It's MFRW Book Hooks, a regular Wednesday feature!  This week, I'm sharing an excerpt from my 1st book, Mortal Illusions. A vampire romance published by New Concepts Publishing, Mortal Illusions is currently the first in a series of 3 books.  Its sequel, Fatal Desire, is currently under production.

 

This snippet occurs at the beginning of Chapter 13.  Germaine St. Justine and Claire Daniels have finally made up after their first fight and spent the night together making love. Despite being a two hundred year old vampire and therefore a night creature, Germaine gets up with Claire in the morning and informs her he'd like to watch her exercise.  The idea makes Claire slightly uncomfortable, but she agrees.  All is going well until Germaine suggests Claire remove her sweat suit so he can better gauge her workout's efficiency.  When Claire informs him she doesn't have any tights, he suggests she exercise the way the greatest athletes in the world once did.  In the nude.  Naturally shy, Claire isn't at all sure she is ready to accede to Germaine's request.

             It took a bit more convincing, but once Claire managed to get over her personal inhibitions concerning nudity, she discovered she rather enjoyed Germaine's instruction.  He knew a lot about the  human body, and with the aid of his firm touch and gentle guidance, this exercise session was far more profitable and pleasurable than any Claire had previously grunted and ground her way through.

             By the time they stopped for breakfast, Claire was famished.  Yet, it wasn't hunger that prompted her to sit unfettered and naked at the kitchen counter while she consumed a bowl of cereal, half a grapefruit and cup of coffee.  Being unclothed with Germaine seemed a natural extension of their morning play.  It felt right and incredibly intimate.

Despite Claire's initial unease, Germaine wants to remove all the barriers he senses exist between them.  Even if it's just clothes.
