#MFRWHooks - 11/11/15 - A Simple Misunderstanding - A vet's tender touch #CorbinsBend #Spanking

Happy Veteran's/Remembrance Day
It's Book Hooks Wednesday!  Yay!  And I'm sharing another excerpt from my new spanking romance in the Corbin's Bend series, A Simple Misunderstanding.  It's sequel, Past Interference is included in the Love in the Rockies anthology.

He came to her rescue when she needed him most, almost to lose her when she disobeyed him.

In this scene, which occurs in Chapter Six, Jerry Douglas, who has spent the day with Elly Benson, has been asked to leave the hospital, so he returns to his veterinary clinic to check on his patients. Muffin, a tiny toy poodle, was injured when Elly's husband attacked her. Jerry's technicians have spent the day caring for the dog, and now Jerry is there to check her out to make sure she's healing the way she should be.

Muffin gave a tiny bark and Jerry laughed.
“You’re a smart one, aren’t you?” He stopped the IV drip and carefully unwound the bandage holding in the plastic needle. “I’ll bet you’d like a drink of water, too, wouldn’t you?” Another lick, but she held perfectly still while he withdrew the tiny catheter.
After putting pressure on the site for a second, he removed the gauze and checked for bleeding. Looked good. “There you go, little one. Let me get this out of your way, then I’ll want to change your pad, since you’ve been a good girl and peed. After that, we’ll look into getting you some water and a snack. Once you’ve eaten, I’ll try putting you down to see if you want to do some other good girl business in our exclusive inside turf stop.” Muffin’s little tail beat a rapid tattoo against her cage. “Yeah, you like that idea, don’t you?”
Muffin lapped up the water he gave her and gobbled down the two ounces of moist food he offered. When she was done, she looked at him expectantly.
“No more food for now. Okay, come here, little one, and let’s go for a quick stroll.” He lifted her out of the cage with care in order not to disturb her sore ribs, then set her down in the inside park they had for convalescing dogs. She gave the area a couple of sniffs and promptly did her business.
No visible blood in the stool, but he’d check a sample chemically to make sure. When she sat down and gazed up at him with her big brown eyes, he grinned down at her.
“I’m tempted to bring you back into the house with me, but I’m afraid Jack might give a playful nudge and hurt you, so I think it’s best we leave you here for the night.” He knew he was imagining the disappointment he saw in the animal’s expression, but he’d swear she could understand every word he said. Or at least enough of them.

All the animals in his clinic are important to Jerry, but Muffin is special since she belongs to Elly.

M/F Domestic Discipline in Colorado.

Though Arthur and Eleanor Benson have been practicing domestic discipline for three months since their wedding, he insists moving to Corbin's Bend, where domestic discipline is the norm rather than the exception, will revitalize their marriage. Elly has doubts, but since Arthur is the undisputed head of their household, they move. However, once Arthur becomes immersed in a community where spanking is not only permitted, but encouraged, his personality undergoes a dramatic change. Accusing his submissive wife of being lazy, disorganized and disobedient, he employs creative methods of pain and humiliation to mold Elly from the imperfect woman he married into the perfect woman he desires. And Elly finds herself a virtual prisoner in her own home, accountable only to the man who rules her life with a cane.

In his years as a vet, Jerry Douglas has seen what abuse does to animals, and he recognizes those same signs in Elly Benson during her daily escape to the dog park with her tiny poodle. Jerry steadfastly supports the tenets of domestic discipline and enjoys the freedom Corbin's Bend offers its residents, but he remains fiercely protective of anyone in need of a champion. And when he witnesses evidence of harsh handling, his instinct is to rush in and rescue. Problem is Elly Benson is a married and consenting adult who insists all her bruises and welts are nothing more than a simple misunderstanding between her and her husband, until the day Arthur Benson takes his authority and discipline one-step too far, endangering Elly's life.
