Sneak Peak Sunday - March 31 - Deadly Enchantment

Sneak Peek Sunday is a new (at least for me) hop that shares excerpts.  Since I love to share, I thought I would participate.  What we're doing is sharing six paragraphs from a published work or a WIP (work in progress).

My submission for this week is from my 2nd book, Deadly Enchantment.  A shapeshifting wizard romance set in Victorian England published by New Concepts Publishing, 

In this excerpt, which occurs near the end of the first Chapter, Dominic Westcroft has returned from London to discover his home overflowing with unwanted guests.  He is not a happy camper.

               Dominic pressed his palms against the gleaming wood of his desk and glared at his sister.  “You did what?” he asked quietly.  Almost too quietly.

            “I invited ten women here for you to choose your bride from,” Regina admitted, taking a seat before him.

            Dominic’s expression turned grim.  “Have you taken leave of your senses?  Should I send Frederick to attend you?”

            “I have no need of a physician, Dominic, and I am of saner mind than you.  You need to marry,” she stated, her tone firm with resolve.

            “I had thought we were finally past this argument, Regina.  Have you forgotten what happened to Felicity?  Do you possess some deep-seated longing to send another woman screaming to her death?”

            Regina held his gaze, but gripped her fingers tightly together.  “No, and though I think it was most noble of you to remain faithful to Felicity, it’s been nearly twelve years now.  It’s time you let go of the past and moved into the future.”

Saturday Spankings - March 30 - Arrested by Love #SatSpanks

Welcome to the Saturday Spankings blog hop.  My stories are all M/f with the dominant male determined to protect the woman he cares for and loves, or grows to love, by doing whatever it takes to ensure her safety and continued health.  This includes administering a spanking when she needs one.  

I was going to post another excerpt from my BDSM book, but since I received a request to continue posting from this one, and I do aim to please, my submission for this week is again from my first spanking novel, Arrested by Love, published by Blushing Books.

  In this scene, which is a direct continuation from last week's entry, Kyle, a traffic patrol officer, has pulled over a young woman for speeding in a school zone.  Tiffany has been in love with Kyle since she was ten, so this isn't the first time she's faced the strict police officer because of some prank she's pulled.  It's not even the first time she's been caught speeding, which means she's spent a fair amount of time over his knees.  Even so, Kyle is prepared to let her go with a warning and a ticket until she propositions him.  Angry, partly because he's tempted to accept her bribe, Kyle decides to offer her a choice.  She can either spend a night in jail, or place herself over his lap and receive fifty-six swats for her reckless driving.  It doesn't help matters any when Tiffany compounds her infraction by swearing at Kyle, but he remains resolute

"Bastard!"

He smiled. "The count just went up to sixty-six, honey, and I intend to start adding swats the longer you thwart me in this. So think carefully about it, Tiff. You have a lot at stake here."

"Argh!" Tiffany growled at him as he shut the door. Kyle smiled, then after checking his watch, he went back to stand in front of his car again.

When he'd flashed his lights, Tiffany had pulled off to a relatively deserted park area near the school. He knew he could dispense her punishment without attracting the attention of anything more than a few nearby birds and squirrels--no matter how much she screamed, begged and cried. And he intended to deliver every swat he threatened.

Hmm.  Kyle loves Tiffany, but he takes her safety and obedience seriously.  Besides, in his mind the darling minx deserves this spanking at the very least.

This snippet occurs about a third way into the book after Claire Daniels has finally convinced Germaine St. Justine, the two hundred year-old vampire, she hopes will ultimately save her brother's life, to make love. Claire's convinced herself she knows what she's getting into, but she's about to discover she's dead wrong.

             Her inner muscles taut and trembling with unbearable tension, she arched her hips and neck in a silent plea for him to take her.  Except when he moved over her, he merely kissed the vulnerable spot beneath her ear before he started a trail of kisses from the valley between her breasts to her navel.

            Consumed by the sweetest torment imaginable, Claire clutched the creamy-soft cashmere encasing Germaine's arms to hold him to her.

In this excerpt, which is the beginning of the first chapter, Germaine St. Justine has sensed his former lover's pain, and is on his way to her.

             She wasn't dead--yet.

            Germaine took cold comfort from that reassurance as he strode swiftly past the occasional huddled pedestrian prowling Manhattan's sleepless streets--heedless of the instinctive, sometimes painful hunger that prowled his insides like a stalking beast.  The beast was with him always, but tonight the man's need predominated.

