Frisky Friday - Fun Sex Facts

Below are some links to sites that present some fun sex facts

http://www.sheknows.com/love-and-sex/articles/803194/fun-sex-facts
This one has a 1950s sexual education video at the end.  Actually, it's more about a young woman dealing with her first menstruation.  We've come a long way, baby.

http://singleedition.com/advice/85-Fun-New-Sex-Facts.html
This one has 85 "fun" facts.  Below are a few of them that made me smile:

9 An orgasm can cure your stage fright! A Scottish study found that following Sexual release, people had an easier time with public speaking.   I may have to use this little fun fact in my current WIP.

18 Men take more risks when they know hot women are looking.   Now why doesn't this surprise me?

19 Snuggle with him while watching TV at night. Couples who cuddle regularly are eight times less likely to get depressed than those who kiss only during intercourse.  Yeah, I really like to do this one.

34 For every 16 kilos an overweight man loses, his penis appears to grow one inch.  Talk about an incentive for weight loss.

48 One in four women over 35 says she has never had sex.  Now that one surprised me.  That's 25% of women over 35.

54 Your morning coffee may be an aphrodisiac: one study found that caffeine made rats hornier.   Hmm.  So, should you really have that "extra" cup before you go to work?

65 When women orgasm, the areas of the brain associated with fear shut off.  Gosh, if that happens to women, what happens to men?

79 While 95 percent of women consider penile - vaginal intercourse sex, only 89 percent agree if there’s no ejaculation.  So, if the guy doesn't ejaculate, it isn't really sex?  News to me.

http://www.lionsdenu.com/the-interesting-the-odd-the-icky-69-sex-facts/
69 - Interesting odd and icky facts about sex.  Hmm.  Think the number is arbitrary?

3. In Colorado, it is against the law to kiss a sleeping woman. (But how would they know unless they have bedroom cameras? This isn’t Big Brother. And who doesn’t love waking up to kisses?! Weird.)

6. The penalty for masturbation in Indonesia is decapitation.  (Whoa!  That's taking sexual repression a little too far, I think.)

9. Donald Duck comics were once banned from Finland because Donald doesn’t wear pants.  (Yeah, I noticed that, too.)

15. Marilyn Monroe, the most celebrated sex icon of the 20th century, confessed to a friend that despite her three husbands and a parade of lovers, she had never had an orgasm.  (Now I find that hard to believe...)

23. Historical records show that even in 1850, women attempted to practice birth control. The most common method was a mixture of crocodile dung and honey placed in the vagina in the hopes of preventing pregnancy.  (Yikes!)

29. Women who read romance novels have sex twice as often as those who don’t.  (So, keep reading ladies!)

30. Topless saleswomen are legal in Liverpool, England – but only in tropical fish stores. (But of course!)

36. The Vibrator, a common sex toy for women, was originally designed in the 19 century to fight the anxiety-related symptoms of hysteria. There was even a play done about it, In the Next Room (also known as he Vibrator Play) in 2009. (That's news to me.  Has anyone seen it?)

41. The first couple to be shown in bed together on prime time television were Fred and Wilma Flintstone. (Yabba dabbo dooooo indeed!)

51. It takes sperm about 48 hours to move up the vaginal canal, through the cervix, and into the fallopian tube where fertilization begins. (That's two days, so make sure you keep that in mind when marking your calendar)

55. In Santa Cruz, Bolivia, it is illegal for a man to have sex with a woman and her daughter at the same time. (Makes you raise an eyebrow as to why that rule had to even be officially made.)

60. The term “blow job” comes from the Victorian times. In Victorian times, a slang term for a prostitute was “blowsy.” At the same time, “blow” was slang for ejaculation. Consequently, by the 1930s, the act of fellatio came to be known as a blow job. (Okay, I've now learned my one fun fact for the day.)

What you can learn from just a little research on the net.  Have a fun and frisky Friday!

Horny Hump Day - Three Sexy Sentences from Mortal Illusions

This material is Not Safe For Work. If you’re not over 18, please explore elsewhere.

