It's MFRW Book Hooks, a regular Wednesday feature!  This week, I'm sharing an excerpt from my 1st book, Mortal Illusions. A vampire romance published by New Concepts Publishing, Mortal Illusions is currently the first in a series of 3 books.  Its sequel, Fatal Desire, is currently under production.

 

This snippet occurs at the beginning of Chapter 13.  Germaine St. Justine and Claire Daniels have finally made up after their first fight and spent the night together making love. Despite being a two hundred year old vampire and therefore a night creature, Germaine gets up with Claire in the morning and informs her he'd like to watch her exercise.  The idea makes Claire slightly uncomfortable, but she agrees.  All is going well until Germaine suggests Claire remove her sweat suit so he can better gauge her workout's efficiency.  When Claire informs him she doesn't have any tights, he suggests she exercise the way the greatest athletes in the world once did.  It takes some convincing, but after her session Claire discovers that remaining unclothed with Germaine at the breakfast table felt right and incredibly intimate..

             Germaine chuckled.  “I love watching you reach your climax, which is something I cannot do when I take my own pleasure with you.  But even more than watching you, I enjoy touching you.  Your thighs are so fine and smooth that my fingers gain a pleasure all their own when they caress you.  So much so, I'd like to request a favor from you.”

             Claire was feeling particularly obliging.  “What is it?”

             “I'd like you to wear stockings instead of pantyhose.  I'd prefer you wore nothing at all, but the less the better.  I like the feel of your satiny skin on my fingers, Claire, not linen, cotton, nylon or whatever other materials you like to place upon your lower half.”

            Despite the intimacy they'd just shared, Claire still blushed.  Somehow the thought of going about without any underwear on made her feel wickedly indecent, so she glanced at Germaine beneath lowered lashes.  In actuality, he was telling her something of his own intimate preferences--he preferred his women unencumbered by undergarments that were difficult to remove.

Despite Claire's initial unease, Germaine wants to remove all the barriers he senses exist between them.  Even if it's just clothes.