            Moving silently among the shadows, like the creature of the night he was, Germaine clamped his lips together and pressed on.  Nothing would deter him from his purpose this night.

            Nothing.

            His tread soundless yet sure upon the litter-strewn pavement, he kept to his chosen path, oblivious to even the biting wind that grabbed at his long, black coat like the small chilblained hands of starving street urchins begging for his attention.

            Germaine had learned long ago that not every cold hand signified a warm heart.  And tonight, with the temperature hovering near freezing, Lady Winter's grasp was lethal.  But winter's frigid fingers merely passed through him, leaving him aware--but untouched.  The worst of nature's fitful tantrums no longer affected him.  Nothing natural did.

"You wouldn't!" she spat back him.

"Oh, honey. I definitely would." He stood back, ready to close her door.

"Kyle!" Tiffany called, genuine worry in her voice.

He popped his head back in. "I'm going to give you five minutes to think about it. If you refuse to give me answer, I will assume you wish to spend the night in jail. Unfortunately, it will mean you'll have a record, and you'll have to be finger-printed, but I've heard the cots at the station aren't too uncomfortable."

Hmm.  Kyle loves Tiffany, but he takes her safety seriously.  Besides, in his mind the darling minx was asking for a spanking at the very least.

My submission for this week is an unedited sneak peek from my current WIP (Work In Progress) tentatively titled, Acting Lessons.

He was a strict and demanding college professor turned professional director who excelled at giving acting lessons.  She was his shy and uncertain former student who became a professional actress under his tutelage.  They fell in love, married, and won two Tony Awards before tragedy struck and a simple kiss ripped them apart.

After a six month separation, Peter Thorton decides to take matters into his own hands by making his famous wife, Kate, an offer she wouldn't refuse.  Plainly put, he wants her back and he intends to do whatever is necessary to achieve his goal, even if it means giving his stubborn, willful leading lady a daily reminder over his knee that she promised to obey him.

In this scene, which occurs in chapter six, Peter Thorton has just finished giving his wife, Kate, a relatively mild spanking for defying his instructions, and is preparing to make love to her for the first time in over two years.

             Drawing her close, he stood with her wrapped in his arms and carried her over to the bed, where he made quick work of discarding her panties and sliding her gown over her head.  When she lay naked and ready, he kissed her all over, paying special attention to her breasts and tummy.

            Smiling, Kate ran her fingers through his wavy, black hair, recalling how he'd tease her on occasion by pretending not to understand what she wanted him to do.

When Claire Daniels discovers Germaine St. Justine is a vampire, she sets out to persuade him to cure her brother from AIDS.  Though an innocent in sexual relations, Claire is savvy enough to realize the best way to gain Germaine's support is by having an intimate relationship with him.  However, having a vampire take you to bed isn't quite the same as sleeping with the boy next door.  There are complications.  And Germaine is dominant enough to add a few more Claire hadn't expected, such as threatening turn her over his knee when she admits she's a virgin....

  Rather than frighten Claire, Germaine's chauvinistic attitude angered her. “I'm not seeking another father, St. Justine, mine did very well--thank you anyway.”
“Really? It seems to me that you've wrapped both your father and your boyfriend around your little finger. I suspect neither one of them has ever denied your slightest wish. No doubt, you believe you can bring any man to heel in the same manner.”
“That's not true!”
“No, it's not. I am neither George, nor Harry, Claire, and I will not be wound around any part of you. I am domineering, autocratic and extremely possessive. Get involved with me, and I will not permit you to see anyone else--even Harry,” he warned in a low, possessive purr that sent a tingle of awareness racing down Claire's spine.

My post for this Wednesday is from my 4th book, A Dom's Dilemma, an erotic BDSM/spanking novel published by Blushing Books.  Kelly and Jim, the two main characters, were secondary characters in Arrested by Love.  Though this story stands on its own, if you read Arrested by Love, you'll most likely recognize some of the scenes, since we see a little bit of Kyle and Tiffany in this book, too.

