Welcome to Horny Hump Day, a regular Wednesday feature! In this blog loop, we hope to provide you with tiny little tidbits of the most sexy and sensuous moments in our books. Just 3 sentences. The books might be already published, works-in-progress, or even classic literature we think you’ll like.

This post for HHD is from my 2nd book, Deadly Enchantment, a shape-shifting wizard romance published by New Concepts Publishing.  The story revolves around a young psychic woman facing off with the dark wizard of Ravenscroft, who she is convinced has brutally slaughtered her sister in a fit of jealous rage on their wedding night.

In this segment, Dominic's deepening feelings for Serena make it more likely his evil brother will target her.  Rather than risk losing her for good, Dominic decides to send Serena home directly after the funeral of his sister.  Serena doesn't want to leave, but arguing will gain her nothing but his anger and the likelihood of a more speedy departure, so she remains silent. Though Dominic is suspicious of Serena's new found docility, until she is safely away from him he insists she sleep in his bed.  Dominic knows he is endangering Serena's life by keeping her with him, but he is unable to let her go.  He desires her, yet hates himself for not having more control.  Serena is more practical and replies "I'm here," when he admits how badly he needs her.

He groaned.  “Yes, but you shouldn’t be,” he advised her, his voice a low growl.  “If I were any sort of gentleman, I would have told Frederick to mind his own business and sent you away.  But he said I wasn’t being fair, and I grabbed at the most flimsiest of excuses to keep you by my side.

Torn between his desire to protect the woman he loves, and his need to be with her, Dominic takes what she so willingly offers him.

  1. I can definitely sense his lack of control when it comes to her. Nice! XX

  2. Sometimes, even when the situation might become grim, you have to have that special person by your side. Dominic's attitude speaks well of his desire to share himself with Serena.

  3. I hope there's some way for this dangerous scenario to end well.

  4. Someone's resolve is crumbling. And someone else is not helping the situation. I love a woman who knows what she wants.

  5. Oh, yes! "If" he was any sort of gentleman. If he was any sort of gentleman we wouldn't get to read any fun!
