He came to her rescue when she needed him most, almost to lose her when she disobeyed him.
Reading this material at Work could get you spanked.
Welcome to the Saturday Spankings blog hop. My stories are all M/f with the dominant male determined to protect the woman he cares for and loves, or grows to love, by doing whatever it takes to ensure her safety and continued health. This includes administering a spanking when she needs one.
My submission for this week is a sneak peek from my fourth spanking book, A Simple Misunderstanding, a Corbin's Bend novel published on July 15 by Blushing Books. I hope you enjoy it.
In this scene, which occurs in the last third of the book, Eleanor Benson (Elly) has moved in with Gerald Douglas (Jerry) after she is released from the hospital, still recovering from injuries she received from her husband. Jerry insists she stay close to the house and not take her dog walking in the park on the first day she's home. However, when an older neighbor calls to her from the dog park, Elly disobeys Jerry's instructions and takes their two dogs with her, unaware her abusive husband is lying in wait for her.
When her actions nearly get her killed, Jerry determines Elly needs to learn obedience to him is not optional. After making sure she's healthy enough to withstand punishment, he orders her to stand in the corner sans panties. When he gives her permission to turn around, he's seated on the bed holding a blue plastic thong (shoe, not underwear). After he outlines why he feels a spanking is necessary and informs her how many swats he intends to give for each infraction, she sums them up only to realize he's talking about giving her sixty swats with the plastic flip flop he's holding.
“That’s going to hurt,” Elly informed him, though she suspected he’d
already come to a similar conclusion. After all, causing pain was part of the
process, wasn’t it?
“Some, but I don’t think accepting the swats will be the difficult
piece for you.”
His admission sent her stomach dropping to her feet. “You don’t?” When
Jerry shook his head, she asked, “What part do you think I’ll have trouble handling?”
“I will give you a sentence you are to repeat with every strike I
administer for each transgression. When the prescribed number is reached, we’ll
stop. At that point, I’ll expect you to apologize and tell me why you won’t
make the same mistake again."
Blurb:
Though Arthur and Eleanor Benson have been practicing domestic discipline for three months since their wedding, he insists moving to Corbin's Bend, where domestic discipline is the norm rather than the exception, will revitalize their marriage. Elly has doubts, but since Arthur is the undisputed head of their household, they move. However, once Arthur becomes immersed in a community where spanking is not only permitted, but encouraged, his personality undergoes a dramatic change. Accusing his submissive wife of being lazy, disorganized and disobedient, he employs creative methods of pain and humiliation to mold Elly from the imperfect woman he married into the perfect woman he desires. And Elly finds herself a virtual prisoner in her own home, accountable only to the man who rules her life with a cane.
In his years as a vet, Jerry Douglas has seen what abuse does to animals, and he recognizes those same signs in Elly Benson during her daily escape to the dog park with her tiny poodle. Jerry steadfastly supports the tenets of domestic discipline and enjoys the freedom Corbin's Bend offers its residents, but he remains fiercely protective of anyone in need of a champion. And when he witnesses evidence of harsh handling, his instinct is to rush in and rescue. Problem is Elly Benson is a married and consenting adult who insists all her bruises and welts are nothing more than a simple misunderstanding between her and her husband, until the day Arthur Benson takes his authority and discipline one-step too far, endangering Elly's life.

I love this story and these characters so much, Kathryn. Such a great way to meditate on the meaning of discipline in different people's lives.
ReplyDeleteI can understand why she'd be leery about a DD relationship after what happened to her with her husband.
ReplyDeleteGreat snippet, Kathryn. I like how he is underlining that it is discipline she is participating in to modify behavior, not the abuse that was previously forced on her.
ReplyDeleteGreat snippet Kathryn! I hope that Elly can take her spanking!
ReplyDeleteExperience says that flip-flops really hurt--stingy not thuddy, though.
ReplyDeleteSuz, interesting. I wonder if the difference is in the application rather than the implement. Ten swats from a flip flop didn't hurt me at all, but then the intention was not to cause pain as much to get my attention. I did perk up and take notice.
DeleteI really like this peak into your book. Discipline that includes the mental aspect in addition to the spanking appeals to me. On a funny note in reference to the "thong" you have featured here...my oldest son was talking innocently to his grandmother about shoes when she took it upon herself to inform him that his great grandma used to wear thongs all the time. He looked like he was about to have a heart attack with his mouth hanging open and cheeks flaming all the while my mother in law completely perplexed about his reaction. It was one of the funniest things I have ever witnessed. I eventually let them both off the hook by explaining their communication faux pau. Thongs are no longer considered shoe wear in America. LOL So beware moms, aunts, and grandmothers when communicating to the younger generation. You may just scar them for life!
ReplyDeleteLOL, Corinne. Words mean different things, but we can usually determine meaning from context, however, grandma wearing a thong, yup, I can see why that might cause a moment of surprise. One of the "funniest" differences I've heard was Dr. Spock's advice to young mothers that if the nipple became clogged when feeding their baby, they should simply stick a pin in it. Unfortunately, for British mothers, the nipple refers only to the part on the woman the baby sucks on, not the plastic bit that goes on top of a bottle. Ouch. Again, context didn't help much in that respect, either.
DeleteInteresting and so very true. It's one of the things I love about spankings. They can be such an emotional roller coaster. Fab snippet. :)
ReplyDeletePain comes in lots of different forms, and Elly's anticipated pain, corresponding to admitting she's wrong, is going to be a new experience for her. I think Jerry is very wise to limit the physical pain.
ReplyDeleteHe is a thoughtful yet firm disciplinarian !
