When drag queen club manager's world collides with a rock star's chaotic world, is there a chance the relationship can survive?
She sat up tall in her chair and leaned forward, scanning
his bloodshot eyes. "Tell me there's nothing between you and Savannah.
Tell me you didn't want to go home with her."
He didn't respond.
Tears welled. "Damn you, Darien. I trusted you."
"Nothing happened between us. But telling you I didn't want to go with her would be a lie, and I refuse to lie to you."
She blinked. "What?"
"I was drunk. She's hot. I was missing you and… things
just got out of control. I'm not always controlled by my brain. Sometimes other
parts make the call." He shrugged. "Especially when I'm drunk."
"You're gonna use your drinking as an excuse?"
"Not an excuse. An explanation."
"That doesn't make any sense."
Darien ran his fingers through his hair. "I really,
really miss you. It hurts more than… it hurts right down to my soul. I guess I
started drinking to fill the hole in my heart."
"I miss you, too." Her voice was small.
"Savannah was just there. I didn't call her. She appeared
at the club. Someone probably posted an Instagram about me being there. It
wasn't her I wanted to be with. It was you. She was just a – a
substitute."
Erika stared at her keyboard and tapped a fingernail on her
desk.
"Say something. Anything. Please. Hell, tell me to fuck
off."
She looked at the screen. The remorse he was feeling was
evident in his eyes, his words, and his tone. He hadn't meant to let things get
out of control. It started off as a fun night out with his friends. Cut loose.
Let some steam off. She chuckled.
He raised an eyebrow. "Okay, you laughing kinda
seriously creeps me out. What's so funny?"
"The last time you cut loose, there was a hit on the
Black Dragon."
He snorted. "Crap, you're right. I guess I should start
spending my Saturday nights at the local library."
Erika crossed her arms. "I think that would be a smart
decision."
"So are we good? Or as good as we can be?"
"Yes, all is forgiven. This time. I guess I do have to
understand that there are two of you and I have to share you with the world.
This is new ground for both of us."
You loved What Happened in Bangkok and want to know what happens next….
It's complicated is not only her relationship status, but the definition of Erika Bailey's life. She loves managing her drag queen club in Bangkok, Thailand, but her rock star boyfriend resides in North Carolina. And to top it off, her father threatens she must stay away from Darien or lose the Pink Flamingo. Does she protect her club or her love?
Darien Scott, Grammy award winning international superstar, wants nothing more than to wake up in the arms of Erika, the woman he loves, but contractual obligations force him to exotic video shoots and an isolated movie set with one of Hollywood's sexiest stars.
With the feeding frenzy of social media trending every aspect of Darien's life—real or not—it's hard for Erika to know the truth. Will she be able to see through the lies and trust Darien? Or will evidence from damaging Internet rumours condemn their relationship?
