#MFRWHooks - 10/18/17 - A Simple Misunderstanding - Jerry explains Domestic Discipline #CorbinsBend #Romance

It's Book Hooks Wednesday!  Yay!  And I'm sharing another excerpt from my new spanking romance in the Corbin's Bend series, A Simple Misunderstanding.  It's sequel, Past Interference is included both in the Love in the Rockies anthology and as a single title release.

He came to her rescue when she needed him most, almost to lose her when she disobeyed him.

In this scene, which occurs in Chapter Six,  Elly Benson is still in the hospital after her husband attacked her.  Jerry Douglas, who has secretly fallen in love in with Elly, remains at her side in the hospital while doctors assess her condition.

Not long after she was settled in her new room, Dr. Pendergast, the surgeon who’d operated on her spleen, came in to go over the results of her CT scan. Jerry didn’t want to leave, but Elly had a right to discuss her care with her doctor without a stranger listening in, even when he was the stranger in question. However, when he rose to depart, she said, “Don’t go.”
Jerry frowned, but resumed his seat.
Pendergast informed Elly her scans looked good. No sign of bleeding in either her abdomen or her head. Then he paused. “Now I need to ask you about the bruising we noticed on your wrists and buttocks.” He turned to Jerry, who gave a nod to indicate he understood which bruises the doctor meant.
“Legally, I must ask. Did your husband cause your injuries?”
Elly swallowed and glanced at Jerry. “Would you explain Corbin’s Bend to him?”
Jerry wanted to object, since he suspected the activities of Corbin’s Bend had little to do with the punishment Arthur had inflicted on his wife, but Elly gave him such a plaintive look, he relented.
Careful to use non-judgmental words, he explained how Corbin’s Bend was a community that catered to individuals who had an interest in domestic discipline. When Pendergast blinked, Jerry added, “Couples who practice DD often employ corporal punishment, which can include spanking, caning and whipping, but it is not considered abuse.”
“What is it, if not abuse?” the doctor asked, clearly unfamiliar with the concept.
“A way to preserve marital harmony through spousal discipline. I can send you some literature if you like, but most partners in DD do not resort to the levels of severity Mrs. Benson experienced.”

Jerry understands why Elly doesn't want to remain alone while her surgeon questions her, but he privately hopes the doctor will finally get Elly to admit her husband mistreats her.

Blurb:

Though Arthur and Eleanor Benson have been practicing domestic discipline for three months since their wedding, he insists moving to Corbin's Bend, where domestic discipline is the norm rather than the exception, will revitalize their marriage. Elly has doubts, but since Arthur is the undisputed head of their household, they move. However, once Arthur becomes immersed in a community where spanking is not only permitted, but encouraged, his personality undergoes a dramatic change. Accusing his submissive wife of being lazy, disorganized and disobedient, he employs creative methods of pain and humiliation to mold Elly from the imperfect woman he married into the perfect woman he desires. And Elly finds herself a virtual prisoner in her own home, accountable only to the man who rules her life with a cane.

In his years as a vet, Jerry Douglas has seen what abuse does to animals, and he recognizes those same signs in Elly Benson during her daily escape to the dog park with her tiny poodle. Jerry steadfastly supports the tenets of domestic discipline and enjoys the freedom Corbin's Bend offers its residents, but he remains fiercely protective of anyone in need of a champion. And when he witnesses evidence of harsh handling, his instinct is to rush in and rescue. Problem is Elly Benson is a married and consenting adult who insists all her bruises and welts are nothing more than a simple misunderstanding between her and her husband, until the day Arthur Benson takes his authority and discipline one-step too far, endangering Elly's life.

#WIPitUP - 10/18/17 - Acting Lessons - Peter works on the spanking scene with Kate #KissMeKate #SpankingRomance

WIP: Work in progress.  WIP it up Wednesday is a hop where writers share portions of the project they're working on with readers.  I really like the idea because it allows me to share something that's still in the creative stage as well as work behind the scenes as a prompt to keep me writing.

However, today, I want to share a snippet from my 5th spanking book, Acting Lessons, loosely based on the story of Kiss Me Kate. It's been. a while since I shared from this book (6/15/16). So, if you want to know what happened right before this scene, you can read it HERE.

He was a strict and demanding college professor turned professional director who excelled at giving acting lessons.  She was his shy and uncertain former student who became a professional actress under his tutelage.  They fell in love, married, and won two Tony Awards before tragedy struck and a simple kiss ripped them apart.

After a six month separation, Peter Thorton decides to take matters into his own hands by making his famous wife, Kate, an offer she wouldn't refuse.  Plainly put, he wants her back and he intends to do whatever is necessary to achieve his goal, even if it means giving his stubborn, willful leading lady a daily reminder over his knee that she promised to obey him.