Welcome to Horny Hump Day, a regular Wednesday feature! In this blog loop, we hope to provide you with tiny little tidbits of the most sexy and sensuous moments in our books. Just 3 sentences. The books might be already published, works-in-progress, or even classic literature we think you’ll like.

This post for HHD is from my 1st book, Mortal Illusions. A vampire romance published by New Concepts Publishing, Mortal Illusions is currently the first in a series of 3 books.  It's sequel, Fatal Desire, is currently under production. In this segment, Claire Danielson has finally convinced the two hundred year-old vampire, she hopes will ultimately save her brother's life, into making love to her.  But this vampire's bite is decidedly different from anything she's ever seen in the movies!

* * * * *
The smile in his eyes changing to a heated glow, Germaine willingly followed Claire's lead to Lucy Seward's lacy four poster bed.  The platform mattress was exceptionally hard for stage use, but all he did was perch her on the edge of it.  Then raising her calf-length suede skirt and silk under-slip to her waist, he gazed long and lovingly upon the view she offered him.

Six Sentence Sunday from Arrested by Love

Welcome to my 6SS, a regular Sunday feature of erotic romping. In this offering, I hope to provide you with tiny little tidbits of the most sexy and sensuous moments in my books. Just 6 sentences, that I intend to build from my Horny Hump Day 3 sentence feature. The books might be already published, works-in-progress, or even sentences from other sexy books I think you’ll like.  Of course, I will properly attribute all works, even mine.

My current post is from my 3rd book, Arrested by Love.  An erotic spanking novel published by Blushing Books. In Arrested by Love Tiffany Morgan, a twenty-one-year-old carefree socialite, has fallen "head over heels" in love with Kyle Sinclair, her handsome and somewhat friendly local patrol officer.  Being both a policeman and a former BDSM Dominant, Kyle tended to express his occasional displeasure over Tiffany's antics with an intimate, panties down, over the knee spanking.  But Tiffany prevailed and eventually caught her police officer, who, after asking her to marry him, has taken Tiffany on a secluded picnic to give the woman he adores everything she'd been attempting to seduce out of him for the past three years.

* * * * *

Tiffany started to complain when Kyle thrust inside her again.  It didn't hurt exactly, but it didn't give her the same tingles his tongue had when he'd put his mouth on her.  He continued to move slowly in and out of her until she felt the beginning of something build deep inside her.  Then reaching under her to clasp his hands beneath her bottom, he lifted her hips a fraction.  The next time he pushed into her, Tiffany's eyes widened with her gasp.  He'd somehow managed to hit a spot that made her insides shiver with involuntary tremors of pleasure.

Frisky Fridays - What it Means to be Polyamorous - The Reluctant Dom

Another serious topic for a weekly post that I hoped would be lighthearted fun and naughtiness, but one that is striking me very strongly today.  I personally would find sharing sexual partners or being shared sexually distasteful.  I'm strictly a one girl, one guy, sort of chick.  Straight and Monogamous.  Although, I do believe there is a slightly kinky side to me, which is why I enjoy reading and writing BDSM and DD romances.  Though the two share a similarity in submission and control, they have very different dynamics IMHO.

For BDSM, whether or not the couple are Master/slave or Dominant/submissive is really just a matter of degree.  Although I realize that not all D/s M/s relationships are M/f (Male/female), for my purposes I am going to presume this is the case.  Some Doms believe that if their submissive really wants to prove her desire to please them she should feel pride in the fact that they value her enough to share her.  Perhaps she even believes that her Dom is paying her the highest of compliments by giving her out for others to enjoy.  Her job, so to speak, is to prove her total obedience and commitment to his wants and desires.  He believes the woman he's dominating or mastering should view it as a privilege to serve him in this way.

I am not a person to put down another's choice in lifestyle, but I feel non-monogamous relationships are potentially destructive.  Menages are very popular in erotic romances these days.  Perhaps women who enjoy them nurture fantasies of having more than one man make love to them at the same time.  I know many men have fantasies about having more than one woman in bed with them.  I simply have difficulty accepting such relationships as stable and healthy.  And after reading an article by a concerned Dom and husband who now regrets participating in such a relationship because of the damage it has done, and is still doing, to his submissive wife, I feel even more strongly against it.  Romance books can make sharing sexual partners look and sound exciting and alluring, but when real people are involved, psyches can get badly damaged.

