Its sequel, Fatal Desire, is currently under production. When Claire Daniels discovers Germaine St. Justine is a vampire, she sets a plan in motion to convince him to cure her brother of AIDS. Though an innocent in sexual relations, Claire is savvy enough to realize the best way to gain Germaine's support is to have an intimate relationship with him. However, having a vampire take you to bed isn't quite the same as sleeping with the boy next door. There are complications. And Germaine is dominant enough to add a few more Claire hadn't expected.
In this segment, which directly follows my April 13 SatSpanks, Claire has sought Germaine out at his private night club for the first time, only to discover his club offers much more than drinks for those with and without fangs. The day room at Illusions is equipped to administer punishments as well. While Claire is trying to reconcile with Germaine, one of his vampires enters the club with his mate in tow and demands permission to publicly chastise her. What no one expected, however, was for Germaine to agree.

This post for HHD is from my 2nd book, Deadly Enchantment, a shape-shifting wizard romance published by New Concepts Publishing. The story revolves around a young psychic woman facing off with the dark wizard of Ravenscroft, who she is convinced has brutally slaughtered her sister in a fit of jealous rage on their wedding night.
In this segment, which directly follows my April 10 HHD post, Serena Cunningham and Dominic Westcroft have taken shelter in a vacant cottage from a magical and malevolent storm cast by Dominic's brother, Terrence. When they are able to deflect the charged lightning with a kiss, they realize their magic combined is far stronger and more resilient than Terrence's expanding web of evil. Realizing their best chance of vanquishing Terrence requires them to join their powers, Dominic makes love to Serena, fully understanding his claiming her virginity will result in consequences that will change both their lives forever. What neither of them expects, however, is for Dominic to shift during the act. Serena isn't sure how much of Dominic's personality remains in the mind of his beast, but, like the man, the beast demands her openly given trust in return. However, when the leopard insistently presses its nose between her legs, Serena doubts her ability to give the animal what it seeks.

Favorite Things:
Favorite Color: That's actually hard for me. I love shades of blue, but I also love dusky rose. The basic color of my blog is a deep red, but that's because I wanted to give the hint of the bordello or naughty bedroom. I like red, but I wouldn't call it one of my favorites.
Favorite Animal: I love baby animals of almost every type. Even baby birds as ugly as they can look have a certain appeal for me. As a pet owner, I have always had doggies. My hubby is not fond of cats, so we've never had one, but we did have four dogs and three birds at one time. At this moment we have no pets, and the house is quieter and a little more lonely because of that.
Favorite Number: I don't know if I have a favorite number, but supposedly I do have a lucky number related to the day I was born. Not sure if it's really lucky or not, but according to a Chinese fortune cookie I received many years ago, that is my lucky number.
Favorite Non-Alcoholic Drink: No doubt about it, Mountain Dew. It is so bad for me, I now restrict myself to no more than 12 ozs a day, and try not to drink it every day. However, I love the stuff, and when I discovered they started to sell it in England, I was in seventh heaven when I was there.
Facebook or Twitter: Yikes, I have to choose? I have met a lot more friends on Facebook than I have on Twitter, but I think Twitter has exposed me to a lot more readers. So, like a mother torn between picking one child over the other, I have to pass on this one. It wouldn't be fair.
Your Passion: Like M.Q., I have to say Hubby first, then writing, then reading. I also enjoy doing things with my hands like Crewel and making promo items.
Giving or Getting Presents: I love to give more than receive. I like watching my friends' and family's expression when they are opening a gift I especially think they will enjoy. I get almost more excited than they do.
Favorite Day: I like quiet days, but my favorite day is one where I have accomplished a lot of things and feel my efforts have been productive. I like certain holidays as well, but those are time for laughter and friendship, not productivity.
Favorite Flowers: I have to say I love roses both for their hue and fragrance. Although, I recall the first time I smelled night-blooming jasmine and fell in love with the strongly scented flower. So, I guess I'm fickle, although I'd still list roses as my favorite.