In this scene, which occurs two-thirds into the book, Peter Thorton is directing his wife and some college students in a production of Kiss Me Kate and they've reached the famous spanking scene near the end of the musical. Though Peter spanks Kate in real life, she's done everything she can to get him to cut this scene, because spankings are intense, intimate and extremely personal for her and she doesn't want one on-stage. Peter, however, assures her the stage spanking will be nothing like the real ones he gives her, and the scene is essential to the story, so it can't be cut. Kate reluctantly agrees to try despite her severe misgivings, so Peter orders the actors to take their places.

If you're unfamiliar with the musical, Kiss Me Kate is a play within a play about a recently divorced couple attempting to put on a production of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew. In this scene, Tom is filling in for Peter as Lilli's husband actor/director Fred Graham who is also acting the role of Petruchio. Kate plays the actress Lilli Vanessi who is acting the role of Katharine. So, Peter, who is currently directing the scene, refers to the actors by their Shakespearean characters' names as well as their Kiss Me Kate characters' names in addition to their "real" names. Baptista is the name Shakespeare gave Katharine's father. Confused? Hopefully the scene below in Peter's POV will help make it clear.

"Okay, let's start from the top. Baptista, your line."
On this reading Tom gave a trace more swagger to his words, so Peter commended him. However, the student's expression of uncertainty when Kate crossed over to throw the "bouquet" at his head was almost comical. Peter waved his arms to stop the scene and turned to his assistant. "Karen, make a note, we need something more substantial for a bouquet than a rolled up newspaper. Speak to props, will you?" When Karen nodded and scribbled a message for herself, Peter rolled the paper into a cone, so the object looked more like a bouquet, then artfully folded it back to hold his makeshift flower arrangement in place before he tossed the paper funnel back to Kate.
"Go ahead; throw your flowers at me, Lilli." She did and he caught it in one hand, pleased the "prop" held together. "That's what I want you to do, Tom." Peter examined his creation with a frown. "This bouquet is going to wilt quickly, I'm afraid, but we'll toss the thing about until it does." He lobbed the paper back to Kate.
"Okay, you two, play catch." Kate threw the paper again and Tom fumbled. "You don't participate in a lot of sports, do you, Tom?"
            "No, sir."
            "Didn't think so. Try again."

Kate may be a professional, but there are some things that are just too personal to share with an audience. However, she also feels sorry for Tom. He's just a student, and Peter can be a tough director.
M/F, DD and a staged production of Kiss Me, Kate.

If you're 18 or older, you can read the first three chapters at Acting Lessons

Guest Blogger - 10-17-17 - A Strict Gentleman by Jaye Peaches #Victorian #EroticRomance #TimeTravel

“You are bound by the rules of this century, not yours. I shall hold you accountable in whatever way I wish.”

Excerpt:

Reaching round, he hitched up her skirts, fighting the petticoats until he had hold of her drawers. With a yank, he brought them down past her arse. Spreading his fingers, he clutched at a cheek, and squeezed the warm lobe until it felt like it might melt in his palm.
She gasped, teetering on her tiptoes as he kneaded her naked buttock. The swell of desire extended to the end of his cock, filling it with hot blood and pushing it up. She rocked her hipbone against it, and it was his turn to gasp.
“Why, you vixen,” he charged her.
She giggled.
He still held the duster. “You shall be punished. I’m going to whip you with this,” he murmured, nibbling on her earlobe.
“No!” she squawked. “I’ve not done a thing wrong. It will hurt,” she added indignantly.
“Ha, I decide, do I not? And it won’t hurt, not in the way you think it will.” He pointed at the table. “Bend over and keep your skirts up.”
“Sir, this is most inappropriate. Someone might come—”
“Who? I keep this house quiet of servants for a reason. Now, bend!”
She fumbled with her petticoats and pouted. She frowned so sweetly, it hardened his cock to see her little displays of defiance knowing shortly she would be begging for relief and pleasure.
She folded over the end of the dining table with aplomb, dropping her drawers at the same time. As for the skirts, she hugged them under her hips, protecting her from the rigid edge of the oak.
He lifted the duster—a rod to which the feathers of a goose had been attached—and swept it across her bare arse. She squealed and her face screwed up tight.
“It hurts, it hurts,” she wailed.
However, rather than lift it off, he spread the feathers across her rump and dragged them down the back of her thighs, then reversing direction, up between her legs.
“Ooo!” She knocked her knees together and trapped the duster as it glided up her slit and furrow. The feathers became wet with her nectar.
“Again?” he asked, already knowing the answer.
“Yes, please,” she quipped.

Guest Post - 10/3/17 - Taken by the Barbarian by April Vine #Fantasy #Erotic #Romance

Today we've got April Vine and her erotic romance "Taken by the Barbarian" over for a visit. Saraska seems to have gotten herself into a spot of trouble for refusing to do her chores. Let's see what happens.

