Guest Post - 2/4/16 - Back in Charge by Dinah McLeod - Trying Again #DD #SpankingRomance

Dinah McLeod is dropping by today to talk about her newest release "Back in Charge," a marriage-in-trouble story where the heroine, Sadie, knows she needs her husband to take her in hand again…the only question is will she let him?

Excerpt:

“Spread your legs,” he commanded huskily.
Oh, yes, she’d missed this. She missed the spanking, sure, but she’d missed this. Robert being all in-control and authoritative. She’d never seen him look so sexy.
As soon as she’d obeyed, he slid a finger in to test her wetness. When he pulled his finger out, he held it up, showing her how shiny it was with her juices. “Naughty girl,” he tsked. “Now, is that for me, or because of that book you’ve been reading?”
“I…um…” She stammered, flushing until her face felt like it might burst into flame.
“Naughty girl,” he said again, this time grinning wolfishly. “It doesn’t matter. It’ll be my name you’re crying out. I’ll make sure of it.”
She closed her eyes, caught up in the picture he painted, nearly trembling in eagerness. With firm, but gentle hands, he spread her thighs wider and then she felt his fingers trace the line of her clit, she shivered. When he slid two long digits inside, her eyes snapped open as she tensed, yelping in protest.
            “What? What is it?”
“Nothing, just…when did your hands get so rough?”
“My hands?” His brow furrowed. “I haven’t been doing anything differently. It’s been a little while. We’re just going to have to ease back into things and get reacquainted.”
“Yeah.” She gave him a sheepish grin. “I guess you’re right.”
“We’ll get there. Don’t worry.” Robert leaned over her and Sadie raised her mouth for his kiss. He bent down, but stopped short just before he met her lips. “Unless…”
            “Unless what?”
“Unless you think my hands are rough because you’re used to different hands now?”
Her flush went deeper still. “Don’t be silly, Honey, I—”
He took her hand in his, brought it to his lips and kissed her fingers. “Maybe, for example, this hand?”
There was nothing she could say. Well, she supposed she could remind him that she was right handed, but that was beside the point, and she knew it.
“That’s it, isn’t it?” He sat back on his heels, a gleam in his eye. “Is that how you were getting yourself through those long, lonely nights?”

Blurb:

Sadie wonders exactly when her perfect life changed into chaos. She's just had a baby and everything feels out of whack. Her sanity, her life as a mother, and most importantly, her marriage.
When she meets Lexi at a local MOMs event, the two instantly click. It is wonderful to be able to talk with another adult who understands the whirlwind of playing many roles. As their friendship grows, Sadie shares her concern that her husband is hiding something. With Lexi's advice and encouragement, Sadie knows she has to do something. Fearing what she'll find, she plays detective and what she discovers has her world tipping even further off-balance.
Robert knows that his wife has not been herself. When her behavior spirals out of control, he believes there is but one solution. He needs to remind her of exactly how much he loves her. He knows that they were happiest when they practiced domestic discipline and begins to attempt to get their marriage back on track. They need to make a change and he believes 'boot camp' will do them both a world of good. The question is, can he get Sadie to give him her consent all over again? Will she agree that what she desperately needs is for him to be back in charge?

Dinah McLeod's Heroine gets "Swept Off Her Feet" - Guest Post #Spanking

We're celebrating Thanksgiving out west this year.  So, put on your chaps, strap on your spurs and saddle your pony.  You're about to be swept off your feet....

From the cover of Swept Off Her Feet
Dinah McLeod's new book is the first in her Swift Justice series, so it introduces us to the Swift family, which consists of Maggie, her brothers Wesley and Trent as well as their wives Libby and Abby.  Though this is primarily Maggie and Clayborn's book, we get to meet Maggie's two sexy brothers and their spirited wives. Lots of spanking and "Swift" justice.

Swept Off Her Feet has been on Blushing Book's top seller list since the day it was released.  But rather than have me prattle on about it, I'll let Dinah tell you a little about her story then give you a titillating excerpt.  So, hold on to your hats, buckaroos, we're goin' for a ride....