DD (Domestic discipline) relationships, on the other hand, appear to always be monogamous.  Perhaps it too has different flavors, but from what I've observed these relationships are comprised of a wife and a husband (sometimes girlfriend and boyfriend planning to marry) in a committed relationship where the wife has agreed that her husband, as the Head of the Household, is deserving of her respect, obedience and submission.  As HOH it is the husband's duty to ensure his wife takes care of herself, their home and their family, but mostly herself.  He does this by establishing some rules that are usually mutually agreed upon.

These rules may be open to negotiation, but not interpretation.  They are more than guidelines, and definitely more than suggestions.  They are rules that if broken can subject the wife to punishment at her husband's discretion.  Usually this entails her spending time over his knee getting a bare-assed spanking.  These are married couples who have agreed the husband has not only the right, he has a duty to chastise his wife through corporal punishment.

Because DD relationships are monogamous, the issue of sexual sharing is found primarily in BDSM.  I don't believe many open marriages exist in DD, but I suppose it is possible.  So, this brings me back to my topic.  Polyamarous relationships and The Reluctant Dom.

I recently read The Reluctant Dom by Tymber Dalton.  It is a well-written, tear-jerking novel that is the story of a dying Dom who is determined to ensure his submissive wife still gets everything she needs when he passes.  I did cry while reading it and even though I understood why he was willing to share his wife with his best friend, it still bothered me.

No coercion was involved--she wanted it.  Actually, she reveled in it.  She had fantasies about these two men making love to her at the same time.  Just these two, no others.  So, she was totally on board with it, her husband was on board with it and finally the Dom in training gets on board with it, but I just couldn't.  That is not to say that I'm sorry I read the book.  I'm not.  It truly showed a Dom could be so protective and loving of his submissive that he is willing to do anything to make her happy.  The sexual sharing that took place was safe, sane and consensual, but it still bothered me.  There aren't many scenes in the book where threesomes take place, and I didn't mind her serving her men separately, nor did I mind them bundling together like a passel of puppies.  It was solely the menage sex that had a part of me drawing back.

I don't think I'm alone in my feelings, but I know my opinion is not shared by the majority of erotic romance writers and readers.    Menages, be they m/f/m or f/m/f or f/f/m or m/m/f or any other combination, just don't do it for me.  I wanted to share this post with others because of the article I just read and because I didn't realize sexual sharing was going to take place in the story, even though Amazon clearly lists it as having menage.

I don't often write reviews under my name, but I wrote a review on Goodreads for The Reluctant Dom.  I liked the book, and would recommend it to readers who enjoy BDSM love stories meant to tug at your heart.  But if you feel the same way about menages that I do, I suggest you go into it forewarned.  It may not strike you as it did me, but even if it does, I think you'll find it is a very good book and one worth reading more than once.

Arrested by Love is in the Top 10 Best Selling Spanking E-Books at Blushing Books

Arrested by Love, published on 11/1/2011 is number 7 on Blushing Books best-selling list of 2011.  It is among great company, so I am thrilled.

Korey Johnson at Blushing Books wrote the article for the Cherry Red Report, and she did a very nice write-up on Arrested by Love.

7. Arrested by Love by Kathryn R. Blake
This story sold a hundred copies over its first weekend–it flew right out of the door, with reason. It has everything. It’s like a buffet table of spanking goodies. We have some domestic discipline, we have some BDSM, we have some age play roleplay and some master-slave built in.
Not only that, but it’s a romance with hints of a mystery, all bundled up in a hard-to-handle situation, so the plot will keep you interested even if the vast amount of spankings doesn’t.
Kathryn’s a brand-new author for us but I can say she’s coming along swimmingly.

Six Sentence Sunday - Deadly Enchantment

This material is Not Safe For Work. If you’re not over 18, please explore elsewhere.

Welcome to my 6SS where I hope to provide you with tiny little tidbits of the most sexy and sensuous moments in my books. Just 6 sentences, that I intend to build from my Horny Hump Day 3 sentence feature. The books might be already published, works-in-progress, or even sentences from other sexy books I think you’ll like.  Of course, I will properly attribute all works, even mine.

