WIP: Work in progress. WIP it up Wednesday is a hop where writers share portions of the project they're working on with readers. I really like the idea because it allows me to share something that's still in the creative stage as well as work behind the scenes as a prompt to keep me writing.
Since I currently do not have any WIPs ready to share, I thought I would post a snippet from "Lessons in Love." my executive office spanking romance.
Pam Weston has worked in Robert Peterson's company for nearly six months as a temp when she is reassigned to the President's office. She has caught glimpses of Mr. Peterson when she temped on the executive floor, but she never expected she'd be summoned to work for him. Pam has a criminal record and a murky past, which has made her practically unemployable, and yet now H.R. has assigned her to work for the president of their company, and after her first day she suspects working for Mr. Peterson will be a very different experience.
In this excerpt, Mr. Peterson has ordered Pam to block off the morning on his calendar so they could have a "discussion" about his expectations for her as his assistant. Pam is understandably nervous to have his intentions spelled out in black and white, but she does her best to appear calm and collected until she realizes this "discussion" is going to take them into subjects she'd much rather avoid, and she admits he's different with her today than he was the night before.
He reached for her
hand and gave her fingers a light squeeze. "How so?"
"Well, for one,
you weren't in a suit."
"Ah. The
businessman syndrome. I should have realized." He stood up and removed his
jacket, which he draped over the chair, loosened his tie, and rolled up his
sleeves. Placing his hands on his hips, he turned to face her.
"Better?"
She smiled and
shrugged. Even in jeans, the man looked dangerous. Standing with his firm
biceps exposed, he looked even more so, but she wasn't about to tell him that.
"Still doesn't
do it for you?" He took a seat beside her and grabbed her arm to pull her
over. Instant terror gripped Pam's insides as she fought against his hold. He
didn't argue, scold, or give any outward appearance that he recognized her
resistance; he simply pulled until she had no choice but go where he directed.
Letting out a small scream, she ended up sitting on his lap before he wrapped
his arms around her. "What did you think I was going to do?"
With a shake of her
head, Pam struggled to rise, but he refused to release her. She resisted more
desperately, but his arms remained locked about her waist, not budging an inch.
When Pam Weston was ordered to report to the CEO of Peterson Enterprises she had no idea her new boss had hired her specifically as his next pet project, so she took the assignment suspecting he would fire her before the end of the day. Recognizing a prison record rendered her unemployable by most companies, she worked hard and kept a low profile. Except, working as an executive assistant for the CEO was about as "high profile" as any job could get. And working for Robert Peterson in particular would present Pam with challenges she never expected.

Great snippet Kathryn, I suspect Pam though she would be over his knee rather than on it lol. Love how he tries to make her at ease and isn't letting go of her

Pam should tell Mr. Peterson the truth, Kathryn. If she doesn't she'll end up over his knee I'm guessing.