For this selection on Horny Hump Day, I'm continuing the scene in A Dom's Dilemma where Jim is making love to Kelly for the first time.  A little nervous, Kelly has been wanting Jim for a few days, and is eager to have him.  What neither of them expects, however, is for Kelly to lose herself so deeply in her orgasm that she grips Jim's hair and deluges him when she comes.  Once they've both recovered from that, Jim orders Kelly to fetch another towel, hop on the bed and place her hands beneath her backside while he unzips his jeans. Impressed by what she sees, Kelly worries a little.  It's been awhile for her.

In this scene, which immediately follows my February 9 Saturday Spankings entry, Jim, a former Texan who by day works as a police detective and by night lives and plays as a Dom, is in the Velvet Chains BDSM medical station attempting to give his new submissive, Kelly Franklin, an anal exam. When Kelly goes ballistic, Jim suspects fear, rather than brattiness, is responsible for her reaction.  After giving her repeated opportunities to use her safeword, Jim is left with little choice.  She is being disrespectful, defiant and acting like a brat, all of which screams punishment to a Dom.

He gave his head a slight tilt. "Your little language slip makes it sixty-one now, and I await your reply."

            "You can't be serious, Kyle," she said finally.

            "You should know by now that I don't joke about anything that threatens your life or well-being. And reckless driving resides at the top of the list."

Hmm.  Kyle loves Tiffany, but he takes her safety seriously.  Perhaps a little too seriously.

PAWS® increases awareness of the rights and roles of Assistance Dog teams through education and advocacy.  Founded in 1979, Paws With A Cause is dedicated to helping its clients who are challenged by many disabilities, such as Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Seizure Disorders, and Hearing Disorders to name just some.  Each of our dogs are trained to meet the specific needs of our clients. Tasks may include opening and closing doors, picking up objects, pulling a wheelchair, turning lights on and off, and alerting a person to particular sounds like a telephone, doorbell, smoke detector and many others. Our dogs change lives by enhancing the independence of our clients. By just opening a door, a dog opens up the world for a person with a disability and your donations will go to making that happen.  PAWS thanks you so much for your donation and allowing us to open more doors.

I love animals, dogs especially, although I'm a sucker for kittens, too.  The first dog my husband and I rescued was a German Shepherd named Thor.  He could have been an assistance dog, but he was trained as a K9 officer.  He was retired, of course, by the time we got him, and turned out to be a terrific family pet.  Very loving and gentle toward us, and yet as protective as a German Shepherd could be.

However, the "naughtiest" doggie we've ever had was a toy poodle-mix who we named Muffy.  She was so tiny and cuddly when we rescued her in February 10 of 1988, yet very protective of me.  I should have nipped her yippy behavior in the bud from the start, but I was pregnant with our first child and thought a one pound puppy standing up to my six-foot-two-inch husband was cute.  Not a smart move on my part at all.  That dog and I were inseparable, almost literally, until May 10th, when I lost the baby.  My devastation regarding my loss put a lot of pressure on the small dog, since she became my lifeline and surrogate baby.  Another reason why her behavior never really improved.  I had her for sixteen years and the day she passed was one of the darkest days of my life.  I devoted a page on Pet Loss to her on my web site, and reading it can still make me cry today.

My husband and I are currently petless, though that may change next year since both of us miss having a four-legged, furry partner around.  We've owned a total of seven dogs in our thirty-eight years together with our last dog passing on Dec. 31, 2009.  Considering we had a dog every year we were together until that fateful day in 2009, four years is a long time for us to be without the patter of little furry feet.

Anyway, when I heard a group was getting together to help Paws with a Cause, I hopped on because I love animals and believe assistance dogs are of immense help to the disabled.

3. Enter the amount you wish to donate. Everibbon will add a small fee to your donation for processing. Danielle's fee for donating $5.00 was .49 cents. So keep this in mind when deciding your donation amount. You will receive 1 entry into the giveaway for every $1 you donate.  
4. In the box that says "on the behalf of" please put your name. This is the name that will be listed on the everibbon website so put a name you do not mind being visible to everyone. Do not check the box to make a anonymous donation because neither Danielle nor I will be able to track your donation to enter you into the giveaways.
5. Next, it will ask you for your credit or debit card information. 
6. After that, it will ask for your email address to send you a receipt. This is so that you can submit it for tax purposes.
7. Ta Da! You're done making your donation, now you need to contact Danielle to enter the giveaway.

You receive one entry toward the grand prize for every dollar you donate.  Then on March 9, four grand prize winners will be drawn from the number of entries received from individuals who have donated to Paws with a Cause through March 8.
