Guest Post - 9/18/17 - All They Ever Needed - Thianna Durston - Blog Tour #Gay #MM #DD

Today, we're participating in Thianna Durston's re-release blog tour for her wonderful gay men Domestic Discipline romance series "All They Ever Needed." I'll let Thianna take it away...

Hello! And welcome to the Release Tour for the rewritten and rereleased All They Ever Needed trilogy. If you haven’t read Logan & Christian’s tale, this is a perfect opportunity to do so. The series is available as separate novels and as a boxed set. They should be read in order.

Kathryn likes to ask questions of her guest posters. There are some great questions.

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book? *Laughs* Kind of did. I got the rights back to All They Ever Needed in Spring 2017. All three novels have been rewritten and tweaked. I got rid of the stuff that bothered me while keeping the charm of the original novels.

What genres do you write besides M/M Domestic Discipline Romance? Oh, I write all over the board. From M/M to M/F, romance to sci-fi, metaphysics to BDSM, paranormal to contemporary. I also write Inspirational Romance every once in a while. It all depends on the pseudonym. Under Thianna Durston, I write M/M Romance with a hint of spice (okay, so sometimes there’s more than a hint *wink*). There are 2 domestic discipline series, BDSM, contemporary, paranormal, action/suspense, vampire cowboys, and even a holiday book or two. I write like I read – just about everything under the sun :D

Are you a plotter or a pantser? I used to be a pantser – All They Ever Needed was written purely from sitting down and writing, without knowing where I was going. However, I’ve changed the way I write. Now, it’s a wonderful blend of inspiration and basic outlining. Once I can outline a book, I don’t hit writer’s block. Plus, I can create more complex storylines with multiple subplots. I love it.

What is the most you have written in one day? Ready for this? 22,000 words. I was writing one of the challenge months and on one day, I reached just over 22k. That month I topped 300k. Usually my days are more like 5000 words.

What are your current projects? *looks at projects and blanches – soooo many.* I’m working at finishing my Drakyl Ranch & The Shift series, redoing Pillar in the Snow as a full-length novel with new characters and a different backdrop, a new adult Sci-Fi trilogy of which the 1st book is written and the other two are outlined and plotted, a mainstream military meets contemporary fantasy series of which the 1st book is written, the second is plotted, and the other two novels have the basics down, and I’m working on my art because I have a young adult series which I want to bring out in graphic novel format – so I’m perfecting the characters.

Who designed your cover? I did. I created two completely different designs and had the fans of my works vote on them. So I might have designed them, but they chose them. I’m happy with the result :)

Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest? They aren’t ‘new’ but I love their work so much that I grasp any new book they have out.

Jordan L. Hawk writes m/m paranormal, mostly historical, romance. (though she’s got a kick-ass contemporary paranormal too.) Her writing is simply SUPERB. I don’t read horror as a rule, but her Whyborne & Griffin series was so good, I chose to leave the light on overnight when I bought the first three books because I haaaaad to finish it. I could go on and on about her Hexworld series. Seriously good writing.

Heidi Cullinan writes m/m contemporary romance for the most part.

Madeleine Ribbon is a relatively ‘new to me’ author. She writes a m/m contemporary fantasy romance series called Faire Folk. It’s about a faire that’s run by magic that goes between our world and somewhere else. I’m calmly (or trying to be) waiting for the next in the series.

Where do you write? I live in a basement apartment. It’s one large space. So my bedroom sits on one side and my ‘office’ on the other. I have a long desk with my computer supplies and my bookshelves behind me. It’s a wonderful spot.

When do you write, morning or night? Whenever the mood strikes. I’m not one of those people who writes better at one time of the day. I’ve written early morning, afternoon, evening, and in a few instances at 2am when I woke up with a character chattering in my head and wanted to get it all down before I went back to sleep.

Can you share a little of your current work with us?  Sure can! Beware, this is NSFW ;)