Excerpt:

If he thought she would obediently stay for her punishment, he didn’t know her at all and this time nothing he said would stop her from leaving. His commands to stay, to come back at once and she’d be sorry if she didn’t, trailed behind her. All she needed was her bed.
“Saraska.” The magnificent power and overwhelming dictatorial strength in his tone as he bellowed her name finally stopped her dead in the path.
He had never uttered her name before and saying it that way instilled a unique quality in her to obey him. She feared him because he was an unknown and yet in that same instance, some other force compelled her to submit to him, if only to see what her name falling from his lips did to his face if he said it gently and with kindness.
Slowly she turned around and found herself staring at his wide hard chest. How had he closed the distance between them so silently?
“You have not been eating.” He didn’t ask the question; he stated it as a fact.
She said nothing, crossing her arms over her chest again as a meager attempt to protect herself from him. He raised her chin with his finger and her spine threatened to fold with a thousand tingles.
“Look at me when I talk to you,” he said. Why couldn’t she stop her eyelids from flickering open and staring into his dark green gaze, like an abyss of the forbidden?
“You can’t make me eat, Alien,” she said, defiance making her braver.
“I can make you do anything I want you to do, slave.”
She swallowed but maintained her brave face. So far he done exactly as he chose when it came to her, never asking her feeling or opinion. He dictated and expected his demands to be executed. Well, she was not one of his subjects. She would never be, no matter how much he tried to break her. She was an Actual born princess. And he was a barbaric Alien Warlord.
“Then I object,” she said. “Since you’ve so generously given me to Jacob, he should be the one to discipline me and not you. I am his slave after all.”
“You would rather let someone else touch you?” The ripple in his hard square and inexorable jaw frightened her as did the low threatening husk in his voice, but only for a moment.
“I would have anyone who is not you, touch me.” She jerked away from him but didn’t flee to safety even though her mind begged her to do so.
“Will you clean the sus-sty, water the crops, bake the bread, wash the clothes, and feed the galluses?”
“No,” she said and raised her head.
He gripped the back of the chair Gertrude sat in sometimes as she feed those feathered things that looked like birds of a very strange variety but couldn’t fly. They called them galluses. She knew all this because Gertrude would tell her things about her bizarre planet every night. She fell asleep for those short bouts of sleep to the sound of the kind lady’s voice.
He dropped his body into the seat, his long legs spread wide.
“On Sentara, disobedience will earn you a spanking. As a resident you are required to follow the rules. Now lift your nightdress and lie over my lap,” he instructed.

Blurb:

Having spent her life confined behind the walls of an opulent palace where she could be kept safe and pure, twenty-year-old Princess Saraska is innocent, naïve, and utterly unprepared for what is in store when she is taken captive by Roark, the barbarian ruler of the planet Sentara.

To her surprise, Saraska quickly discovers that while Roark will not hesitate to bare her bottom and spank her thoroughly any time he feels it necessary, the tall, handsome king is far from the ruthless savage she expected. His stern discipline and his bold, intimate exploration of her virgin body leave her quivering with need, and when at last he claims her completely his skilled, dominant lovemaking brings her pleasure more intense than she could have ever imagined.

Though Saraska grew up believing her people were peaceful, she soon begins to realize that she has been lied to her entire life. But when her own father conspires to turn her against Roark, will Saraska see through his schemes and trust in the man she has grown to love?

#MFRWHooks - 9/27/17 - Past Interference - Elly opens up about her abusive ex-husband #CorbinsBend #DD

It's Book Hooks Wednesday!  Yay!  And I'm sharing an excerpt from my spanking novella in the Corbin's Bend series, Past Interferencethe sequel to A Simple Misunderstanding. Past Interference was originally part of the Corbin's Bend Valentine's Day collection "Love in the Rockies," but is now being sold separately.

What she needed was the opposite of what she wanted.

In this scene, which occurs near the beginning of Chapter Two, Eleanor Benson (Elly) is six days away from getting married again, and her doubts are eating her alive.  After suffering through a bout of stress-related migraines, she's finally gotten up enough courage to tell her husband-to-be that she's not sure she wants to get married again.  Jerry knows Elly is nervous, but believed he'd managed to convince her he is nothing at all like her first husband, Arthur, who abused her.  Unfortunately, he's beginning to realize Elly's fear of her past may ruin their future together, so he suggests they sit down and discuss why she's having second thoughts, and why he wants to marry her. Elly insists she's not afraid of Jerry, but when he realizes she hadn't been afraid of her first husband when they got married, either, he seeks to understand what happened between them.