My current post for 6SS, is from my 2nd book, Deadly Enchantment.  A shape-shifting wizard romance published by New Concepts Publishing, Deadly Enchantment concerns a young psychic woman facing off with the dark wizard of Ravenscroft, who she is convinced has brutally slaughtered her sister in a fit of jealousy on their wedding night.

In this segment, Serena Cunningham and Dominic Westcroft have taken shelter in a vacant cottage from a magical and malevolent storm cast by Dominic's brother, Terrence.  When they are able to deflect the charged lightening with a kiss, they realize that by coming together their magic is far stronger and more resilient than Terrence's web of evil ever could be.  So, Dominic prepares the cabin with the full realization that his claiming Serena's virginity will result in consequences that will change both their lives forever.

He moaned softly at her touch and rolled onto his back, pulling her down on top of him.  She expected him to remove his shirt from her back with the same magic he’d used to remove her clothing in the library, but for the moment he was content to use the thin fabric to his advantage as his lips sought out her breasts.  He suckled gently, dampening the fabric with his tongue, then opening his mouth he breathed out so that the warmth of his breath caused the fine material to flutter against her, and she could feel her flesh pucker with pleasure in reaction.
His lips curved into a thoroughly satisfied grin.  “I’d say you liked that.”
Before she could respond, he turned so that she lay on her back, and he lay on his side looking down at her.  His hand reached beneath the hem of his shirt and slid with slow purpose up her calf to her thighs.

Guest Post - When Penises Run Amok by Patricia Green

Before we get into the article, I'd like to say thank you to my lovely and gracious hostess, Kathryn R. Blake. I really appreciate your having me here today to share my opinions.

When Penises Run Amok
 by Patricia Green

If you read romance, especially erotic romance, you might notice how things are larger than life. The women have better hair, clearer skin, brighter eyes, bigger breasts, rounder behinds. The men have tighter abs, broader chests, smaller seats, and, of course, bigger private parts. I'm wondering where the normal people go to fall in love.

Consider the fantasy hero a bit more. He's got to be tall--at least taller than the heroine. Broad shoulders are a necessity, and either bulky or rangy muscles. None of that Pee Wee Herman wimpy stuff. But, probably the most fantastical, unusual, and unrealistic aspect of a romance hero is his penis. Have you ever noticed that they're all circumcised, by the way? Those penises are described as "huge," "too big to fit," "long and thick" and "too big to wrap a woman's hand around."

Reality much? The real life average penis length is about 6.5" give or take a quarter-inch. And the average circumference is a hair less than 5". Most women can wrap a hand around something with a 5" circumference, which is about the measure of the bottom of a shot glass. Heroes, however, don't fit except in one place, which manages to stretch to accommodate said dick with amazing regularity. Never mind any possible damage. The woman will be so wet that it couldn't possibly cause injury. She might feel some initial discomfort, but we'll glide on past that into the ecstasy such a handsome rod brings to bear.

Oh, you'll say, but a woman's vagina can stretch quite a bit for childbirth. True. Does that feel good? Does it cause damage? Would you choose to do that with your partner every night?

Let's touch upon that, too: every night. Okay, that's mostly believable. But three and four times every night? Unless the hero is 18 or 20 years old, that's going to be a tough pace to maintain. And heroes are virtually never 18 years old. Too young and unseasoned.

Have I written my heroes and heroines this way? Does a penguin waddle? Of course! I've even got a hero in Daughter of the Moon, books 1 and 2, who has a cock big enough to give him a reputation among his friends. Is this real? Well, I've moved in circles where that kind of rumor has gotten around. So, it's possible. I'll go with that possibility.

Writers write what people want to read and the stuff that makes the reader find that delicious thrill and a "what if" moment. We put our fantasies on the pages, tidied up to save us embarrassment, and wrapped up in a colorful bow like a box of chocolates on Valentine's Day.

Reality can go home to cook dinner. Never mind that we'd be overwhelmed if our fantasies came true. I don't imagine any of us would survive an Indiana Jones experience, either. Fantasy is what makes books so appealing, with heroes and heroines larger than life.