Welcome to the first Sneak Peek Sunday of May. For Sneak Peek Sunday we share six paragraphs from a published work or a WIP (work in progress). My submission for this week is from my 3rd book, Arrested by Love. A handsome, but strict, police officer decides a spoiled socialite needs a special lesson in obeying the law.
In this excerpt, which immediately follows my April 7 post, Tiffany Morgan deliberately breaks the law in order to get Kyle Sinclair's attention. This isn't the first time she's gone out of her way to bait the police officer, so she is familiar with the routine. Unfortunately, what she's about to receive is a lot more than she'd bargained for. .
* * * * *
"Yes,
sir," she replied deferentially in an effort to ease his anger a
little. When she'd gotten into trouble
before, she accidentally discovered that it pleased him when she deferred to
him as "sir."
Handing him
the documents she had ready and available on the seat beside her, she watched
as he perused them, probably just to make sure she hadn't let either of them
lapse. That could get her in hot water
with him, too. Kyle was a stickler for
following rules and regulations, which was very unfortunate for her. Looking up at his stern features, she
patiently waited for him to pass judgment.
He jotted
something on the pad he held. No doubt
her license number. He fully intended to
give her a ticket, except she had other plans.
If she had the nerve to carry them out, that is.
"Did
you realize you were going 45 in a 20 mile per hour zone? A school zone?" he asked in his official
police officer voice.
"Yes,
sir," she answered, knowing there was little point in denying it. She had been speeding on purpose in hopes
she'd catch the officer's attention. The
kiddies were all safe in school, so she wasn't being reckless, exactly, just
speeding. Was it possible to barely
break the law?
He pushed
his glasses down his nose to glare at her straight on. "You knew you were speeding?" he
asked, incredulity stamped on his rugged features.

Tiffany wishes she didn't have to resort to childish tactics just to get Kyle's attention, but he seemed determined not to ask her out no matter how many hints she gave him. Kyle, however, is determined the young beauty learn once and for all that breaking the law carries serious penalties.

My submission for this week is from my contracted spanking romance titled,Acting Lessons. I put WIP in the header, since the work isn't published, and I don't have a release date for it, yet, but I received my contract from Blushing Books on Monday. I'm excited. This snippet immediately follows my previous excerpt from this book, which I posted on April 6th.
He was a strict and demanding college professor turned professional director who excelled at giving acting lessons. She was his shy and uncertain former student who became a professional actress under his tutelage. They fell in love, married, and won two Tony Awards before tragedy struck and a simple kiss ripped them apart.
After a six month separation, Peter Thorton decides to take matters into his own hands by making his famous wife, Kate, an offer she wouldn't refuse. Plainly put, he wants her back and he intends to do whatever is necessary to achieve his goal, even if it means giving his stubborn, willful leading lady a daily reminder over his knee that she promised to obey him.
Setup: early in the first chapter, Peter Thorton is attempting to convince his wife, Kate, to give their marriage a second chance by signing her to appear with him in a College Summer Stock production of "Kiss Me Kate." Kate isn't sure she can trust Peter with her heart again, since she believes he's been unfaithful to her, but she's never stopped loving him. And though Domestic Discipline originally played a part in their marriage, their last two years together had them living like polite strangers sharing the same house. Peter realizes he made a mistake in letting Kate do as she pleased, so he's determined to rectify matters immediately. In fact, he's just reminded her what he will do if she continues to act the shrew off stage.

Sitting
back, Kate crossed her arms over her chest, creating a non-verbal barrier. "Those days have long passed,
Peter. We're both much older and wiser
now to play silly games of dominance and submission. Wouldn't you agree?"
One
eyebrow arched. "No, I don't. Despite what your sharp words intimate, they
weren't games, Kate. Not ever. You may not believe me now, but I will put you over my knee if you
continue to act the spoiled dilettante."
Kate's
entire body went on instant alert. "Try it, and I'll have you
arrested," she warned, inching her chair out of his reach.

Kate is smart, but issuing a challenge like that to Peter is worse than waving a red flag before an angry bull. The lady can threaten all she wants, but she can't stop him from doing something he now believes is long overdue.

