He caught her speeding in a school zone and decided she needed to learn even civil disobedience could have very painful consequences.
Another Friday, another excerpt to launch you into your weekend. For this Frisky Friday I am sharing a bit from my 3rd book, Arrested by Love. A handsome, but strict, police officer decides a spoiled socialite needs a special lesson in obeying the law.
Tiffany Morgan has been in love with Kyle Sinclair since she was ten years old, when he'd turned her over his knee for attempting to swim in a raging white water river. Though she'd been furious with him at the time, Tiffany never told her family what Kyle did. Instead, she began trailing after him like an annoying younger sister as she tried to gain his attention.
Now, eleven years later, Kyle, a patrol officer, is finding it much more difficult to maintain his distance from the irresistible and vivacious redhead who continues to invent ingenious ways to attract his interest. Though he dismissed her initial attraction to him as infatuation, as she grew-up, his own feelings of desire and protectiveness deepened. So, despite his constant struggle to resist the spirited little minx's lures, Kyle finally has to admit that he is losing the battle--badly.
The following section occurs about two-thirds through the book. Kyle and Tiffany have been separated for several weeks. She's refusing to see him after catching him in a lie, and her family has circled the wagons around her. Recently, Kyle learned Tiffany isn't doing well, so he decides to conduct a stake out near her home when he spots the family leaving the house. Tiffany is so weak, she can barely stand by herself. His protective instincts rushing to the fore, Kyle promptly intervenes by informing her father he'll take over now.
Patrick is Tiffany's father, Chrissy is her younger sister.

Tiffany turned and glared at him. "Get away from me."
Kyle could see the dark circles under her eyes more clearly
now as he shook his head. Then wrapping
his arms about her, he gently picked her up.
"Sorry, babe. That's not
going to happen."
She repeatedly beat her fists against his shoulders in
protest, but he barely felt the impact.
"Put me down!" Though
she was shouting at him, her hoarse voice made it sound more like a croak.
"We were going to take her to the doctor,"
Patrick Morgan told Kyle.
"Looks like you should have done that a few weeks
ago," Kyle said, frowning at Tiffany when she landed a fist on his
ear. "Stop that right now, sweetie,
before I decide you need a paddling more than you need a doctor."
Tiffany was breathing so hard, Kyle could almost see steam
coming out of her ears, but she ceased fighting him. Then he saw her eyes welling with tears.
"Shh, Tiff," Kyle said drawing her closer. "It's all right. I'm here now, and I'm going to take care of
you."
She shook her head, but made no further protest. Her brief resistance had used up all her
remaining energy so she laid her head against his chest and cried softly.
Tiffany is furious with Kyle, but at the moment she is so ill, even glaring at him takes more energy than she has, but Kyle is not about to be deterred.

Thanks for visiting. I hope you enjoyed this brief excerpt and wish you and yours a very Frisky Friday.
Love this snippet Kathryn. Love how she gave up fighting him in the end and how he takes charge and takes care of her.