“You know how I felt about Arthur,” she answered with a sigh. “He was handsome, commanding, intelligent and domineering. I was young, silly and in love with the thought of a man like him taking command and protecting me. I just didn’t understand what that meant until after…”
“After he deflowered you and began to assert his authority?”
Closing her eyes against the unpleasant memory, she gave a nod. “Yes. Though, he was respectful toward me in the beginning. A little patronizing, perhaps, but he didn’t try to diminish me. He would correct me if I said or did something wrong, but he wouldn’t call me stupid or thoughtless. He liked teaching me things, but he also preferred to be the one in control.”
“That’s not unusual. Many Heads of Households prefer to set the rules. So when did he give you your first spanking?”
Elly squirmed as she recalled the embarrassing day in question. She didn’t care for the direction this conversation was taking, but understood why Jerry was asking, so she did her best to be honest. “A few days after we were settled in our new home. I burned our dinner and set off the smoke detector, bringing the fire department to our door.”
“Hmm. Let me guess. He punished you for being inattentive to the point you put yourself and your home in danger in a way that humiliated him?”
Elly gaped in surprise. “How did you know?”
“I finally figured out how your husband thinks.”

Elly wants Jerry to insist her fears are foolish, but he's not about to do that.  He loves her, and he takes her concerns seriously.  So, he's determined they discuss her worries and address them before things get out of hand. However, her first marriage was so disastrous, she's terrified to try again.

Valentine's Day in Corbin's Bend.  As Elly Benson readies herself for her second wedding, the doubts and misgivings of any new bride-to-be are exacerbated by the abuse she suffered during her first marriage.

Though she's lived with Jerry Douglas for four months now, and been subject to his discipline more than once, Elly's first husband had been kind and careful with her, too, until the day she vowed to love, honor and obey him.  The lessons she's learned from the past make her doubt she can ever find happiness in the future.

#WIPitUP - 9/27/17 - A Simple Misunderstanding - Elly's thoughts wander in dangerous directions #CorbinsBend #DD

WIP: Work in progress.  WIP it up Wednesday is a hop where writers share portions of the project they're working on with readers.  I really like the idea because it allows me to share something that's still in the creative stage as well as work behind the scenes as a prompt to keep me writing.

However, today, I've decided to take a break from my WIP in order to share an excerpt from my first book in the Corbin's Bend series, A Simple Misunderstanding, where I tackle the problem of recognizing and addressing spousal abuse in a liberal spanking community. The community's residents right to privacy is paramount, and sometimes rough play can produce bruises that appear similar to abuse. So, as long as both partners deny any problems exist, the community can't take action. To do so would jeopardize the very foundation of what they've struggled so hard to build.

He came to her rescue when she needed him most, almost to lose her when she disobeyed him.

In this scene, which occurs in Chapter 3, Gerald Douglas (Jerry, who is the Corbin's Bend veterinarian) suspects Eleanor Benson (Elly) is being abused. So, he's asked her mentor, Kelli Stevens, to check on her. Both submissives and dominants are assigned mentors in Corbin's Bend to help them with any issues or questions they might have about the domestic discipline dynamic. Though Elly likes Kelli, she blames herself for any problems she and Arthur may be experiencing, so she's not been entirely honest with her mentor. Kelli suspects this and asks if Elly would prefer to have a younger mentor. Elly is surprised by the question, so Kelli points to the bruises on Elly's wrists. Bruises left by the handcuffs Arthur had put on her the night before. Elly promptly covers the marks, insisting they were her fault for struggling so hard. Kelli isn't sure she believes Kelly, but other than calling Elly a liar she has no choice but to accept the younger woman's word.

Kelli rose and Elly quickly followed her mentor to the door. “Thank you for stopping by, Kelli.”
“We’re here for you, dear. Don’t ever forget that. If you need help, or have any questions, call me. Any time. Day or night. All right?”
Elly gave another nod. “You’re very kind. Thank you again.”
With a smile, Kelli left and Elly sank against her closed front door. They meant well. All of them. But they didn’t understand. And they weren’t helping.

* * * *

Once Elly had finished her vacuuming and dusting, she showered and changed into a dress, since Arthur didn’t approve of her wearing jeans or slacks. He was old-fashioned that way, but Elly didn’t mind. She liked putting on dresses and heels. Sitting on the edge of the bed to draw up her stockings, she wondered whether Dr. Douglas objected to women wearing pants. She found herself thinking of the vet often and knew she shouldn’t, which was one of the reasons she’d been avoiding taking Muffin back to the park. Their fenced in backyard sufficed to give the tiny poodle exercise, and even though Muffin enjoyed playing with Jack, Jerry's black lab, Elly didn’t want to risk Arthur’s displeasure by spending too much time with their handsome vet. Then again, Arthur couldn’t care less who Elly visited with at the dog park as long as her visits didn’t take any of her time or attention away from him.

Though a part of her knows she wasn't being entirely truthful with Kelli, Elly blames herself for her husband's firm discipline. She's convinced if she just tries a little harder things will be better between them.