everyone. I'm happy to be here today.
"All right," Kathryn says, rubbing her hands together. Let's get to some juicy details.
First thing I want to ask: how long did you write
before you were published?
I
started writing when I was in high school, but I won't mention what decade that
was.
High School, eh? Surely that must have been only a few years ago. How long did it take
you to write your current book?
Capri's
Fate took months. She had a mind of her own. When I wrote the opening line, I
had a direction the book was going and then the characters took over and that
was that. I did manage to get them under control, but it took a lot of rewrites.
I totally understand the problems an author encounters when characters decide they're in charge. What sort of research did you do for
your book?
I had to do
a lot of research for this one. I researched private jets, luxury yachts, fine
wines, komodo dragons and corporate hierarchy.
There are some pretty incredible private jets out there!
Gee, that must have been tough, but it's good to learn you're a perfectionist. Where do you write?
In my
chair, next to a window over looking a field with my laptop. Or in my car, at a
stoplight or on the shoulder of the road when a incredible idea hits me. Or in
the hot tub. Let's say, just about anywhere.
Versatile, eh? When do you write, morning or night?
Usually I
start in the morning, but I can be a night owl. I've had email mail
conversations with my cp on the west coast and I live on the east coast and it
was after supper for her.
I'm a night owl myself. So, tell us, what are you currently reading?
A Sir
Arthur Conan Doyle. I found the book from the late 1800s of his, in a little
old book shop. He wrote it before he started Sherlock Holmes.
I love Sherlock Holmes and I'm enjoying Benedict Cumberbatch in the modern day British series "Sherlock." How did you come up with your title?
This one
just happened. I may have had the title before the story.
Titles usually don't come that easily for me. What are your current projects?
I have a
partially written erotic, medieval fantasy – working title – Dragon Fire. There
is a prince, a bewitched wench and a dragon and since I'm on chapter two,
that's all I've got so far.
LOL. What was it you said about characters taking control? Even so, Dragon Fire sounds like something I'd enjoy. Now, I'd like you to name one entity (person, place or
thing) you feel supported or inspired you outside of your family members.
My cps –
that's one entity even though it is more than one person.
Critique partners are invaluable. Who designed your cover?
The cover
for Capri's Fate was designed by Kayden McLeod and I love it.
Great cover, especially with the moon. Now that you're an established author with at least four titles published, do you have any advice for other
writers?
It's romantic
to think, "I'll be a writer," but it's amazingly hard. Criticism –
well-intentioned or not – is hard to take. The market is massive and it is so
hard to break in. There has to be a passion inside you that is willing to put
up with being rejected and criticized, yet still drive you back to your laptop
to keep writing.
Lastly, do you have anything specific that
you want to say to your readers?
I love
hearing from my readers. A few fans have contacted me and that was great. You
can Twitter or Facebook me. I don't bite. I'd love to learn what you liked or
didn't like in one of my stories.

