Guest Post - 3/8/16 - My Sassy Settler by Maggie Ryan #Western #Historical

Today I've got Maggie Ryan and her second Williamette Wives book, "My Sassy Settler."

Excerpt:

"I'm not—"
"Be very careful, Annabelle. I suggest you remember what happens when you lie to me."
She felt her face begin to heat as she recalled exactly how this man punished her when she was caught telling a little fib, much less an outright lie. Rather than think about how she'd most likely be tumbled over his knees if she continued acting like a fool, she attempted to refocus his attention elsewhere.
"Oh, I think I hear Johnny. Poor thing, he must be scared to wake up all alone." Without waiting for her husband's permission, Anna pulled away for the second time.
"Stop." It was only one word, and yet it had the power to glue her feet to the barn floor.
"But the baby…"
"Is fine," Richard said, moving to her and turning her back to face him again. "Enough of this nonsense. You are obviously hiding something. I assure you that our son is far more comfortable than his mother is going to be unless you tell me what's going on."
Anna attempted to cover the gasp she heard from behind the hay by coughing. It came out as more of a strangled gasp but her husband's eyes flicked to the hay stack and then back to her.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
"I'm just cold and need to tend to your son." She relaxed as he reached to draw her cloak more tightly around her and then ran his hands up and down her arms.
"Have you seen Agatha this morning?"
"What?" Damn it, she had forgotten about Wyatt. "I told you, I haven't seen her!"
"Actually what you've done is waltz around the question," Richard corrected. "You haven't actually answered."
"I don't know how many times I have to say it, I have not seen her." She almost groaned when his eyes once more flicked to the hay and then to Wyatt.
Richard shook his head. "Feel free to search the barn, Wyatt. If you find her, it appears that hay bale provides a perfect spot to kneel; skirts up and drawers down. I assure you that the strap on that hook by the door is an excellent choice."

Blurb:

What should be a wonderful new adventure for newlyweds Wyatt and Agatha Wilcox is not turning out quite the way they'd hoped. Wyatt's dreams of building a new life with the girl he'd met and wed while traveling on the Oregon Trail are turning into a nightmare. He loves his wife dearly but has no idea how to reach her.

Agatha knows she isn't the wife that Wyatt dreamed of. Despite her deep love for this man, she just finds it impossible to cast aside all the words and damnation she'd been hearing from her stepfather for the past year. Her hope that she'd find a fresh start as Mrs. Wilcox, and her excitement at the idea of settling into their first home on a ranch they're going to help build, are overshadowed by the fact that her Ma is no longer with her, and the knowledge that she is not the pure and innocent woman Wyatt deserves. She knows she is a sinner; a woman too weak and too selfish to let the man she loves go free.

Dangers in this newly settled land aren't limited to the bears and wild cats that roam the forests and mountains of the Willamette Valley. The deep cold of winter is coming, and the ranch's inhabitants need to prepare. It is with the help of friends, their partners in building The Double R Ranch—affectionately known as The Rose Ranch to its founders—that things come to a head between Agatha and Wyatt, and their first steps toward a new life are taken. Will the couple find their way past the hatred spewed by a self- proclaimed preacher to find that, together, they have the strength and the love to build the lives they each had envisioned?

With patience and love, will Agatha learn to trust that this man would never let her down? What will Wyatt think when he discovers that, beneath her fear, he not only wed a wonderful woman, but he has wed his own Sassy Settler?

My Sassy Settler is the second book in the Willamette Wives series, and also continues the story of Anna and Richard, Charity and James, and other characters first introduced in Maggie Ryan's bestselling book: His Passionate Pioneer.

Disclaimer: This book contains the spanking of adult women and explicit sexual scenes including anal play. If such material offends you, please do not purchase.

About the Author:

Author for Blushing Books.  I write both contemporary erotica and historical spanking romances.  I enjoy writing about characters that enjoy the provocative D/S lifestyle of today’s times as well as taking a step back into the past to write stories that take place in the Victorian era with age-play as a theme.
I live in the great Lone Star state with my wonderful husband.  I have always loved reading.  Growing up in a family with four children, it was difficult finding a place to be alone.  I was probably one of the squeakiest clean girls on the planet as I would spend hours in the tub so I could read without being bothered.  It wasn’t long before I began to make up my own endings to the books I was reading.  From there, it just seemed natural to begin writing my own stories.
I never try to restrict myself to any one genre because there are just too many delicious possibilities out there and inside my head.  I admit to being somewhat of a romantic though as my stories always must have a great deal of love, passion, corporal discipline and, of course, great, mind-blowing sex.  I want my readers to be able to see, hear, feel and know the characters that I’m creating as well as I do when I bring them to life and transfer their stories to paper.  I want my women to be strong of character but also strong enough to know that submission given in love and trust to your partner does not make you weaker, it makes you far stronger. I want my men to be sexy, strong, demanding alpha males who know how to take what they want while acknowledging it is a gift they have been blessed with by the women that have chosen to submit to them.  I want there to be no doubt that they truly would die for the other no matter how others might view their relationship.

