Guest Post - 11/13/20 - "Timeless Honor" by Amber Daulton #TimeTravel #18thCentury #Mystery

When Jaye is offered the opportunity to return to her previous life in the 21st Century, she needs to decide whether to go home or remain in the 18th Century and take a chance on all the uncertainty it represents.

Excerpt:

“You asked me earlier if I just wanted your body and I should’ve denied it. I appreciate your bluestocking ideals and your ability to hold an intelligent conversation. Those qualities are what men of standard should look for in a mistress.”

A frown crossed her face and Lucas held up his hand before she interrupted him. “If a man is smart, he’ll seek out a confident woman who can hold her own in any given situation and marry her if he’s lucky. If marriage is not permissible, he’ll visit her afterhours and support her if he has the means.” His father took mistresses no matter how much it pained his mother and Lucas had vowed never to hurt his wife the same way—but he didn’t have a wife to betray. “I’ll be loyal to you for as long as we are together. I hope we’ll part ways amicably and rendezvous again in the future―at least until you marry a man worthy of your esteem―but you have no reason to deny me since your purity is not intact.”

“You crude, insufferable prick. I should take this candle and shove it up your ass.”

His brow arched to his hairline. “I’m the crude one?” He laughed coldly. “That’s one thing I admire about you, Jaye. You’re not afraid to use foul language around me, but you watch yourself around others. You feel comfortable around me, yet I’m always on edge in your presence. Do you know fire rages in my groin every time I look at you?” He stepped closer to her and Jaye backed up against the door. Fear flashed in her eyes, followed by another spurt of anger, and Lucas retreated to give her breathing room. “Women of substance are hard to come by. Do you understand why I fancy you?”

“Yeah, I do, and it’s not romantic in the least.” Jaye clasped her hand over her chest as though her heart thumped too hard. “I’m not in the market for a spouse or a real relationship—I doubt you’re the right man for me anyway—but I accept your proposition as long as you keep the affair quiet as promised. That’s what I planned to tell you tonight.” She tunneled her hand through her hair. “This is ridiculous. Making love or dating someone shouldn’t feel like a contract.”

Annoyance flared in his veins. She doesn’t want to marry me? He should’ve felt relieved but she’d bruised his ego.

Lucas stroked his fingers down her cheekbone and blew warm air in her ear. “I promise.” He reached behind her, opened the door and waited for her to decide.

Her throat convulsed in a small bob and she backed up to enter the room. Lucas followed her and closed the door behind him. The heat in her gaze nearly melted him into a puddle at her feet. She placed her candle on the nightstand, he left his on a white-wood vanity, and the orange flames penetrated the shadows in the room.

Lucas closed the space between them. She stared up at him with trust in her eyes but she trembled as he clasped her waist. The silk bunched under his palms, heat radiated around her as though a fire burned inside her, and he parted the lapels of her robe to push the silk off her shoulders. Air lodged in his throat. Light gleamed off her nude body and highlighted her supple curves and dips. He cupped the creamy underside of her left breast as Jaye nuzzled his chest with her nose.

“Lie down, little jaybird,” he murmured as need pounded through him. He barely held himself together, but then Jaye pulled from his embrace, climbed on the bed and propped herself up on a mound of pillows by the headboard. Her hair fanned out like silk strands, her full breasts jutted out as though to tease him and the dark hair at the apex of her legs curled in little twists.

He stripped away his clothes and crawled into bed with her. The scent of lilac clung to Jaye’s skin as though they lay in a bed of flowers. The goodness in her soul called to him, cocooned him in warmth, but his past year of celibacy rushed through him like a red-hot poker. Lucas readied her with his fingers, drew sweet gasps from her throat, and a mixture of innocence and carnal knowledge beamed up at him through her jade-green eyes. Just one look from her, sultry or otherwise, knocked the air from his lungs. He flattened his hands beside her head, eased himself between her legs and pushed his shaft inside her.

Jaye Ramsey decides to prove to her eccentric grandmother that time travel only exists in movies by vacationing in Bolivia with her friends. After she wakes up in Hawksatter, England, 1735—the same town her grandmother supposedly vanished from as a young woman—Jaye finds refuge at a hunting lodge, but the strapping, reclusive baron who takes her in reminds her all too well she was a lone woman at his mercy.

Accused of murdering his newly wedded wife a decade earlier, Lord Lucas Kenway closed the family farm and shut out the world. He never expected the little spitfire he claims responsibility for would turn his quiet life upside down. Pushed together by fate and his meddling servants, Lucas wants Jaye on his own terms and refuses to surrender his hardened heart.