Twenty-nine years old and still without a husband, Maggie Swift does her best to be happy living on the family ranch. Now that her brothers are both married, however, she cannot help but feel she is being pushed out of her own home by her sisters-in-law… especially Libby. Her brother does his best to keep his bride in line—often with a firm hand applied to her bare bottom—but Maggie cannot seem to reconcile with the beautiful, feisty shopkeepers-daughter.

She has all but resigned herself to miserable spinsterhood, until an absentminded stroll through town leaves her standing unexpectedly in front of a rough-looking saloon. It is there that she is confronted and scolded by the imposing, ruggedly-handsome Clayborn Callahan. Offered a ride with him, Maggie accepts, promising that she will not be missed for a few hours though she knows her brothers will be worried sick.

When her lie is found out, Maggie discovers that her new suitor is more than ready to take her out back and make her cut a switch. In spite of her sore bottom, Maggie feels something for Clayborn that she has never felt for any man, and she is excited when he asks to come calling again. She wonders, though, if she can be the well-behaved woman he expects, or whether she will find herself over his knee more often than her pride and her tender bottom can handle.

The minute the door swung closed, I walked to my brat of a wife and took her by the arm. I could feel her trembling beneath my fingers, but she was anything but contrite. Libby had always been strong willed, but I knew it wasn’t anything that I couldn’t handle. I led her to the table where we took our meals and pulled a chair out. When I sat down, I brought her to stand in front of me, between my knees.
“Libby, what were you thinking?” I asked, my voice gruff. By God, the woman was beautiful. I didn’t know how her skin stayed so milky white under the sharp heat of the sun, but I loved it. Her eyes reminded me of violets, although the sweet smell of her skin sweeter than the flowers. We didn’t get much time alone in the house, and my arms ached for her to fill them, but unfortunately my duty as a husband called for me to deal with this unpleasantness.
“I’m sorry,” she said, her voice sullen.
I frowned at her. I’d like to get this over with as soon as possible—I had a list of chores to do that was longer than my arm, but Libby could be stubborn at the best of times. “Don’t worry, little lady, you’ll have cause to be sorry soon enough. But that doesn’t answer my question: why’d you do it?”
“I just…” She huffed loudly, tossing her hair, “I’m tired of you buying presents for that old maid!”
I was startled by the venom in her words. “Unmarried she might be, but she’s still my sister, Libby.”
“More to the pity,” she sniffed.
I arched a brow at her. She sure did have a quick mouth, and all too often it didn’t suit her. “The two of you carrying on like you do is nothing but bad medicine. This needs to stop.”
“Then tell her to stop acting like such a big bug!” she demanded, pointing an accusing finger at the door. “She walks around her like she owns the place, and you and your brother are just her servants!”
I guffawed at her. “That’s ridiculous, Libby.             Quit making such a fuss!”
She turned those pretty eyes on me, and narrowed them in anger. “I am not making a fuss, Wesley Swift! You need to do something about her, I can’t take it any longer!”
I returned her glare, feeling myself getting incensed now. Clearly my beautiful bride needed a reminder of who wore the pants in this family, and I was determined to give it to her. “I’d suggest you watch that tongue of yours, unless you want me to take you out back to the shed.”
My words hit their mark, and I saw Libby blanch when she took their meaning. The color began to drain from her face, and she hung her head. It could be that she was well and truly sorry, or she was just backing off to catch her breath. Never could tell with that woman.

Guest Post - Dinah McLeod - A Truly Errant Bride?

I'm delighted to have Dinah McLeod as a guest on my couch today.  She's promised to give us some juicy background on her novel, "The Errant Bride," as well as a few details about her upcoming sequel "Mona's Second Chance," due out this September.

First of all, Dinah, why don't you tell us what inspired you to write your first book, "The Errant Bride"?