Blurb for Daughter of the Moon, Book 1: Surface

Sonata McLir is torn. The man she's been involved with wants her to be something she's not and doesn't want to be. He refuses to respect her beliefs as a practicing Daughter of the Moon, and erodes her self-respect.

When Mikhail Andropov discovers Sonata's confusion and his former friend's plans for the young woman, he takes matters into his own hands and gives her the encouragement and support, the loving touches she needs.

Their relationship is tumultuous, leading to a long erotic weekend which opens their eyes to the possibilities. Unfortunately, war can steal their happiness away…if they let it.

This is book one of a two-book series. The second book follows Sonata and Mikhail into confined spaces where only their hearts are allowed to run free.

M/F, erotic, speculative (sci-fi) romance, with BDSM elements.

My Book Boyfriend Blog Hop

ReadingBetweentheWinesBookClub

My Book Boyfriend Giveaway Hop Hosted is by Reading Between the Wines Book Club & As the Pages Turn Giveaway.  The hop will run from 12:01 AM February 1st through to 11:59 PM February 5th, 2012.

The object of the game is to pick a boyfriend from the books you've read, or written.  This one is hard.  If I had to pick a boyfriend from all the books I've read I'd be in trouble.  There are so many strong, virile, handsome, considerate and protective lovers existing today both in e-readers and on the pages of steamy, romantic novels.  Of course, I also fall in love with the men I create, but I'm fickle because the one I love the most is the one whose story I'm currently working on.  So, given that, I'd have to say my current book boyfriend is Jim in A Dom's Dilemma.  You can see a bit of Jim, though only from Kyle and Tiffany's point in Arrested by Love, so that is the book I will offer readers during this hop.  One copy of Arrested by Love in the format of your choice. If you want to read an excerpt first, you can read the first three chapters on my web site.  Just click here.

If you want to know more about Jim, have a sneak peak at the unedited snippet below from the opening of A Dom's Dilemma.  He's a strict Dom and a police detective, so he has strong opinions on right and wrong and the way things need to be done.  And that's the way he wants them done, of course.  If you like Jim and would like to see more of him in Kyle and Tiffany's story, enter the contest by leaving a comment below as to what you look for in your book boyfriends, and if you win you'll get to cuddle up under your covers with Kyle for an evening or two.  Then hop on over to see which of the other author's boyfriends you'd like to spend time in bed with.

"Saw your sub come visitin' at the station today, Kyle," Jim Evans mentioned casually, before taking a sip of ice water.  In addition to being another Dom at theVelvet Chains BDSM club, Kyle Sinclair was also a fellow police officer in the same precinct as Jim.  They weren't friends exactly.  More like associates who had an occasional beer together.  "She in trouble?"
Seated at the bar, Kyle gave a dejected nod without looking up from what Jim thought might be a scotch on the rocks.  "Yeah, you could say that."
It had been awhile since Jim had seen Kyle's little sub at the club.  He'd always considered her an attractive bundle of fun, and one he'd like to top, if Kyle was willing to let him.  "You intendin' to do a punishment scene with her tonight?"
Kyle sighed, sounding depressed.  "Looks that way."
Shoving his hands into the rear pockets of his black slacks, Jim slowly rocked back on his heels, preferring to stand at the bar, rather than sit.  "Mind if I watch?"
"Not at all," Kyle answered, looking almost--relieved.  "In fact…."
Jim stood up straighter.  "What?  You lookin' to make a party of it?"
Kyle shook his head.  "I'm looking to find her another Dom.  Daniel tried to work with her and so did Greg, but I don't think they were strict enough to meet her needs."
Jim's eyebrow raised.  "A bit of a hellion, eh?"
"She can be.  She can also be a very sweet submissive when she's mastered properly.  It's just that--I've met someone else…."
"Got it.  So, tell me a little about your sub, and when she gets here, I'll put her through her paces.  Check how she responds to me.  If I'm pleased, I'll most likely want to scene with her.  I should know within a half-hour or so whether or not I think we'll click."
"Thanks," Kyle said, the relief in his voice evident.  "I really appreciate this, Jim."