Then a mysterious wise man offers Jaye a way home.

Should she return to the future and the only life she’s ever known, or stay in an uncertain past as a stranger in a new world?

Guest Post - 1/22/19 - His Land, His Law by Libby Campbell #TimeTravel #Paranormal

Libby Campbell is joining us today with an excerpt from her novel "His Land, His Law." But before we begin, we asked a question about writing that she gave a most insightful answer to:

What advice would you give a new writer?
Be brave and be ready to make mistakes. Learn to laugh at the many wrong steps you’ll take. I consider my first two years in this genre as an apprenticeship.
Try to improve with each piece you write. Read books on craft. Go to workshops or find online resources to help you hone your skills.
To be a writer you have to be thick-skinned, because there will always be someone who pans your work. At the same time, you have to be sensitive to pick up the nuances of human behaviour.
Finally, you’ll need a good internet connection and a few basic social media skills.

Excerpt:

The sight of Cara’s well-padded buttocks bent over his knee had woken Luke’s desire with breathtaking ferocity. He’d spanked her to discourage her from defying his rights as a property owner and neighbor, to teach her some civility. He hadn’t expected to enjoy spanking her so much. He hadn’t expected to want to lay her down and make love to her right on the spot.
When he was finished, he was already hoping for an excuse to spank her again, hopeful that it might lead to something cozier than just a bottom-warming. The flush burning up her neck when he helped her back to her feet suggested that she hadn’t hated the experience either. She couldn’t hide the fact that her nipples had stiffened to hard pebbles that pushed against the thin fabric of her t-shirt.
So when she demanded to be set free, he did so while warning her of the consequences of any further disruption to his plans. Her reputation for stubbornness and being a tree hugger said he could count on paddling that gorgeous backside again some time. If he could get her past her romantic opposition to his development plans, they might even have some fun together.
“Every time,” he repeated. “Understand?”
Cara said nothing. She nodded with a half-smile, treating him to an innocent, wide-eyed look that was as genuine as a three-dollar bill.
He released her anyway. He couldn’t call her a liar without proof.
She was much prettier than he’d expected and no less spirited. The way her eyes dilated as she looked at him made his cock stiffen.
Grandpa’s lawyers had warned him that she wanted the land, but he’d done his homework. The value of raw acres was a fraction of what it would be if he cleared it and subdivided it into a tidy collection of small lots. She was going to have to get used to the idea, that was all there was to it.
He turned on his charm. “I’ve heard a lot about you, Cara. Everyone agrees you’re smart as a whip and unafraid of things that make keep most people awake at night.”
“What is there to be frightened of on Salt Spring Island?” Cara snorted before pulling herself a bit taller. She treated him to another empty smile.
He noted the effort it took her to stifle the flare of temper. Unskilled in the artificial body language of the corporate world where people were practiced at concealing their true feelings, she was easy to read. Advantage: Luke.

Blurb:

Since she inherited her parents’ home, Cara Eckford has used walks in the nearby woods as inspiration for her art, so she is shocked and upset upon finding that ‘No Trespassing’ signs have recently been put up on the property. But when she angrily confronts the land’s new owner, the infuriatingly sexy Luke McCrae, she merely earns herself a stern scolding and a sound spanking.

Despite her irritation, Luke’s bold dominance leaves Cara’s heart racing and her panties soaked. He soon proves more than ready to tame her fiery temper with his belt applied to her bare bottom, but even with tears in her eyes and her backside on fire Cara’s need for Luke cannot be denied, and when he takes her in his arms his masterful lovemaking satisfies her deeply.

Cara’s newfound romance with Luke grows stronger and more passionate with each passing day, but when conflict over his plans for her beloved forest threatens to tear them apart, can she make use of her powerful connection to both of their ancestors to convince him to change his mind?

Guest Post - 1/9/18 - Held in Custody by Ashe Barker #TimeTravel #SpankingRomance

Introduction

Excerpt:

