeping her with him, but he is unable to let her go.  He desires her, yet hates himself for not having more control, and Serena is taking full advantage of the situation.  However, when she dips her head to take him into her mouth, Dominic's surprise prompts her to quip that she merely learned through his example.

Dominic let out a groan and dragged Serena up to fasten his lips to hers once again.  “Ah, yes,” he murmured.  “Now I remember.” His eyes gleaming with mischief, he ran kisses down the length of her body and returned the favor.

Torn between his desire to protect the woman he loves, and his need to be with her, Dominic takes what she so willingly offers him and gives back unstintingly.

SPeekSunday - 3/16/14 - A Dom's Dilemma - Kelly reveals a little about her past #SPeekSunday #BDSM #Romance

He demanded her obedience, but what she wanted was his love.

It's Sneak Peek Sunday again and that means I get to share another 6 paragraphs from one of my books.  Yay!

My submission for this week is from my 4th book, A Dom's Dilemma, a BDSM/spanking novel that is sometimes playful, sometimes serious and sometimes terrifying, published by Blushing Books.  Kelly and Jim, the two main characters, were secondary characters in Arrested by Love.  Though this story stands on its own, if you read Arrested by Love, you'll most likely recognize some of the scenes, since we see a little bit of Kyle and Tiffany in this book, too.

In this excerpt, near the end of Chapter Five, Jim Evans and Kelly Franklin are together at "The Velvet Chains," a BDSM club where they met that evening.  Kelly is receiving some aftercare after a session of intensive medical play she did with Jim that seemed a lot more real than play.  Aftercare is an important part of the BDSM experience.  Both the Dom and the sub seek reassurance from the other.  Jim enjoys holding Kelly, and she likes being in his arms, so this is a quiet period of reflection and getting to know each other.  Problem is, Jim has just asked Kelly a question she really doesn't want to answer.  However, her evasion also serves as an admission that she's lied to him.  Normally, a Dom would punish a sub for that infraction, but Jim has told Kelly he'll give her a onetime pass. Before they do anything else, he tells her he wants to get to know her a little better, so he's asking some pertinent questions.  Kelly's just told him her parents were killed in a 'break-in gone bad.' (Note: I edited this section down a bit to comply with the six paragraph rule and end with a lead-in to the next excerpt.)

"My mother hid me in a closet.  I don't remember much about it, but a policeman found me the next day.  I think I may have passed out, Sir."
"You said the nuns punished you?"
            "Yes, Sir."
            "How?"
            "Mostly with rulers, Sir."
Jim smiled, and Kelly found she really liked his smile.  It made him appear younger, more approachable.  "No, I mean did you get hit on the back of the hand?  Were you paddled?  How did they punish you?"

Kelly knows she makes a lousy sub.  She has a temper and a mouth that constantly get her into trouble, but she sees something in Jim that makes her want more of the type of mastering only he could give her.

SatSpanks - 3/15/14 - Acting Lessons - Kate's attempt at self-reliance backfires #SatSpanks #Spanking #Romance

Peter loved Kate with all his being, but that didn't mean he'd tolerate an ultimatum from her.

My submission for this week is from my third spanking romance titled, Acting Lessons

Setup: After injuring her knee and spending a few hours in the hospital, Kate ends up sleeping in Peter's bed.  He's taken very good care of her and she's torn between allowing him to continue leading the dance they've started, or leaving before she gets hurt again.  Her heart is still bruised and tender and she's not entirely sure she trusts her ex-husband not to hurt her again.  Though he's warned her to call him before she gets out of bed, Kate decides she needs to be less dependent on him, and more self-reliant.

Tossing back the covers, Kate slipped out of bed and stood for a moment to check her balance.  Then hobbling carefully, she worked her way around the bed toward the bathroom, when Peter entered the bedroom from the hallway fully dressed.

The moment he saw her, he slammed the door, strode over, and grabbed her arms.  Looking up at his furious expression, she could almost see smoke emerging from his nose and ears.  Knowing exactly what his anger portended, she immediately raised her hands in surrender and placed them lightly against his chest.  He moved in until their bodies touched, then slowly lowered his hands to her waist and glowered at her.  She was all too familiar with that look, and it didn't bode pleasant things.

Once again, Kate is not in an enviable position, and she knows better than to pull the lion's tail when it's growling a warning.

HornyHDay - 3/12/14 - Mortal Illusions - Vampires seduce the mind as well as the body #HornyHDay #Vampires #Paranormal

Most vampires drink blood, but not all of them go for the neck.

(Note: sentence-wise I'm over today, but I didn't want to combine Germaine's three to make them one sentence, and I needed to finish his thought.  Sorry.)

This post for HHD is from my 1st book, Mortal Illusions. A vampire romance published by New Concepts Publishing, Mortal Illusions is currently the first in a series of 3 books.  Its sequel, Fatal Desire, is currently under production.

This snippet occurs about a third way into the book after Claire Daniels has finally convinced Germaine St. Justine, the two hundred year-old vampire she hopes will ultimately save her brother's life, to make love. Claire's convinced herself she knows what she's getting into, but she's quickly learning her preconceived notions are wrong.  Possibly dead wrong, because not only can making love to a vampire be fatally addictive, they are able to read thoughts and feelings...
.