Lisa has agreed to join us today to talk a little about her books and share a few things about herself. Hi, Lisa. The first thing we want to know is what gave you the idea for Click and Double Click? Did you
include any experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
Click is loosely
based on my real-life dating (mis)adventures, as well as stories friends have
shared with me. In some cases, things are written as they actually
occurred. Other scenarios are
exaggerated for entertainment value or comedic affect. And some scenarios are completely
fictionalized. But I really did go out on a date with someone I met online who
started every story (no joke!) with
“My buddies and I were out drinking last night.”
Ah, the truth comes out. Your story is one of experience. So, tell us.... What sort of
research did you do for your book?
My husband and I met online on
a popular dating website. After we
married, I was recalling some of the hilarious experiences that I had with both
traditional and online dating. I decided to capture some of them in
writing and from there, a novel emerged. The ultimate goal was to
create a fun read for anyone who has ever had a bad date, been in love, been
dumped, or is searching for "the one." But the happy ending is
real. Steve and I have been happily married for ten years and have two
amazing daughters - ages 8 and 6.
I love happy endings, and think they are an absolute requisite. So, which of your main characters do you identify with most?
I most readily identify with Renee.
She and I share a lot of qualities including a self-deprecating sense of
humor, fear of flying, motivation in our PR careers and love of baking. Mark is loosely based on a friend who
encouraged me to try online dating. He’s
a terrific guy who is still himself searching for “the one.” So if you know any nice single girls, let me
know. ;)
But, my favorite character is Shelley.
She’s confident, brash, outrageous and wholly unapologetic for her
choices. She was so fun to write. Her hilarious habit of giving nicknames to
her “man du jour” was inspired by a childhood friend of mine who had a nickname
for a guy in college that she admired from across the dorm cafeteria. She called him Maverick because he looked like
Tom Cruise in Top Gun. Much like Shelley, she is a self-confident,
gorgeous, lovely gal and it wasn't long before they met and dated for a
spell.
Why don't you tell us something personal about you, now? Where do you
write?
I sit in my home office at a HP desktop computer with a really big
screen. My eyes grow tired pretty easily
in my old age ;) And I like to write
with the television on in the background.
When I first started writing, I was obsessed with Law & Order reruns. Now I can’t seem to get enough of NCIS. I guess there’s a part of me that likes to
see justice served.
I enjoy NCIS, too, as well as Law and Order. When do you
write, morning or night?
I started writing the book after my husband and I married but before
we had kids.Then I had to take a break
from writing due to the rigors of motherhood.But I had always told myself – even as a little girl – that I would write
a book one day.So, I made the
commitment to finish the book.I wrote
in the mornings while the girls were at school or at night after they went to
sleep.I made it a goal to write – even
if only for a half hour – every day.
My hat's off to you. I am not a morning person, so most of my heroines aren't either. I love the titles of your books. Tell us how you came up with them.
I liked the double meaning of click – both “clicking” a mouse while
using a computer for online dating and “clicking” or making a special
connection with someone. When it came
time to right the sequel, a friend suggested Double Click which fit with the “happily ever after’s” in the
book. Upon seeing the Double Click cover, another friend said,
“Can't wait for part three, "Right
Click"; the story of how Renee becomes a conservative and falls madly in
love with a one percenter!" LOL!
Good to know you're planning a sequel. Do you have a
message in your novel(s) that you want readers to grasp from your books?
I’ve said many times before, if it happened for
me, there’s hope for you. And, as my
grandmother used to say, for every chair, there’s a tush. Love is out there; just be patient. And concentrate
on being a complete, happy and fulfilled person on your own. When you are
happy and secure in your own life, you will be much more attractive to someone
else. Second, there’s
nothing like having a group of close friends who can support you when things
get tough, laugh with you when things get ridiculous, console you when you’re
down, and cajole you into doing things that they can see are good for you, but
you are reluctant to embrace.
Hope is vital since we use it to manifest our dreams. Given that you used hope as your general theme or message, can you name one
entity (person, place or thing) you feel supported or inspired you to write outside of your
family members.
I’ve been greatly influenced by
Charles Rosen, one of the producers of the original Beverly Hills 90210. I had
interviewed him for an alumni magazine article while I was in graduate school.
And I'll never forget what he told me: "Don't
fall in love with your words, because somebody above will probably change
them."
After graduate school, I moved
to Atlanta and worked at a small PR agency for nearly three years and then
spent 13+ years with one of the largest global PR firms. I’ve worked with some of the biggest consumer
companies in the world including McDonald’s, Ford, Sony and Gatorade. And I’ve spent countless hours writing news
releases, bylined articles, marketing proposals, brochures, advertising copy,
public service announcements, radio copy, mat columns, fact sheets, photo
captions, media alerts, pitch letters, letters to the editor, video news
releases, etc. I’ve carried Mr. Rosen’s
words with me every day as
colleagues, bosses and clients have “changed my words” sometimes for the
better, sometimes for the worse.
When it came time for me to
write something personal, based on my own experiences and initially for my own
pleasure, I relished the opportunity to write what I wanted, how I wanted and
when I wanted.
You've clearly written books that are reflective of your style, and because they are so different from the norm, your unusual style posed a certain risk. What was the
hardest part of writing your book?
The hardest part was keeping the timeline and email exchanges
organized.Sometimes, I would have to
look back a few pages earlier to make sure I had cc’d or bcc’d the right people
on an email and that the subject lines were consistent.In some cases, there were replies to forwards
to replies.Keeping it all straight was
a challenge, but essential to the book’s format.
I can imagine how you might find that challenging. Tell us how
long it took you to write your current book?
Click: An Online Love Story was an 8-year
endeavor.Once I released it, the
feedback was beyond flattering.I was
thrilled that people were feeling invested in the characters and wanted to know
more about the characters.So I wrote a
sequel, Double Click.That book took about 8 months to write, and a
few extra to edit, fine tune and publish.I hope people find both books to be light and breezy reads.
Kudos to you for trying something new and different. Now, for something fun. If you could
have any super power, what would it be?
Wonder Woman and her magic lasso had the right
idea. I would want the ability to compel
people to tell the truth. That way, I
would know for certain whether my husband really thinks I can’t sing or is just
teasing me.