Guest Post - 9/15/15 - "Effie - The Marriage Market Book 3 by Stevie MacFarlane

Today, Stevie MacFarlane has dropped by to share information about her newest release "Effie: The Marriage Market" Book three, the latest in her Marriage Market book series.

Excerpt:

Throwing back the covers, Effie jumped off the bed and poked her finger in his chest.
The white shirt she wore dangled over her hands and down past her knees. Shoving up the sleeves she held her ground when he stood to face her.
"Amelia did not ask us to rescue her," she hissed, tipping her head back to make eye contact. "She simply informed us of her dire situation. It was Grace and I who decided to come to Seattle and bring her home to Massachusetts. Horace Remington added fuel to the fire when he physically abused Grace while trying to force her into marriage, but we would have come anyway."
"How did you meet Jonah?" Sam asked.
"He was the Pinkerton agent hired to find Grace," Effie continued, shoving her wildly curling blonde hair over her shoulder. "Horace added five thousand dollars to the normal fee for Grace's return as an incentive, but as you can see, we made it here just fine."
"Hardly that, Miss Lane," he replied crisply. "You all but invaded my parents' home, threatened me with a pistol, managed to destroy a valuable family heirloom and got your fanny blistered for it. Then you insisted on returning to your hotel where you promptly shot a man."
"He was trying to kill me," Grace retorted. "It was self-defense."
"I happen to believe you, Miss Lane. Let's hope the Marshal agrees. In any case, you made the trip and put both you and Grace at great risk and all for nothing."
"It wasn't for nothing. We will see for ourselves if Amelia is happy and well-cared for. Grace has fallen in love and married Jonah Blackthorn and I've had a grand adventure."
"One that almost got you killed," he snorted angrily.
"Despite your beliefs, Mr. Jordon, women in the east are not hot house flowers. We are independent, self-sufficient and quite capable of taking care of our own affairs. I have no doubt Amelia would have managed even if your brother had turned out to be the scoundrel she believed him to be."
"Then why did you come?" he asked incredulously.
"Because I wanted to, and because she is like a sister to me, as is Grace," she informed him coolly.
"Well, now that you're assured of both Amelia's and Grace's wellbeing, I hope you will feel free to make a hasty departure, Miss Lane," he growled. "That is, of course, providing you don't find your sweet ass sitting in jail."
"I shall do as I please, Mr. Jordon. I doubt even a backward Marshal will arrest me for defending myself. I'm sure that will be a disappointment to you," she sighed, sadly shaking her head.

Blurb:

Euphemia Lane had a feeling from the get go that Samuel Jordon was going to give her trouble. In his rude letter, he threatened to spank and disarm her should she show up in Seattle with her pistols. However, his warning doesn’t deter Effie from her mission. Come hell or high water, she and Grace are determined to travel to Seattle to rescue their friend, Amelia. How was she to know that Amelia’s letter was a huge mistake or that Horace Remington would follow them and nearly kill her? And there was no way she could have anticipated what would happen once she and Grace arrive at the Jordon home.

Never would she have imagined that she would receive her very first spanking at the hands of her nemesis. It was galling to say the least, and to top it all off, he relieved her of her pistols after she destroyed a treasured family heirloom and shot Horace. Now she is in Sam’s protective custody until the Marshal determines she had acted in self-defense. The problem seems to be: who is going to protect her from Sam?

Samuel Jordon is so angry when Marshal Cole Hadley sticks him with Miss Lane that he sees stars. In his opinion, she is a sassy-mouthed witch hiding in a sweet little body. His determination to be firm yet detached lasts all of two days. Who knew one little drop of frosting on one luscious lip would change his life forever? What kind of young woman can turn a well-balanced, confirmed bachelor into a perverted fiend who can't keep his hands off her?