Seeking reassurance for an experience that was as alien to her as it was wondrous, Claire gazed at him with uncertainty.  “Was it as pleasurable for you as it was for me?”
"More so.  Linked as we are, my pleasure is doubled through yours.  Your feelings are extended to me directly through your thoughts and body.”

Though a vampire's bite can be painful, the pleasure it ultimately brings is pure ecstasy, but as is the issue with anything that offers absolute pleasure, you always want more.

A Writer's Naughty Thoughts on the Writing Process #Writing #Editing #Creating

All authors have a slightly different process for bringing concepts and ideas to paper (or computer screen), and Patricia Green invited me to share mine in this weekly hop that has authors' attempting to give definition to their creative process by answering 4 questions.  Sounds simple, right?

Question 1: What am I currently working on?

Okay, to start, I ought to change this question to: "What should I be currently working on?" because I find too many things to distract me....  "Oh, look, a shiny object...."  Now, what was I saying?  Oh, yes, I am currently working on meeting the deadline for my Corbin's Bend book that is due to Lazyday Publishing in May. The project itself is unique in that it has ten authors all writing about the same location, but with different primary characters and a mix of secondary characters that may or may not have been created by other authors.  60% of the book is plotted and the rest has notes about the direction I believe the story will take.  I'm also working on a DD book involving an office romance that I'm still plotting out.

Question 2: How does my work differ from others of its genre?

I'd have to say that even though my heroes spank my heroines, they don't do it because they enjoy the act, which is different from most other books in the genre.  The reasons they spank vary, but all of my heroes are extremely protective of the women they care for.  So, as a rule neither the hero nor the heroine receives pleasure from their spankings.  A cathartic release, yes.  A sense of renewal and a new beginning, yes.  But up to this point none of the spankings are what I would call "funishments."  My heroes don't spank because it's expected of them, or because they are sexual sadists who enjoy causing pain even in a consensual context.  And I don't write non-consensual spanking scenes.  That doesn't mean the heroine is looking forward to the punishment, but in my books "no" means "no."  So, as far as that goes, my heroines call the shots.  Though control like that does come with a price.

Question 3: Why do I write what I do?

When Stephen King was asked why he writes horror, he answered, "Why do you assume I have a choice?"  He writes paranormal thrillers because that's the way his mind works.  I write romances because that's the way my mind works.  I have spanking in them because I'm wired that way as well.  Do I believe in equality for all?  Yes, I do.  Do I believe a woman has the right to say and do as she pleases without recrimination?  Yes, and as long as she isn't harming herself or anyone else, most of my heroes would agree with that philosophy as well.  They are not out to turn a woman into a subservient slave, and they can admire a female who has a sharp tongue to accompany her equally well-honed mind.  But if a woman is bitchy because she's looking to start a fight, he'll start adding rules to the game that puts a quick end to that behavior.

Question 4: How does your writing process work?

I start with a concept, an idea, then I play "what if" for a bit to find the best characters, setting and conditions to support my concept.  Next, I do a rough plan for the book with a vague idea for the beginning, middle and end.  After that I start plotting out in a way that usually turns out to be a very rough draft with lots of holes.  I will gather notes and do some research to make sure I'm not writing myself into a corner.  Once my first rough draft is done, I start addressing all the holes in the story.  They're usually problems with the plot in regard to my character's motivation or reactions.  I do more in-depth research at this point and gather details, then after about a week, I do a read through and revise.  I read through the book on average around eleven times.  Once I think it's ready for editing I either send it out or put it through three editing programs.  Then, if my beta readers are available, I send it out to them for a fresh look.  Once I get it back, I revise again, and check sections I've changed to make sure I haven't added too many "that's," or adverbs or messed up with my there, they're theirs or were and we'res, and then I submit it to my publisher for another round of edits.  For me the writing is in the editing, but the fun is in the creating.

Well, that’s my process in a nutshell.

For next week (March 17), I’d like to turn the baton over to Penny Hasler and Anastasia Vitsky. On their blogs, they’ll be sharing their own writing process, and I’m sure you'll enjoy learning how they differ in their processes. (Note: Ana's been caught up in life, work and writing.  She said she'd like to participate, but I'm not sure this is a commitment she'll be able to keep.  If not, I apologize, but life has a way of getting to us all from time to time.)

Here’s a bit about Penelope Hasler:
Penelope Hasler is a postmodern spanking fiction writer who doesn’t write because she’s that darn postmodern. Not really. She’s just lazy. (N.B. Those are Penny's words, not mine.) She enjoys all the normal things that young ladies enjoy – shopping, chocolate, being spanked – and endeavours to imbue her writing with a sense of fun and a dash of insanity. She also enjoys dancing like a robot and honking like a goose. ;-D. You can visit her blog here.

Here’s a bit about Anastasia Vitsky:
Anastasia Vitsky wrote her first spanking story at the age of thirteen and never stopped. She writes female-centric stories of love, laughter, loss, and discipline.  You can visit her blog here.

Hope you continue along with the blog tour and find how though we're all different there's a lot about us that's the same, too.

Thanks for visiting.