Excerpt:
“Sorry,” he grunted as he realized what he was doing. He moved to climb off, but Logan stopped him.
“It’s okay,” Logan panted. “Did it not feel good?”
“It felt great,” Christian admitted, kissing him and moaning when Logan’s hips lifted a little. “I want more, Logan, I don’t know how, or what, to do. You’re a man. It’s different.”
Smiling, Logan leaned forward and pecked him on the lips. “Same erogenous zones, Christian. You stroke some slightly different.” Pausing, he seemed to assess the situation. “Since this is new, you feel more comfortable in the dominant position?”
Unsure, Christian sat back. “I don’t know about that. I mean, with Kelli I was always the one who wanted more. With you?” He grinned sheepishly. “It’s amazing to be with someone who actively wants more.”
“Well,” Logan returned, “since this is all new for you, let’s take it nice and slow. We don’t have to go skin to skin yet. Instead, let me show you how good a dry hump can feel.”
Christian raised an eyebrow. “I know how a dry hump feels.”
“Against another cock?”
Heat rushed into his face. “Uhh, guess not.”
Looking as though he was fighting a grin, Logan nodded to the spot next to him. “Game? Lie back and let’s come in our pants.”
“Romantic you’re not.” Christian snorted, his body shaking with laughter.
“Oh, you want romance?” Logan’s eyes twinkled. “Sorry, shall I put on some sappy music, buy you roses, and say platitudes in your ear about how your stubby blond hair appears like tinsel sort of and how—”
“Shut up.” Christian laughed, once again reminded how easy it was to be with Logan. He had never felt that comfortable with someone. “You’re an ass.”
“Well, I do have one,” Logan agreed, reaching around behind Christian and patting his behind. “And so do you. A nice tight one it is too.” He squeezed.
A moan escaped Christian’s lips as once again thoughts of Logan spanking him filled his head.
“You like that, Christian?” Logan’s voice took on a deeper timber, which made Christian’s heart beat faster. “Do you like having your ass touched and fondled?” He massaged both cheeks, which made Christian pant. He wanted to say no, to change the subject, but found it difficult as it felt so damned good. “Mmm, you are a good boy, aren’t you?” Suddenly Logan’s lips were at his ear. “What else do you like?” He tapped his ass lightly. “Tell me and I can make you feel good.”
Whimpering, Christian trembled. He wanted to say it, expose his fantasy, but was hanging on the edge, too unsure. “Do you like to be spanked, Christian?” Once the question was whispered into his ear, he could no longer hold it in.
“I want to be spanked.” Freezing, as his admission was loud in the space, his eyes flashed open and he looked into Logan’s eyes. He half expected to see either amusement or disgust in them. Instead, he saw desire, want, and need. His cock grew harder.
“Have you ever been spanked?” Logan asked quietly, firmly, in such a way he couldn’t not answer.
“No. But I’ve fantasized about it my entire life. When you smacked my ass yesterday?” Christian gulped. “Damn, but I thought I would come right then.”
A slow smile lit up Logan’s face. “I would be honored to hand you your first spanking. I bet I could make it good.”
Heat rushed through Christian’s veins. Logan offered to give him the one thing he had always wanted. Should he take it? Shaking aside the naysayers in his head, he nodded. “Please, Logan. I’ve always wanted to know how it felt.”
 “Bare-handed or belt?”
His jaw dropped.
“I don’t have anything else with me.”
Realizing that Logan knew more than he expected, he cleared his throat. “What’s the difference?”
“The sting in the snap. Plus some people have an affinity for leather or skin to skin contact.”
Trembling, he whispered, “Bare-handed.” That had been his earliest fantasy, to have a bare palm smack his ass.
“All right. With or without your pants?” While he talked, Logan continued to massage his ass cheeks and Christian barely was able to hold himself still.
“Umm…” Skin to skin was what he wanted, but taking off his pants? Was that a good idea?
“It’s up to you. You’ll still feel it over your jeans, and if you aren’t sure, it might be an easier entrance into spanking.”
Deciding he would ask Logan about that comment later, he stepped back off the sofa, making Logan’s arms drop to his side. Taking a deep breath, he unbuttoned his jeans and pushed them down, knowing his hard-on showed through his briefs.
“All right, over my lap,” Logan said, scooting toward the front of the sofa.
Grinning at the full fantasy unfolding before him, Christian bent over his lap, chuckling as Logan pushed him further so that his ass stuck up in the air. “I knew you were a kinky Santa.”
Logan tapped a few times on his ass cheeks and chuckled. “This is about as kinky as it gets for me, but I do enjoy spanking.”
Smack!
A gasp left Christian’s lips as warmth spread across his right cheek. Swat! With each hit, Logan’s hand hit a slightly different area and warmth shot out from each blow.
With his hands and feet on the ground, Christian moaned with each hit. Damn but this was nice, so much better than he imagined.
When a particularly hard swing made him grunt in both pleasure and pain, a strange little cry left his lips as Logan went back to massaging. “Still okay?” Logan asked quietly.
“Yes,” Christian panted. “Better than my fantasies.”
“That’s good to hear.” The smile was evident in Logan’s voice. “Now, I have a suggestion, but it would include touching, which I don’t know if you’re ready for. It’s called an erotic spanking and would include both spanking and touch. I promise to keep my fingers on top of the material, but won’t do it unless you agree.”
Logan wanted to touch him, possibly stroke his cock. Oh god, how Christian wanted that. He wanted to feel Logan touching him, though he didn’t have any idea why he would combine it with spanking. “Do it,” he said in short breaths, unwilling to back off from the pleasure he was experiencing.
“All right.”
Whack!
That was the hardest one yet and even as Christian winced at the pain, the heat spread and pleasure sizzled along his skin. The pressure intensified with each swing and when Christian wondered if he would need to have Logan stop, he did. Everything changed. Strong fingers stroked between his legs over his underwear. They rubbed over his anus, around and on his perineum, and massaged his balls.
“Oh, fuck!” Christian gasped, arching a little. That was something nobody had ever done before, not even himself except while washing—never for the feelings it might provide.
Those wonderful strong fingers went back, rubbing directly over that wonderful patch of skin between his scrotum and his anus, making him grunt in pleasure. Then they trailed up and around his asshole, making tiny little circles. “Oh, god, oh, god,” Christian chanted, feeling as though he was in a fantasy. Surely reality could not feel that good?