Finn reached around her to pull her closer to his body. The solid shaft of his cock nudged her bottom as she leaned back against him. Eira writhed as he spread the spicy-scented soap across her shoulders and down her arms, then returned to her neck and did it all over again. As she relaxed into the caress he lowered his hands to cup her breasts.
"Tell me no, if you don't want this."
Eira had to concentrate hard, and she was still uncertain that she properly understood his meaning. Was he seeking permission? Had she not made her wishes clear by coming into this room when she had no need to? By joining him in this wondrous indoor waterfall of his?
He stopped, his hands still on her breasts but motionless now. She could come up with no words to express her desire, but she could show him. Eira laid her hands on top of his, pressing his palms more firmly against her smooth curves. She turned her head toward him, her eyes closed and she let out a soft sigh.
"Eira? Ja?"
She understood that. "Ja," she murmured.
It was enough, it seemed. Finn kissed her exposed neck. His gentle fingers traced the delicate lower curves of her breasts before circling her nipples. The sensitive buds swelled and lengthened under his touch. Finn took each peak between his thumb and index finger and squeezed.
Eira moaned her delight, then she arched her back, thrusting her breasts further into his hands. Finn seemed to know what she wanted. He tightened his hold, increasing the pressure little by little until she tensed with the pleasure/pain of his touch and cried out but still she did not attempt to stop him.
He murmured soft words into her ear as he tugged on her nipples. Eira remembered the joy of a man's touch. Audun had not been without such skills and she had known pleasure in his bed. Could she reach her release from what Finn was doing to her now? She thought she might, but it was not to be. Finn had another surprise ready for her.
He reached for the source of the cascading water and removed it from the wall above them. In his capable, powerful hands the jet narrowed down to one powerful stream of water, which he directed straight onto her right nipple.
The pleasure was unexpected, but exquisite. Eira gasped, then squealed when he subjected her other pebbled nub to the same treatment. Next, he pushed his foot between both of hers and eased her ankles apart. She knew what he would do next, and held her breath as he slid his free hand around the front and between her legs. Finn used his fingers to part her delicate folds and pull back the hood which partly concealed her clit, and his encircling arm to hold her still when he turned the jet on that most sensitive spot.

Blurb:

When he encounters an injured young woman while on a motorcycle ride on the small Scottish island of North Uist, police officer Finn Olsen immediately comes to her aid, but to his surprise her dialect proves all but incomprehensible to him. To make matters worse, she first tries to run and then does her best to stab him with a dagger after he catches her.

Recognizing that the woman is confused and distraught, Finn disarms her, handcuffs her, and brings her back to the local police station, which doubles as his home. Once she is in his custody, however, it quickly becomes clear that his beautiful, feisty prisoner comes from a very different era, and that she has somehow travelled forward in time more than a thousand years.

Finn takes it upon himself to keep the headstrong girl safe in a completely unfamiliar world, even going so far as to bare her bottom for a sound spanking with his belt when she attempts an escape. Despite her situation, she is deeply aroused by his bold dominance, and when he claims her properly she is left utterly spent and satisfied. But as they unravel the mystery of her arrival in the twenty-first century, will their discoveries bring an end to their newfound romance?

About the Author:

USA Today best-selling author Ashe Barker has been an avid reader of fiction for many years, erotic and other genres. She still loves reading, the hotter the better. But now she has a good excuse for her guilty pleasure – research.
Ashe tends to draw on her own experience to lend colour, detail and realism to her plots and characters. An incident here, a chance remark there, a bizarre event or quirky character, any of these can spark a story idea.
Ashe lives in the North of England, on the edge of the Brontë moors and enjoys the occasional flirtation with pole dancing and drinking Earl Grey tea. When not writing – which is not very often these days - her time is divided between her role as taxi driver for her teenage daughter, and caring for a menagerie of dogs, tortoises.  And a very grumpy cockatiel.
At the last count Ashe had over forty titles on general release with publishers on both sides of the Atlantic, and several more in the pipeline. She writes M/f, M/M, and occasionally rings the changes with a little M/M/f. Ashe’s books invariably feature BDSM. She writes explicit stories, always hot, but offering far more than just sizzling sex. Ashe likes to read about complex characters, and to lose herself in compelling plots, so that’s what she writes too.
Ashe has a pile of story ideas still to work through, and keeps thinking of new ones at the most unlikely moments, so you can expect to see a lot more from her.

Guest Post - 12/19/17 - A Time for Will by Libby Campbell- Lissie will do anything to protect her younger sister #EroticRomance #TimeTravel

Lissie Pettigrew isn't convinced the stranger who suddenly appeared on their land doesn't mean them harm, but she'll do everything she can to distract him from her younger sister.