The Errant Bride, is about Sara Harris, who is newly married to the man of her dreams, Ethan. She thinks everything is going well and is surprised to discover that he disagrees. They have a discussion via a bare bottomed spanking, and she is thrust into the world of domestic discipline which changes a lot of things between them but in the end strengthens their love.

I practice DD in real life, and I also was the one who brought it to my husband. Writing helps me explore, and I was interested in exploring the emotions behind DD because while I’d felt them I hadn’t been able to articulate them, so I took that as a challenge. Also, I thought it would be neat to try to see my husband’s viewpoint through the eyes of my character, Sara.

I like the fact you decided to try to put your personal feelings into words.  So, how long did you write before you were published?

I’ve been writing my whole life, really. Apparently I was pretty talkative from the get-go, so in first grade my teacher devised a way to keep me quiet while the other kids were still working: she had me write a story! Interestingly enough, she thought I was pretty good and had me make into a “real” book and had me showcase it, so that’s where it all started. The Errant Bride, my first work, is the only thing I’ve ever submitted for publication. I was very excited that it was accepted and published.

A writer's first publication is always very exciting.  Since you were trying to give expression to your feelings in The Errant Bride, did you include any experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

I haven’t done that…yet. But I intend to soon, if permission is granted by the proper authorities. J

Hopefully, the proper authorities will be amenable to your request.  So, tell us, what is the most you have written in one day?

19 pages. I consider it quite a feat and have never done as much before or since!

That is impressive.  Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

I know this is going to sound odd, but the thing I find the most challenging is keeping myself interested. I have learned very quickly that if I’m bored, I just can’t write it. That was a particular challenge in my last book where I had to keep redoing and redoing scenes until I liked them. And of course, if you’re bored your reader probably will be, too!

Only too true.  So, what are your current projects?

My next book that is coming out is called “Mona’s Second Chance” about a divorced woman still in love with her ex-husband. Mona is making an effort to move on with her life until Colby follows through on a threat to spank her! But can they make it work this time around?

I love second chance romances.  If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

There are so many! Since I’ve joined what I joking call “Spanking Facebook” I’ve had such great experiences with so many amazing authors. Renee Rose, as previously mentioned, Constance Masters, Courage Knight, Patty Devlin, and Kathryn Blake, of course! I could go on and on. Each one of them has been a huge help to me and that is so encouraging because this is a business that takes a while to develop, and that can be disheartening. Without all of them I don’t know if my experience as a writer would be so enjoyable.

They are all great spanking romance authors who I enjoy reading as well (and yes, I also enjoy my own books).  So, what are you currently reading?

And the Mountains Echoed by Khaled Hosseini; he is an amazingly gifted writer I love every one of his books. I am also reading Safe in His Arms by Renee Rose, who is another very talented writer. I have been excited to discover her work—it’s funny, sexy, and enthralling all at once.

I really like the cover for The Errant Bride.  Can you tell us who designed it?

Erin Dameron-Hill. She did such an amazing job—I love my cover, and she is definitely a hard act to follow, because I’m pretty sure thanks to her creative brilliance I am going to judge covers a lot more critically in the future!

On a lighter note, if you could have any super power, what would it be?

The power to see into the future. I think we all have questions we’d like the answers to.

I think being able to predict the future is scary, especially if you don't have the power to change it. What is your best guilty pleasure? (By best I mean worst.)

Honestly my best/worst guilty pleasure is spanking stories! Sorry, I wish I could be more interesting but that’s honestly the raciest thing about me.

I do understand what you mean.  I love settling down to read, and reading helps your craft as well. Speaking of craft, do you have any advice for other writers?

Keep writing, no matter how bad you think it is! And DO NOT ERASE! You might be able to use it later, or even for another story. I never erase anything. What you think is garbage now might be a gem later.

Great advice.  So, below is a little information about Dinah, where we can find her, and where we can purchase The Errant Bride.

Dinah McLeod is a writer of spanking fiction and a stay at home mom to two beautiful, crazy-funny little girls. Her hobbies include reading spanking romances while blushing, cleaning toilets, and wishing for the super power of invisibility so that she could take a nap.