As Natural as Breathing – Book One
For Christian Darringer, life isn't worth living. Just back from the Middle East—scarred and with permanent damage to one leg—he doesn't think anyone will want him for anything. He didn't plan on meeting someone he can’t stop thinking about. Pulled toward the startling younger man, he begins to question a lot of things—especially his sexuality. Not one to hide from a challenge, he plunges ahead only to find himself more than just attracted to Logan.

Logan Mannette has almost everything he ever wanted: loving parents, happiness, friends, and security. The only thing missing is the love of his life, a love just like his parents have. When he meets Christian at a party, everything changes. Instantly attracted, he does his best to help the sad man and quickly finds himself feeling more than he has ever felt before. Raised in a domestic discipline household, he holds that ideal as what he wants. His interest in spanking has become a fetish and when Christian admits he wants to be spanked, Logan believes he might have found the perfect man.

Just as everything begins for them, Christian's past intercedes and one of his brothers makes waves about him dating a man. When it lands Christian in the hospital, he is forced to reevaluate their budding romance. Being with Logan might feel as natural as breathing, but if it costs Christian everything he cares about, is this new relationship worth it?

Took My Breath Away – Book Two
While unhappy to be missing four weeks of Christian's company, Logan is thrilled to spend a month with his father's relatives in New York. A naturally gregarious individual, he’s used to winning people over and getting things right. Unfortunately the Mannettes are not what he expects and for the first time in his life, he doubts who he is.

Christian has regained some of his old self-esteem and is taking on new challenges. Besides growing in the relationship he has with Logan, he takes the time his boyfriend is away to learn more about domestic discipline. He learns a little online but it is Gregory, Logan's father, where he gains most of his information. Including the fact that his natural strength puts him in a position he doesn’t expect.

Logan hits rock bottom and Christian runs to the rescue. He saves Logan from New York, but puts their relationship in a new sort of peril. When the dust settles, who will be left on top?

Breathe Each Other In – Book Three
Christian takes to heart everything he learns from Logan's father. As he and Logan go forward in their DD relationship, he finds that he’s willing to not just take on the mantle of head of house, but to embrace it. With Logan graduating from college, Christian takes the next logical step and asks his boyfriend to move in.

Even with the stress of student teaching and trying to figure out what to do after graduation, Logan leaps at the chance to live with the man he loves. The pressure of graduation begins to get to him and the only thing keeping him grounded is the amazing man at his side.

Those closest to them make huge changes in their own lives and when an unexpected job offer lands in Logan's lap, they have to make a life-altering decision. No matter which way they go, they need to give something up. Play it safe and stay home or accept the job and move away from their families? When it comes to decision time, there is one thing they are not willing to part with. That one thing makes all the difference in the world.

As Natural as Breathing Tour Stop - It's Day 10 for Thianna D. #GayRomance #Spanking

Thanks, Kathryn, for letting my book tour be on A Writer’s Naughty Thoughts today:)

This is day 10 of the As Natural As Breathing Book Blog Tour. Have you been reading along? If not, you can find all the posts here.

All right! Kathryn asked to interview me for this post, so let’s see what she had to ask…and my responses. Are you ready?

How long did you write before you were published?
Well, I have been writing stories since I was five. So a very long time. But if we are talking serious writing where I was writing with the intention of getting a book done and out to the public? Five years. It took me five years to write my first fantasy novel.

How long did it take you to write your current book?
As Natural As Breathing took a month to write and then four months to edit, rip apart, re-write and get it to a point of submitting to a publisher. I am really big at putting a manuscript away for at least a few weeks, many times much longer until I can look at it with a fresh eye. That way I can fix and get rid of any big problems before editing commences.