Excerpt:

The man was tall, over six feet, with broad shoulders and a slim waist. Clean-shaven with intense silver-grey eyes, he didn’t look happy to see them. This had to be another one of Verity’s practical jokes. His denim jeans, leather vest with deep pockets, and old-fashioned Stetson were straight from a costume store. His thin cotton shirt hugged him like a second skin, Liemphasizing his buff body. The only worrying detail was the gun and holster set.
Lissie pointed her chin at the revolver in his hand. “That’s not a very nice way to greet your hosts,” she said, trying to ignore the blood pounding in her ears. Verity had pulled some major pranks in her time but this was the first time she’d hired an actor to point a gun at her sisters. At least Verity had hired a hottie for this job.
“Who are you? Why are the two of you wearing men’s clothes?” The man frowned as he spoke, his slow drawl sounding out of place in the 21st century, even in this small country town.
“Who are you and what are you doing lighting fires on our land?” Lissie smiled sweetly, waiting for Verity to spring out of the bushes, yelling gotcha.
“I’m the one with the gun. Maybe you’d better start talking. My name is William Dawson. Mr. Dawson to you.”
“We’re innocent cowgirls, looking for our sister, Mr. Dawson, sir.” Even as she heaped on the sarcasm, it started to occur to Lissie this might not be a joke. His tone had been disapproving. Impatience still clouded his eyes. That made her bolder, if only to draw his attention away from Hope. “I’m Felicity and this is my sister, Hope. That’s Felicity and Hope to you.” Now might be a time not to give him too much information, she decided.
“I’ve been here a couple of hours now and you’re the first people I’ve seen.” He kept eyeing the truck nervously.
Lissie watched him. “What’s wrong with you? Never seen an F350 before?”
“No.” He looked at the girls one more time before slipping his gun back into its holster. “I don’t even know what an F350 is.”
“C’mon,” Lissie chided. “Have you been living under a rock? An F350 is a truck. They’re everywhere. This is mine.” She pointed to the blue one she’d just hopped out of. “And this one here belongs,” she pointed to Verity’s silver pick up, “to my sister. Verity came out here earlier today. She was going to organize the kitchen and bedrooms. Tomorrow the electricians are going to turn on the electricity to the house.”
“Electricity,” Will sounded out the word, as if it was Latin or Greek. “I’ve heard of that.”
Hope burst out laughing. “Okay, Verity,” she said to the bushes, “good joke. You can come out now.”
“I told you,” he said fiercely, “I’m the only one here.”
Lissie grinned. “I believe you, cowboy.” To keep his eyes off Hope, she moved closer, swinging her hips. In case he was some sort of psycho, she needed to do everything she could to save her little sister. She moved with far more confidence than she felt. As she approached him, she caught his grass, leather, and onions scent. It was a primal smell that spoke of hard work and honest labor. It was far more appealing than she wanted it to be.
If he was part of a practical joke, she’d make Verity pay. If he was something more dangerous than that, she wanted all his attention focused on her.  “What do you do when you’re not pranking innocent girls? Are you a movie extra or something?”
He narrowed his eyes at her as she sidled her body next to his.
She brushed some dust from his shoulder. “I’ve been asking Santa for someone like you my entire life. I guess the wait was worth it.” She ran her hand over the front of his leather vest. “This is nice and soft, just like your lips, I bet.” She made a kissy face at him.
He caught her wrist. “What sort of a girl are you, talking to a man like that?” His grey eyes glinted with outrage.
“I’m a modern sort of a girl,” she said. “I take what I like.” She reached with her other hand and stroked the dark hair that curled around his ears and under his hat. “Nice.”
Before she could register what he was doing, he grabbed her hands and pinned them behind her back. His long, muscular fingers held her two wrists together effortlessly.

Blurb:

Identical twins, Verity and Felicity (Lissie) Pettigrew inherit an abandoned farm in the remote hills of the Methow Valley. Little do the twins know, but their windfall harbors a secret. While exploring the old barn, Verity stumbles into a hidden portal and is instantly transported more than one hundred years into the past.

In 1885, on the same farm, Will Dawson is saddling his horse when a disturbance in a corner of the barn catches his attention. In his haste to rescue the gorgeous woman in the center of the disturbance, Will is flung far into the future.

Meanwhile, Lissie arrives on the farm looking for Verity, but finds the handsome, slightly suspicious cowboy instead. From their first words to one another, sparks fly.

Lissie’s modern manners and profane language offend Will. His solution? Some old-fashioned discipline delivered on the spot.

Affronted by Will’s distinctly un-twenty-first century approach to male/female relationships, Lissie challenges his authority at every turn in spite of nearly always ending up over his knee.

Meanwhile, Verity must deal with life in 1885. Although accepted into Will’s family, she longs to get back to the 21st century and the man she loves.

Can Will live in a future in which progress comes at the price of everything he holds dear? Can Lissie win him over, and teach him that women can be independent and willful but still soft and sexy? Will Verity find her way back to the man she loves?

Publishers note: This stand alone love story includes scenes of domestic discipline and spicy romance.