What genres do you write besides spanking romance?
Well, under the name Thianna D, I write both erotica and erotic romance. You will find spanking in many of them. (Though not in my next Library Tale.) Many of my books have some form of BDSM involvement. I write both straight and gay and I enjoy writing both equally.

Under an entirely different name, I write romance, fantasy and even some non-fiction stuff.

I have multiple reading/writing interests.

What is your best guilty pleasure? (By best I mean worst.)
LOL Okay, are we talking sexually? Or foodwise? Hmm, let’s choose bookwise. I love Twilight. Say what you will about the main characters, I do love the love story in it. Because after all – I am a sucker for a good love story. (Which is probably why all but one of my books ends either HFN or HEA.)

As for food guilty pleasures? Hostess powdered sugar donuts. You know the ones? They pop easily into the mouth and are covered in lovely sugar? I thought I was safe when Hostess went under…and then they came back. And – oh look – there is a bag sitting right next to my computer.

Are you a plotter or a pantser?
A pantser for the most part. Most of the time when I sit down to write, I have no idea what is about to come out of the ether and flow through my fingers, either on to the page or into the keyboard. It is like I am the first person to read this amazing story.

However, the longer the book, the more I need a basic clue of where I am going. For instance, in the series that starts with my new book As Natural As Breathing. When I finished the first book, I was able to write down a couple simple things about the next two books so I knew where the story was headed. But it is just huge plot points. Each story itself is still a major surprise. And let me tell you, the second one in this series which will be out in January 2014 was a huge surprise in the best way.

And I like it that way.

What is the most you have written in one day?
I never really started counting daily numbers until the last six months or so, but my largest day was July 23rd. How do I know the date? I was taking part in JulNoWriMo and tracked my numbers daily. I wrote 14,314 words that day.

If you could have any super power, what would it be?
Don’t laugh! I would have the power to attract men I am attracted to. That’s my goal. Seriously. Am tired of attracting men that are the opposite of what I want.

Did you include any experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
Yes, I did. Christian suffers from PTSD due to his time in Afghanistan. I suffer from PTSD due to events in my childhood. I understand the panic attacks, the tension, the isolation, and the pain involved. There is a scene where an attack takes him down and my editor said she could feel his emotions intensely during it.

When do you write, morning or night?
I write best in the afternoon and evening, but I have also been known to wake up at 3 a.m. when one of my characters decides they must chatter at that point and write for a couple hours before going back to sleep.

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
Interesting question. Two authors that I have listened to for years and took on habits that they both work with are R.L. Stein and Steven King. So, in many ways, those two are my mentors. They just don’t know it.

Name one entity (person, place or thing) you feel supported or inspired you outside of your family members.
I grew up in a community and religious atmosphere wherein I was treated horribly. Because of that, I fight hard for the rights of those who might be considered ‘different’ just like I was. Because different is not bad. In fact it should be lauded, not defiled.

Can you share a little of your current work with us?
Would love to! In this excerpt, Christian was in an accident and has come to spend the day with Logan.

“What are you doing?” Christian asked.

“Reading your meds.” When Christian gave him a disbelieving look, he added, “Hey, Dad’s a doctor. I’m anal-retentive when it comes to medication.”

As much as he did not want to take them, he knew he needed to. Unfortunately, one side effect was that they made him sleepy, and he kept drifting in and out of consciousness. The second time he woke up groggily, he groaned. “This sucks,” he muttered. “I came to spend the day with you and all I’m doing is sleeping.”

“You are still here,” Logan reminded him, hugging him close. “I cannot imagine anything I would rather do.”

“You wouldn’t rather be spanking my ass?” Christian yawned.

Logan’s body shook with silent laughter and he smiled. “When you are better, I’ll be happy to paint your ass red. But if you feel up to it, there are a few things we could do that shouldn’t wear you out. In fact, they would relax you into another nap quite easily.”

Immediately alert, Christian nodded. He wanted to feel as good as he had yesterday before the whole Brian experience.

“Great. Well, first we need to get naked.”

Grinning, Christian struggled to sit up. “Nothing bad can start with that phrase.”

Thianna D
For Thianna D, reading and writing are as important as breathing and far more important than math or science. A storyteller from the time she could speak, she was always making up characters as a kid. As a teenager that turned to sci-fi and fantasy, as an adult to romance. It wasn’t until her fourth decade that she began writing erotic scenes within her stories.
Writing M/M came naturally to her; she wrote her first tale before ever having read one. “There is something about the amazing dynamic between two strong men falling in love and defeating anything thrown at them.” While she had written several BDSM stories involving men, As Natural As Breathing was the first full-length novel involving domestic discipline.
